Letter from Emilio As we head into the summer months, we’re celebrating the fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and godfathers that have shaped and greatly influenced our lives.
For me, my grandfather was the source for my first true love of food. My earliest memories as a young boy go back to when we used to visit with my grandparents for Sunday dinner every week. I couldn’t wait to get there. I used to plant myself in the kitchen because I knew that I would be helping my grandfather cook, or at least he let me think that. What I was really doing was taste testing, or actually eating with him. This is where I learned to really enjoy eating. For the Di Bruno Bros. family, the center of all celebrations is the great food we get to share with great people. In the summer months, it’s about an awesome charcuterie board for an outdoor picnic, packing up hoagies to tailgate at Citizens Bank Park or eat for lunch on a beautiful beach day, and the endless delicious cheese and toppings on a burger at the annual Father’s Day barbeque.
This year, Father’s Day is even more special for my brother, cousin, and me as we honor our grandfather and uncle who created Di Bruno Bros. 80 years ago. We don’t take this anniversary lightly. It means that we have earned the trust of the people of Philadelphia who really embraced our family. We’ve experienced incredible growth over the past 30 years and have been welcomed into the lives of people all over the country through our e-commerce business and catered events.
