让我想想啊。 哦，我小时候特别喜欢一种巧克力糖豆， 装在八字形的那种胶囊里。 就像是感冒药那种胶囊。 咦，这我倒是没有听说过呢。 为什么会喜欢 这个啊？有什么特别的原因吗？

聊一聊童年

Q: 现在大家都迷韩剧，或中国偶像剧，请问您年少时青少年中有什么" 偶像型" 的电视剧吗?

A: 我中学时是流行琼瑶和武侠片的时代。 我当时整天跟姐姐去看爱情片，跟哥 哥去看武侠片。 林青霞、周润发、刘德华就是那个时代的新星。 对你们来说他们都 太老了，但他们就是我们这代人的偶像！

Q: 除了电视剧，有什么其他喜爱的节目吗?

A: 我比较少看新加坡的电视剧，但会经常看娱乐节目，例如：声宝之夜，三开时

间，环岛追追追，斗歌竞艺等！我也特别喜欢看马来西亚和新加坡之间的足球赛， 大家都超级嗨！

Q: 年少时候，喜欢听怎样的音乐?有什么特别喜爱的歌手或歌唱团体吗?

A: 我特别喜欢听经典歌曲，特别喜爱的歌手有凤飞飞，邓丽君，刘文正等，这有点暴露 我的年龄，哈哈！我也特别喜欢听新谣，当时是新谣刚起步时，我非常喜欢那清新自然 的风格。 而且我们也是学生，容易与歌曲产生共鸣，如梁文福的《历史考试前夕》。

Q:你好，宇歌！在你心中，童年是什么颜色的？

A:在我心里，童年大约就是淡黄色的吧。 之所以这样说，是因为当时的生活很纯真很无忧无 虑，充满着快乐，就跟明亮的黄色一样。然而同时童年生活又并没有太多需要挂念、需要担 心的东西，所以是淡黄色。 我童年时很喜欢的一个实验是在阳光下，放一张白纸，然后用一

个放大镜把白纸、放大镜和太阳连成三点一线。成功的话纸会着火，但仅仅如此，我就很开 心了。 现在回忆起做实验的影像，和那时候的阳光还有那时候的心情，脑海里就浮现出一片 阳光的淡黄色。

Q:淡黄色的童年听上去真美啊！那么童年最令你难忘的东西是什么呢？

A:童年最令我难忘的大约就是以前在夜市可以买到的一种叫“炒冰”的东西。 “炒冰”其实就 是浇有各种各样水果汁的磨好的沙冰，尝起来凉凉的甜甜的。 虽然它看起来挺普通的，但是 我自己有一种独特的配方，使我做的“炒冰”独一无二，与众不同。可是，现在不管怎么样都 调不出当时那种特别的味道了。

Q:是啊，童年时光正是我们人生中很特别的阶段。你觉得童年和现在有什么不一样吗？

A:我觉得童年和现在最大的不同应该是生活状态所导致的心态的不同。 感觉大家在童年的 时候做一些很简单的事情都会很快乐，而且时间过得也慢些，但是长大后需要做的事情变

得越来越多，我们也不像小时候一样可以享受并珍惜生活中的小事了，所以觉得时间越过 越快，有时候一眨眼就过去了。 除此之外，现在的生活比起童年，由于越来越忙碌，睡觉时间 也晚了很多。 但我觉得这样对健康不好，所以还是希望能像童年一样能早睡呀！

A:童年最有成就感的事便是在小学时教中学的表哥华文功课。 其实只不过是根据第六感告 诉他综合填空的答案罢了，但这却让我很有成就感。 毕竟，一个低年级的学生的华文水平竟 比高年级的学生好, 真的会让我感到很骄傲的。我从小就爱读华文故事书, 长久以来便对词 语, 句子等有感觉, 知道哪个是对的。 我也就是在这个时候我坚定了做老师的理想。 Q:童年时学到的一些教训是什么?

A:我的爱好可能不算特别吧，感觉我从小简直就是一个戏迷。 我小时候爱看各种戏，包括新传媒的戏、哆啦A梦、柯南等。新 传媒的节目有时候季节性地会介绍一些职业，比如说有像《警

徽天职》这类介绍警察生涯的节目，也有像《走进走出》这样的 介绍律师职业的戏，我从中接触到很多不一样的职业，虽然现 在想想，可能这些介绍并不完全贴近现实，现实生活很难像电 视剧那样精彩，但我从小就因为爱看电视剧而变得喜欢异想天 开，早早地就受到启发，幻想以后会想成为什么样的人。 Q:你认为这些节目对如今的你有什么影响呢？

A:这些节目对我还算是有一点点影响吧。 我小时候爱看戏，最崇 拜的就是那些撰写字幕的能手，总是感觉他们要把演员们所说 的话翻译成另一种语言不容易。我觉得它最重要的作用就是帮

助我学英语，因为我家里人都对我讲华语，可能家里营造讲英语

的环境不够足，但是看华文剧目，就能从中英语字幕中学习，

我觉得这是它对我影响比较深远的地方。 其实仔细想想，以前看的节目也塑造 了我的一些价值观吧，比如说，朋友、亲人、夫妻之间应该如何相处等等，因为 这些剧情都是围绕着社会所接受的价值观而撰写、编制的。 小时候我被灌输这

TOYS, GAMES, ACTIVITIES Children, do you remember the good ‘ol times? Back when games meant more than iPad apps, back when you were satisfied with your imagination instead of the number of likes on your Instagram photos?

Sim Rou Chen I’ll bet your mind’s eye is starting to churn out snapshots of the artefacts of your youth and the precious moments you had—back when the days seemed so much sweeter. Your fellow schoolmates understand your nostalgia and would like to share some of their childhood recollections with you!

How many of these toys, games and activities can you recognise from your own childhood days?

1. What are your favourite toys from childhood?

Janessa: I loved playing with bubble balloons, the one where you blow through a little yellow stick and a tangible transparent plastic sphere form. I always competed with my friends to see who could make the biggest bubbles! Their colours were always so pretty in the sunlight.

The smell was a little off-putting, but the fun I had was more than enough to make up for it.

Wen Yan: There were so many wonderful toys that I had when I was little! I played with electrical kits when I was little – the kind for kids of course. They were boards with wires running underneath, and you had to assemble things in it, similar to Lego. There were sockets, sirens that produce sound, switches that turned on flashing lights… it was extremely cool and an amazing way to learn about electricity. I also played with spinning tops – not the traditional kind though. You could insert a key into the top and when you release it, it shoots really fast across the floor and spins intensely. They were fun to watch and excellent for competitions.

I used to have Barbie dolls too. Unlike others, I didn’t care about their clothes too much and was instead obsessed with their hair. I like combing their long flowy hair and got mad when their hair got tangled up (as it is prone to do). I even washed the hair with actual shampoo!

2. What were your favourite childhood games?

INTERVIEW

Janessa: Do you remember Neopets? I’ll bet most if not all the kids played this adorable game when they were little. It’s kind of similar to Tamagotchi, having to care for virtual pets, but their vibrant colours definitely made it a lot more aesthetically pleasing. I remember spending hours trying to customise my Neopets and Neohome - there were just so many accessories to choose from. I loved the mini-games as well and spent even more hours trying to win trophies and beat my friends’ high scores.

Nicole: I enjoyed playing board games and thinking games, such as Scrabble and Rush Hour. Not only did they allow me to stretch my mind, they helped me to know and understand people better. I always learnt something new during each game, so I never got bored of them. They were a great way to pass time and provide entertainment!

PASTIMES

Wen Yan: I played so many games as a kid, but I suppose I loved family board games the most. Games like Monopoly, Jenga, and Connect 4 were the best way to spend time with my loved ones. The air was always filled with shrieking and laughter as we tried to emerge the winner and earn the rights to lord it over everyone for the rest of the day.

I played loads of puzzle games too, like IQ Concept, this game with little pieces made of balls and sticks and you had to try and recreate the structures printed on a sheet. You could make 2D shapes or even 3D ones like pyramids, and it was pretty enjoyable, albeit a little taxing on the brain cells.

Hui Qing: I loved playing card games with my friends! Old Maid, Donkey, Snap... Those were definitely a huge part of my childhood. I never thought I could get so much adrenaline from playing boring old cards. No one wanted to do the forfeit and be laughed at by all the others, so we were all extremely competitive. That tension I felt when picking a card from my friend’s spread was so intense! These games helped me to forge many bonds with friends and family.

3. What were your favourite childhood activities?

Janessa: I miss frolicking around playgrounds; they were the best places to amuse yourself. I especially liked the playgrounds with sandboxes, too bad their numbers are dwindling away now.

I also miss contacting my friends with old-school messaging services, such as MSN Messenger and Friendster. I tried so hard to think of the coolest status messages and enjoyed sending silly winks and kind Testimonials. It was also really satisfying to change the colour of my text whenever I wanted to.

Nicole: I liked playing catching and hide-and-seek with friends. The adrenaline of running around and hoping not to get caught… it’s such a nostalgic feeling. I remember myself trying to think up new strategies to beat my classmates and emerge the winner during each game. Sitting through lessons and coming back home all sweaty and tired was worth it because of all the fun I had.

Wen Yan: I spent much of my childhood playing with my brothers so these are my most treasured memories of the past. I recall riding kiddie tricycles with them and having little racing competitions.

We also went swimming often; our favourite water sport was “sink the goggles” where we let goggles sink to the bottom of the pool and then tried to retrieve them by diving deep down. We read loads of books together too. We either sat down between bookshelves of the library and read in our cosy corner, or went to Popular bookstores for more. I really miss the days when the books were all unwrapped. We got chased away many times, but we always returned to mooch off the free reading material. The bookstore employees must have been so frustrated by us, haha!

Hui Qing: I know it must sound really clichéd at this point, but I liked playing at the animal-themed playgrounds. They were the best place to let your imagination run free. I loved climbing to the top of these structures and pretending to be King of the World. I do miss the dragon and elephant playgrounds. They were such clever and cute designs.
