EVERY GOWN HAS A STORY… In the mountains of Vermont, surrounded by a lifelong collection of colorful vintage fabrics, lace, beads, buttons and trim, designer Tara Lynn works by hand and on vintage sewing machines to create one-of-a-kind wedding gowns from natural, organic and re-purposed fibers—gowns that are custom made for clients throughout the U.S. and around the world. Tara Lynn’s gowns are inspired by her love of nature and her research in flora and fauna; but every gown is unique and has its own story. Tara Lynn’s creativity surfaced early, in the clothes she designed as a child. While still in high school, she enrolled in fashion classes and worked for a number of New York City designers including Karen Smith Design, Montgomery Harris and Toshiki and Maryszka Couturier. After high school, Tara Lynn earned a BA at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, where she became increasingly concerned about the “dark side” of fashion— sweat shops, toxic chemicals and harmful, heavy metals in dyes. This experience inspired Tara Lynn to launch her own clothing company using natural fibers including organic cotton, linen, hemp blends and organic silks. She sold her first ready made garments at HempInstead in Hell’s Kitchen, NY where she started making custom natural fiber clothing and hemp wedding dresses in 1999. In 2005 she launched a collection of wearable art jackets dedicated to endangered species; the butterfly jacket, elephant jacket and frog coat and her hooded Earth Bitch Jackets were popular sellers at jurried art shows on both the east and west coast.

In 2008, Tara Lynn began creating an in-house collection of wedding dress samples, using components of custom designed dresses she made for brides that were most often loved by new clients. On of which was the Farfalla dress, Tara Lynn custom made for her own wedding in 2001, and has since sold numerous one-of-a-kind spin offs. She launched her web store taralynnbridal.com in 2012. She is currently working on a new dress collection inspired by the history and life of Unicorns. Tara Lynn does not wholesale her dresses. Each gown is custom made and made-to-order to ensure an amazing experience with genuine customer service. Tara Lynn gets to know her clients personally before designing them a dress that will capture their spirit. Aside from making wedding dresses, Tara Lynn also makes natural fiber wearable art jackets dedicated to endangered species. She teaches fashion design classes and worked with Umbrella, a local non profit, helping victims of domestic and sexual violence. After eight years she retired from advocacy and began a fashion show event dedicated to raising money for Umbrella. She did that for three years. Today she is fully focused on her couture fashion, art, finishing building her house, and spending quality time with her husband and smiling dog, Nash.

BRENDA CASCIO

As an artist, I’ve always had a need for a creative outlet. In 2005, Hurricane Rita ripped the roof off of my art studio. Having no place to paint, and a yearning to create, I opened Gracious Bridal, an ecommerce store focusing on wedding favors. Gracious Bridal allowed me to marry the creative and business sides of myself. The business started to grow so quickly that I brought in my business partner and daughter Audrey Craig and together our wedding favors business turned into GB Design House, a full-fledged entertaining design house.b "Be disciplined and have an “offswitch!” I love what I do, it’s fun, but designing is consuming. Make time for family, friends and down-time."

Black White Cake By Ron Ben- Israel

Ron Ben Israel You know Ron Ben-Israel—you've seen him on TV hundreds of times. What you might not know is that he was on the forefront of a wedding cake trend borne somewhat recently: dark-colored wedding cakes. It was "a big, big revolution" when he developed black fondant for his clients a few years ago. People were struck by the elegance of a wedding cake that was so classic in some ways and so, so not in others. "I can take the regular structure of a cake, tiers sitting one on top of the other, etc., and totally make it unusual and avant grade by changing the color or the texture," Ron tells Delish. He himself is a fan of a gorgeous grey cake, calling them "elegant." Anyway, that's how we found ourselves in Ron's 13th-floor NYC Garment District cake studio watching him and his team craft a perfect (and perfectly black) wedding cake. But with Ron, it's not just tiers, buttercream, fondant, and fin—it's all of the aforementioned plus hand-crafted flowers, hand-applied real golden details, and handmastered textures. Hours and hours later, he slices it with a machete. A cake-slicing-designated machete, of course.

Giovanna Silvestre

Why “Confused Girl”? People ask me, “Why the name “Confused Girl”?”. My answer is simple, “It is really easy to accept yourself when you are feeling good and your life is the way you want it. But it isn’t so easy to accept yourself when things are tough and you are confused. We shame ourselves in times we need to be embracing ourselves.” Confused Girl is about accepting yourself just as you are at this moment. This acceptance will lead you to your TRUE NATURE.

Giovanna Silvestre is founder of the brand “Confused Girl”. “Confused Girl” started as a blog 4 years ago. I was lost at the time and wanted to share my feelings with others. I figured, I can’t be the only confused one out there. It’s funny how we feel we’re the only ones when every human being has either been there, is still there or is going to be there again! My blog took a life of it’s own and put me on a spiritual journey to find my true nature. Along this journey I met a healer who had a profound effect on me. He had a collection of crystals and told me to pick two to take home. I had these crystals in my room and felt so much joy when I walked past them. One day I was meditating and I had a vision of creating a line of women’s activewear that was inspired by these crystals. So with no money and an idea, I started the journey. I had no idea how I was going to make it happen but I knew I had to do it. Now, two years later, we have been featured on VH1, Yoga Digest, Yoga Magazine, Silicon Beach Magazine and on the cover of LA Yoga. We are in select stores in LA and expanding. THE CRYSTALS: How do we create the designs? I take high resolution photos of crystals that inspire me and work with an art team to print them onto fabric. Each pair of leggings represents a different stone. The healing crystals balance yin/yang energy and cultivate courage, creativity and healing. Our leggings are 4 way stretch, breathable and made in L.A. We pride ourselves in using the best quality fabric on the market. The leggings are great for working out or going out.

Grilled Pizza By Makinzie Gore

Summer is meant to be enjoyed outdoors and away from the oven. If you've never tried grilling pizza now is the time to start. It is far easier than you can imagine and there's no pizza stone required! For this simple grilled pizza recipe we are placing the dough directly on the grill and the results are perfectly charred, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside crust with plenty of melty cheese. Get everything you need ready. Here's our #1 tip for success. Prep everything you are going to need before you start grilling. The grilling part goes fast. We're talking 4 minutes tops so don't wait to slice your tomatoes until the pizza is on the grill. Have everything ready and near you so that as soon as you flip the pizza crust you can start topping and pull your pizza off the grill as soon as it's done. Can I use a pizza stone? Yes! If you have a pizza stone and would rather use it you definitely can! Place your pizza stone on your grill grates and close the lid. Heat you grill over the highest heat and let it warm up for a good amount of time. Your pizza stone needs to be HOT when you put the pizza dough on! If you're using a pizza stone you won't need to flip your crust so you can top with desired toppings right after placing the dough on your stone. What pizza dough should I use? We love our pizza dough for all types of pizza and it's perfect on the grill! If you have pre-made dough, though that will work great too. You can even ask you local pizzeria for some pizza dough!

What should I top with? This is the fun part! We kept ours fresh and simple because it's what we crave in the summertime. You can top yours like a classic with sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni or get controversial and add some pineapple! We love a good grilled BBQ chicken pizza, too. However you like your pizza, it will work well with this grilled version. Because the pizza cooks for such a short amount of time, just make sure to cook all of your ingredients that need to be first.

INGREDIENTS 8 oz. pizza dough Extra-virgin olive oil, for brushing and drizzling 1/2 lb. thinly sliced mozzarella 1 large tomato, thinly sliced 1 c. cherry tomatoes, halved 1 c. ricotta Freshly chopped basil, for serving Pinch crushed red pepper flakes

TASTY AND NUTRITIOUS DIRECTIONS HEAT GRILL OVER MEDIUM-HIGH HEAT. DIVIDE PIZZA DOUGH INTO 2 BALLS AND USE YOUR HANDS TO STRETCH OUT INTO A CIRCLE THAT’S 8 INCHES WIDE. BRUSH BOTH SIDES WITH OIL, THEN PLACE DIRECTLY ON GRILL GRATES. COOK UNTIL BOTTOM IS GOLDEN, 1 TO 2 MINUTES, THEN FLIP. TOP CRUST WITH HALF THE CHEESE, TOMATOES, AND RICOTTA AND CONTINUE COOKING UNTIL BOTTOM OF PIZZA IS GOLDEN, ANOTHER MINUTE. REPEAT WITH REMAINING DOUGH. TOP WITH BASIL, RED PEPPER FLAKES, AND A DRIZZLE OF OIL.

Best Mermaid Lemonade By Lyndsay Funston

The combo of lemonade, blue curacao, and rum works miracles in this tropical cocktail that will make you feel like a mermaid.

INGREDIENTS 2 c. ice 1/4 c. blue curaçao 1 c. white rum 2 c. lemonade 4 lemon slices 8 maraschino cherries DIRECTIONS Put 1/4 cup ice in each glass, then add a splash of blue curaçao, 1/4 cup rum, and another 1/4 cup ice. (The ice helps with the ombré.) Pour over 1/2 cup lemonade. Skewer a lemon slice and 2 maraschino cherries on a paper umbrella or toothpick and garnish drinks before serving.
