Nationwide Q: What is your history? (be brief!) 17 Years within the Express Parcel sector. Q: What experience do you have? 17 years of management experience at varying levels for United Carriers, UKMail, APC, City Link and Fedex to name but a few. 6 years as MD of my own successful courier company. Two and a half years at the operational helm for Diamond Logistics.

Q: What are your hopes for Diamond Logistics? Diamond Logistics to be a Nationally and Internationally renowned logistics operator. Q: What are your ambitions? My own ambition for Diamond Logistics is to reach the saturation point in terms of sites across the whole of the UK. Long term, I believe our business model is open to expansion across Europe. Q: What do you like/don’t like? I like the word ‘Yes’ and hate the word ‘No’. Q: What do you want to achieve? A real stir in the world of logistics. Unicef Syria Appeal Close to six million children have now been affected by the conflict in Syria. Many have lost everything - family, friends and homes. Children have been killed, orphaned or suffered life-changing injuries.

Big Wide Talk For 10 years Big Wide Talk has been working with children, letting them think, learn and speak for themselves in Theatres of Learning. Thousands of children have taken part and exceeded everyone’s expectations.

February WaterAid works specifically on the WASH crisis: water, sanitation and hygiene. Their vision is a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation.

Challenging, bored and difficult to engage children have taken their turn in the spotlight for the first time and parents and teachers have listened and seen all of the children as never before. April Bag Books is the only organisation in the world publishing multi-sensory books specifically for people with learning disabilities. Each year they reach around 19,000 children and adults throughout the UK with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) or severely affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). www.bagbooks.org

Franchise Focus: Birmingham Julian launched his very own Diamond Logistics depot at the beginning of this year. Q: Why your own business? I had already set up my own executive recruitment business in 2004 so it was an easy decision to make and a straight forward transition as I already had a lot of the items needed to start the franchise with Diamond like accountants, a laptop, printer, Ltd company, etc. Q: Why did you choose a Diamond Logistics franchise? I have recruited in the third party logistics sector and always saw it as a fast moving environment which I like, but I have also seen the huge growth in internet start ups and their requirement to get goods delivered. I was drawn in by Kate’s drive, passion and enthusiasm and I wanted to be in at the ‘start-up’ phase. Q: What are your aims for 2014 - and beyond? My aim is to grow the business as much as is humanly possible and maximise the opportunities within the large territory I have. I also intend to employ staff as soon as possible that want to share this journey. Q: Tell us something we didn’t know about you...keep it professional! I am an accomplished golfer playing off a single figure handicap (despite many other distractions). I captained my club for two years, during that time we won numerous National competitions including the Hawtree trophy, as well as the Midlands Alliance League division 1. On a personal level I got through to the National final at St.Andrews, Scotland of The Mercedes Trophy (Largest amateur competition in the world). This was after winning the qualifying round in the midlands and then reaching the Regional final at New Zealand GC in Surrey. At the National final I was runner up to the eventual winner who went on to represent England in the World final held in Germany.
