Dianna Frid

Dianna Frid is an artist working at the intersection of text and textile. Her sculptures, installations, artist's book and mixed-media works have been shown nationally and internationally, recently at the De Paul Art Museum (2016), the Poetry Foundation in Chicago (2015), at the Biblioteca Francisco de Burgoa in Mexico (2015) and at the Alpineum in Luzern (2014). Past group shows include The Drawing Center (NY), P.S. 1 (NY), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), and numerous other venues. She has received awards from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Illinois Arts Council, Artadia, etc. Articles and reviews on her work have appeared in national and international publications including Art Forum, Art in America and Letras Libres. Frid was born in Mexico City where she lived as a child until her family immigrated to Canada. She currently lives in Chicago and is an Associate Professor in the Art Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
