2017 CITY ATHLETIC MEET:
MACIPRISA, MHPNHS remain undefeated by Erin Abraham R. Crisostomo Still the undisputed. The Malolos City Private Schools Association (MACIPRISA) and Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School (MHPNHS) teams continued to roar as they remained overall victors in the 2017 City of Malolos Athletic Meet last November 20–22. The MACIPRISA delegation rejoiced as they bagged once more the overall championship for the elementary category by seizing the most number of gold medals in various sports. “Isa sa mga factor [kung bakit kami ang naging overall champion] ay [dahil sa pagkapanalo namin sa] swimming, since most of the students in the private schools ay mahilig sa swimming at taekwondo. Ito siguro ‘yong nagdala kaya kami nanalo,” explained Rorimar Mallari, MACIPRISA Sports Coordinator. Clustered districts
from the public schools, however, lost again their chance in reaching the peak by barely landing on the second and third ranks for Cluster 2 (Districts 6–10) and Cluster 1 (Districts 1–5) respectively. In a statement, Oliva Clemente, Cluster 1 Sports Coordinator, clarified that one of the probable causes of their defeat is the lack of student athletes for sports with the most number of events. “Kulang [kasi] tayo [ng mga participants] sa mga events katulad ng gymnastics at swimming kung saan ‘yon ang maraming medal na nakukuha.” Meanwhile, the MHPNHS athletes took pride in proving that their school is indeed the home of the champions as they secured the top spot in the secondary category. “Ang tagumpay namin ay mula sa pinagsama-samang sipag, dedikasyon... Mayor Natividad graces 2017 City Meet by John Philip T. Tan
Malolos City Mayor Atty. Christian D. Natividad graced the opening of the 2017 City Meet on November 20 at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center. In front of the student-athletes, coaches, and Department of Education (DepEd) Officials coming from the different schools in the City, Mayor Christian commended the DepEd City Schools Division of Malolos for its programs for the youth not only in academics but also in sports. “Alam ko pong malayo pa ang mararating ng ating lungsod in terms of achievements and successes and we do have success stories na narinig po natin sa academe at sports na patuloy po sanang
ma-sustain ng ating City”, Natividad said. “Ang isang malusog na siyudad ay mayroong malusog na kabataan, malusog sa kaisipan, malusog sa pangangatawan at syempre malusog din sa spiritual.” he added. Mayor also gave credit to the parents and DepEd teachers for the guidance and serving as the guiding light in the success of the youth. “Ang tunay po na nagbibigay ng landas, ilaw, at katagumpayan sa ating mga kabataan ay ang ating mga teacher, mga guro ng DepEd.” Mayor Natividad ended his message with a simple challenge to the
audience. “Nawa po sana na ang City Meet na ito ay magdulot pa ng kakaibang istorya ng tagumpay, kakaibang istorya ng pagkakaibigan at kakaibang istorya ng pagpapalitan ng ngitian sa bawat isa po sa ating Malolenyo.”
Clustering intensifies game hype
MACIPRISA, MHPNHS from Page 1 ...at determinasyon [ng lahat at sa paniniwalang] malayo pa ang mararating ng aming mga atleta sa larangan ng sports na ginusto nila,” said Rafael Nicolas Dionisio, MHPNHS Sports Coordinator MACIPRISA and Cluster 2 failed to defeat MHPNHS in the City Meet by settling correspondingly on the second place with and third places, along with the athletic teams from Bulacan State University, Cluster 1, and Malolos Marine Fisheries School and Laboratory (MMFS&L) that positioned fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively. “As long as naibigay naman ‘yong lahat ng makakaya ng mga players sa paglalaro, ayos lang kahit natalo. Dapat rin siguro na bigyan pa ng mas malakas na suporta ang mga manlalaro para sa susunod na City Meet,” exclaimed Ella Marie Tuazon, MMFS&L Taekwondo player. The champions in each sports event will advance to the Central Luzon Regional Athletic Meet, which is slated on the first quarter of 2018.
by Diana Rose R. Cabigao Clash of the clusters. Three teams from elementary level and six teams from Secondary level fought hard to bag the much anticipated overall championship during the 2017 City of Malolos athletic meet last November 20-22, 2017. Last year, there were 11 teams (Districts 1-10 and MACIPRISA) who competed in the elementary level while each public high school was considered as one team. This year, the teams in the elementary level were just compressed into three: Cluster 1 (Districts 1-5), Cluster 2 (Districts 6-10), and MACIPRISA. For the secondary level, the teams were Cluster 1 (Districts 1-5), Cluster 2
(Districts 6-10), Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School, Malolos Marine Fishery School & Laboratory, Bulacan State University, and MACIPRISA. In a statement, Juanito Cabigao, Cluster 2 head, said that the clustering was indeed a big help because the best athletes were selected immediately after the cluster meet. Although they lack time in the preparation and training of athletes, they still finished 1st runner up in the elementary level and 2nd runner up in the high school level. “Nahirapan kami this year. Bukod sa kaunti yung time namin to prepare ay tumindi ang labanan lalo na sa ball games dahil nga
nagsama sama na yung magagaling na athletes ng bawat school,” said by Rachele Camua, Sports Coordinator of Malolos Marine Fishery School and Laboratory. “Mas naging competitive po ang bawat players at mas naging exciting ang labanan. Ang galing po ng lahat ng teams kaya bawat game ay inabangan namin,” stated by one of the specatators from Marcelo H. del Pilar National High School. Though neither cluster 1 nor Cluster 2 won the overall championship, the creation of clusters indeed intensified the annual City of Malolos Athletic meet.
