KALAKSHETRA
Art School l site : Kharghar l ad sem 6 studio
The task was to design an art school at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai which is the educational hub of the city. The program included building fine and commercial arts institutue. The idea was derived from the basis of connecting the students with nature for optimum learning based envvironment. By providing studios with their own private open spaces for their art process as well as public open spaces to showcase their artworks, a hierarchy of open spaces is maintained.

lazarus: breathing life into space disused spaces l site : Bandra east l landscape sem 6 studio
Lazarus is a project intended to bring to life an abandoned space which has been a product of the general neglect and ignorance of the people residing nearbyb. The site, which is adjoining the Bandra east skywalk has been an area of encroachment for slum dwellers resulting in a negative image of the slum dwellers. Moreover, the lack of open spaces nearby was another criteria to develop this site as a public open space open to all and also creating a cohesive neighbourhood.

FORMS AND FIGURES House for John Lennon l ad sem 2 studio John Lennon was a musician, singer, writer, peace activist who was a part of the internationally acclaimed band The Beatles in the 60s and 70s. The house here speaks in the memory of his philosophy of peace and brotherhood as well as his style of rock music that he portrayed over the years. The initial process involved studying the personality and deriving various philosophies out of him which would help us develop a conceptual idea of the house through sketches and clay models.

ADAPTING TO THE NATURE Manav Sadhna Community Center l documentation l Nari Gandhi Trophy, NASA top 10 shortlisted
Gujarat
The Nari Gandhi brief described the importance of climate in the role of architecture through passive as well as active methods. Manav Sadhna community center at Ramapir no tekro, Ahmedabad, proved to me, an epitome of sustainability through reuse of waste materials as well as using passive techniques to respond effectively to the climate of Ahmedabad. This documentation of the community center showed me how climate responsive techniques can be incorporated into the public spaces with using the most basic materials. The conversation with architect Yatin Pandya also was an insight into the sustainable practices, he undertakes to design effectively.

DISCOVERING THE OLD Nana Phadnavis Wada l documentation l Nari Gandhi Trophy, NASA Special Mention 1 For More information log on to: https://nasaindia.co/index.php/winningentry?type=annual&trophyId=4&groupId=2&year=2016#lg=1&slide=0
The Nari Gandhi brief was about the way the culture and architecture of a place are connected and how it has evolved over a period of time. In studying and documenting the Nana Phadnavis Wada at Wai, I understood the intricacies of Maratha architecture as well as the lifestyle of the people from the era gone. Moreover, through verbal documentation with thee descendants of Nana as well as literature study helped me gain knowledge required for understanding the context, the wada was built in.
