Director of Communications and Internal URVISH PATEL

Coming from a working class humble background in Gujrat, India, this is Urvish Patel. I was not fortunate enough to have my father during my growing years and thus my mother is no less than a goddess to me and taught me the value of commitment to my purpose through empathy, kindness, honesty and hard work. In my past leadership positions I have organized over 13 online events to assist students with their career growth and guide them to look for more networking opportunities and support groups, in order to mitigate the impact that leaving their family, friends, hometown and culture has made on their lives. In other words, a change-model of leadership that better resembles the types of experiences, motivations, and outcomes one sees when working with various student groups. I am a very strong believer of equality for all with a focus on women empowerment. Through comprehensive research and analysis I will compile a set of practices that best meets the needs of LGBTQ+ students in order to create a safe and equal environment where they can thrive. Indigenous and Black folks go through numerous hardships. I will create a new direction for George Brown College students by providing them with proper support and a more humane approach along with better policies and collaborative student environment. Lastly, if elected I will pay back your trust with hard work so that together, we make a positive impact on the lives of each and every George Brown College’s Student.
