ERA Convention 2012 Changing Rental Oslo 15-16 May 2012

Dear colleagues, I warmly welcome you to our annual convention in Oslo, the meeting place of Europe’s construction equipment rental industry this year. The theme of this year’s convention is “Changing Rental”. Over two days we will be able to discuss trends and evolutions in our industry, both in terms of rental operations as well as in financing. Some roundtables will be dedicated to particular rental markets, in Norway and Russia and to compaction. Others will look at the comparative advantages of different ownership structures for rental companies and at the challenges and opportunities for European rental companies to grow into global markets. As every year, the Plenary Session will be dedicated to providing you with a state of the construction and rental industries in Europe. We will also hear about the consequences of the current European financial situation and be able to discuss rental expectations from the construction industry. Looking beyond current market conditions, our guest speaker, Mr Rohit Talwar, an internationally renowned futurologist, will introduce us to the long-term factors that will have an impact on our industry and of which we should be aware. The Convention will also be the occasion for the ERA’s Committees to report on their activities and hear about your expectations for future areas of focus of our activities. Finally, the Convention will celebrate professionalism and expertise in our industry during the European Rental Awards dinner, organized jointly by the European Rental Association and International Rental News. I strongly believe that this programme will be inspiring for all of us and that we will all go home having learned a lot from each other. I very much look forward to having fruitful debates with you. SESSION SPEAKERS Harald Magnus Andreassen Chief Economist, First Securities Harald Magnus Andreassen is a Norwegian economist. He graduated from the University of Oslo with a cand.oecon. degree in 1984. He was a board member of the Foundation for Student Life in Oslo from 1982 to 1984. He worked for the Norwegian Bankers’ Association from 1984 to 1989 and Econ from 1989 to 1994 before becoming chief economist in Elcon Securities. Since 1999 he has held the same position in First Securities. He has also been involved in the Norwegian Polytechnic Society.

Eduardo Rodriguez Priego IHS Global Eduardo Rodriguez-Priego is EMEA Director of IHS Global Insight Construction and Manufacturing Industries Consulting Services.
