The film looks at a layman citizen who has to face the grim realities of his own life, while trying to make the two ends of his life meet with his small teashop. But all of a sudden, his dream is turned upside down overnight as the demonetisation drive of the Government of India hits. The narrative sees him protesting in his own way. Seven Romanian male-to-male sex workers in Berlin have their portraits taken as they listen and react 29.11.2019 (Friday) 11:15 AM-12:55 PM to recordings of their own experiences. By turning the process of exploitation into a spectacle, the camera becomes a client highlighting the inevitable performativity of such power relations.

RIOT NOT DIET creates a queer feminist utopia far away from BMI norms and male* gaze. The fat women* and queers in this movie are not ashamed of their expansive body dimensions, but confidently claim space for themselves. They use their bodies to blow up patriarchal structures and enjoy their corporeality beyond the neoliberal logic of exploitation.

A true cult of friendship among men was widespread in Weimar Classicism, whereas outdated homosexuality was frowned upon. The director follows relevant historical biographies and gives surprising insights. Fireflies' is the story of Jahnu's resilient journey to being Jahnavi, a transwoman, standing against the tide to be herself. Born in a society that is yet to catch up with her unapologetic claim to be different, Jahnavi must be her own light to battle the darkness of hate and ignorance. A young woman Joey is in search of direction in her small town. A visit to an army recruiting office appears to provide a path, but when she meets and falls in love with Rayna that path diverges in ways that neither woman anticipates. Cleo, a singer and hypochondriac, becomes increasingly worried that she might have cancer while awaiting test results from her doctor.

Why do people marry? For love, sex, companionship, security? What if one as a queer individual in India decides to test the marriage market for themselves? How would one’s friends, family, aquaintances react to their decision? The idea is to turn the camera inwards, look at intimate and public spaces, and see how our choices regarding marriage and candidate selection are shaped; how our caste, class, religious locations intersect those desires. When two same sex desiring person, dare to ask more than mere ncessional tolerance, does it upset the order? Shot over the period of five years, from 2014-2019, a tumultuous period in the struggle for queer rights, the film engages with the diverse perspectives, debates and humorous transactions that go on in one’s interaction with the institution of marriage and unpacks our worlds of desires, expectations and the dreams of expanded rights.

Lily Tomlin stars as Elle who has just gotten through breaking up with her girlfriend when Elle's granddaughter Sage unexpectedly shows up needing six hundred dollars before sundown. Temporarily broke, Grandma Elle and Sage spend the day trying to get their hands on the cash as their unannounced visits to old friends and flames end up rattling skeletons and digging up secrets. Atasi is the story of a young girl from Kolkata who was forcibly incarcerated in a mental hospital of Kolkata by her family for more than a year but did not let go of her search for ‘true love’ and ended up finding the love of her life. Love between two adolescent girls are received with condemnation by the school authorities and their parents. A meeting is called between the parents and the school authorities that will decide the fate of the girls. Unable to bear this alienation one of the girls attempted suicide. This film portrays nine abstracts where women revolt against patriarchal oppressions, ranging from plastic pollution to homophobia. It also talks about sisterhood, and how women should stand up for other women. It shows how women are re-claiming spaces that men had only kept to themselves resulting in a narrative which reiterated the fact that women should only look after the home and hearth. The film also tries to state that age is no bar for fighting against oppression. Manob is in love with another man. And he has a price to pay for that. Not only is he fighting the society around him, but his own homophobic father, who does not even refrain from physical violence to "cure his son from the disease of loving another man". A younger Manob once danced in his school function, dressed up as a woman. And it is from that time he possibly realized that he might be a woman trapped inside a man's body. The stakes get higher when he is also looked down upon by his lover, who refuses to accept him unless he transforms to a woman completely. Dejected, Manob decides to travel to the city to look into the possibilities of a sex change operation, where he faces challenges that he may not be ready to confront yet. Several people with various idiosyncrasies gather together in a party and find out that someone is going to die. As the party goes on we witness how hollow and superficial and self-centric they are. Their behavior, dialogues, and actions tend to trace a larger and wider politics, and they become a part of it knowingly or unknowingly.

70 Yeh Freedom Life / This Freedom Life' tries to keep up with its protagonists, as they manoeuvre erratic and unpredictable love. One of them works at a local beauty parlour, the other runs the family’s small cigarette counter at a crowded intersection. They are surrounded by a cacophonous city; they are both in love with other women. The film accompanies them through their desire to live according to them, their ‘freedom lives’, outside society and family’s constant scrutiny and sanction. But this ‘freedom life’ also leaves them vulnerable to the precariousness of love, when it refuses such constraints.

Three women, three lives in parallel worlds, until the moment a fly causes a bug in the system. The universe collapses, sex is in the air, bras are overrated and the stars twinkle! In the animated film Entropia by Hungarian artist Flóra Anna Buda, colours explode and sensually unleash new possibilities: Thanks to the fly, all that is abstract comes to life and sexuality plays an integral role. While there are echoes of the sci-fi series Black Mirror, the colours make everything more vibrant. The doe by the river is a nod towards Hungarian animation artist Réka Busci, whose work has equally opened up more creative narrative strategies in animated film. Buda’s graduation film heralds a new generation of animation artists from Hungary.

At first it seems like Yulia and Juliet are meeting in the school corridor, but then we notice the ventilation grilles in the image, through which the two lovers have to talk to each other. Yulia and Juliet are in prison. Worse still, Juliet will soon be released. But what will happen to Yulia? The emotionally charged drame takes a radical and brave turn. Zara Dwinger once again tells a brief, intense story about self-determined female protagonists. The nipple is the power button that gets the ‘cinema of the mind’ rolling – or is it in fact a reality? An Xray reveals it quite clearly: a little man nestled between the rib bones. There he lies and sleeps. The male’s host goes crazy, but it doesn't help, he falls asleep exhausted. When he wakes up the next morning, he finds a wound where his nipple used to be, and footprints on the floor. The search begins. But the little man refuses to be intimidated or annoyed or fooled. He confidently sets off to find his place in this gay universe. Who actually loves whom here? Surrealistic and absurd settings come up against a real, everyday world. Unfathomable, inexplicable, sensual, feisty, peculiar.

He waves his arms in the air while his lithe body soaks up the beat and transfers it to his legs. Raf literally breathes in the music. At the same time he is constantly scanning the room. There is desire and expectation in his gaze, but also anxiety and shyness. Moving to the film’s rhythmic pulse and the intoxicating music in the queer club, we dance with Raf and cast off all inhibitions.

A fishing cove on an island fallen out of time and space, almost like the rocky island in Michelangelo Antonionis L’Avventura (1960). Nature is not merely decoration, but an active force of events. Ships appear in the distance, but do not dock. Here is where Gabriel works with a small group of young men. They amuse themselves in an age-appropriate way, but also talk frequently of the devil and are magically drawn to a cave. Out of nowhere, an androgynous creature appears called Héctor. Gabriel instantly falls in love. The birth of a love that Gabriel tries to decipher. But the enigmatic girl disappears. The other men burn her tent and clothes at night. A visually bewitching and disturbing film poem, which remains reserved and vague, constituting its fascination and magic.
