USING ECOLOGY AS URBAN CATALYST

The site is located in the historic district of Huayuan Street, Nangang District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, China. This area is located in the center of the city. The Garden District has typical Russian-style residential buildings, all of which have a history of a hundred years, and are the "living fossils" of the city's historical districts. The block is also an area where ancient and famous trees are concentrated in Harbin. But for half a century, the illegal and private construction here has not stopped. The direct consequence is that the old houses are submerged in the private houses, and the old houses have been rebuilt and changed beyond recognition. Many houses are empty and uninhabited, and some places are overgrown with weeds and look very decayed, making it slowly become a patch of the city.

Now Harbin City proposes to carry out urban renewal and transformation in this area, I select four plots of garden street to carry out urban renewal design and carry out conceptual urban design.
We don't usually come here, but occasionally because some of the snack shops are pretty good. I actually think it has a very historical feel to it, but the status quo is really too dilapidated.

The transportation around the venue is convenient, with subway lines passing by and a large number of bus stops around.
Only the row of ginkgo trees here is very good. In summer, this side is really sunburned, and there is no good place to rest. Generally, people rarely come here.

The four sites adopt four forms of ecological catalysts, and at the same time, the ecology combines different functional spaces to increase the vitality of the site. Taking ecology as the main urban catalyst, it spreads to surrounding plots through green corridors, forming the green heart of the area. Revitalize the area through ecology.
RENDERINGS
Using ecology as the medium of urban catalyst, I conceived four ecological catalyst methods for four plots, namely, green axis park green space, large-area centralized green space park, flaky scattered park green space and central sports park. At the same time, different functions are combined in the four catalyst forms to increase the vitality of the site and promote urban renewal.

The Renovation Design of the Huangshi Huaxin Cement Plant

Site analysis
Huaxin Cement Factory is located in the center of Huangshi, Hubei, at No. 145 Huangshi Avenue, Huangshi Port District. It is the earliest, largest and most complete cement industry relic in China. The factory area is adjacent to Huangshi Avenue in the north, Fengyeshan Road in the west, and the straight-line distance from the Yangtze River in the southeast is about 500m. The three sides are residential buildings, and the overall planning area is about 60 hectares (including Fengyeshan).In view of the Huangshi government's positioning of the area as a cultural site, the student positioned Huaxin Cement Factory as "cement industry museum + city park". It aims to build Huaxin Cement Plant into a comprehensive tourist attraction integrating culture, commerce, residence, leisure and sightseeing. Through the investigation and statistics of the existing industrial buildings on the site, the area near the main entrance is selected as the key design area, with an area of about 6.3ha.

OTHER NEARBY RESIDENTS: Now the business is developing faster and faster, but there are too few leisure places. I heard that the nearby ones will be turned into scenic spots, but climbing the mountain is too tiring, not suitable for daily leisure.
TOURISTS: I like to travel to different cities. heard that there is a cement industry museum here. How is this different from other places? The boring exhibition is the most boring.

The existing format is mainly to facilitate the daily life of residents, and lacks the functions for the student population. At the same time, the existing format has problems such as low quality and imperfect functions. The change of positioning and function replacement after the renovation of the heritage will bring about huge changes, and the target audience will also expand from local residents to foreign tourists.

Visitors mainly enter the site from the east entrance. Residents enter the site from the community center on the south side. On the basis of the original roads, the pedestrian roads in the site are newly added to increase the accessibility of each building. Vehicle traffic

A vertical height difference of 4.8m divides Huaxin Cement Plant into two north and south areas. The north area is high and is the production area, and the south area is low and is the living area.
Functional Division
The external traffic flow mainly parks the car in the large parking lot at the main entrance, walks to the community center, and then starts the circulation.
Residents can park their cars at the community center to alleviate the tight parking problem in the community.

Recreational and Sports Center
The building is transformed from the original six-tube cement silo. After the transformation, it is used as a cultural and sports activity center, including gymnasium, rock climbing hall and other sports functions, as well as some exhibition functions. The height of the original building was about 30m, and the top floor was transformed into a restaurant, overlooking the entire factory area.

The building is transformed from the original combined storage and drying workshop. As the first old industrial building visited by tourists, it is mainly used for comprehensive industrial exhibitions, and its internal exhibitions have the characteristics of diversity, variability and temporary .
MASTER PLAN
Community Center
The plot near the entrance of the site is selected as the land for new construction. The community center is located at the junction of the living area and the production area in the factory area, and there is a 4.8m height difference running through it from east to west. As the first main building,after entering the factory area, it can be used as a place for residents' daily activities and a tourist information center.

WETLAND PARK DESIGN

Course Name:Waterfront Landscape Design Tutor:Kan Shengda
The project selects the central reservoir in Chengnan District of Chuzhou City, and transforms it into an urban wetland park according to the future urban planning of the region. The project integrates into the overall green space system, and at the same time combines the unique environmental advantages of the site to create a resilient urban natural sanctuary. The park will provide a variety of ecosystem services, including water filtration and purification, bird and other wildlife habitat, and public spaces for high-quality recreational activities for citizens.
SITE ANALYSIS
The site is located on the west side of Chengnan New District, Chuzhou City. The base is 610M from north to south, 368 meters long from east to west on the south side, 140 meters long from east to west on the north side, and has a water area of 9 hectares. The total area is 16.7 hectares (about 250.5 mu). The planned area extends to Quanjiao Road in the west, You'an Road in the east, Dongpo West Road in the north, and Zuiweng Road in the south.

PROBLEM ANALYSIS
The silhouette of waterfowl has disappeared. According to the data, the number of migratory waterfowl has dropped sharply in the past ten years due to the current regional water pollution and other reasons.

The existing plant community on the site includes artificial shelterbelt, vegetables, rape and other crops, and aquatic plants such as lotus seed grass, and the community is stable. The vegetation species is single and the number is small, mainly concentrated around the revetment. Because of the extensive and intensive fish farming in the past, the water quality has been polluted. At present, the waters are deserted and lack maintenance, and there are domestic garbage.
Now and in the next few years, the site area is under construction in a planned way. The residences in the northwest area are already under construction, and the site will be in the stage of major construction in the next few years.

There are a large range of residential areas and schools around the site, with the central reservoir as the core, the surrounding ecological foundation is good, and the site traffic accessibility is good. In general, the ecological value and functional value of the whole area are very good
First, increase the ecological space of the site and restore the ecological damage caused by over-planting agriculture; create different ecological wetland islands to create a waterbird-friendly ecological environment; increase the public activity space and different chronic systems of the site, and increase the connection with surrounding cities through public space. The natural revetment is stabilized by the developed root system of plants and increases the ability of the floodresistant berm. Plants such as lotus and yarrow cover the water surface to form a wetland aquatic environment.

The terrain of the site is flat and there is no obvious height difference. Select the land that was previously deficient due to long-term agriculture, and transform it into public space and business, increase the functional value of the site, and at the same time add different slow-moving systems, design cruise functions, and increase the connection with the city through public space or activities.

The ecological floating island has evolved into an island that is truly connected to the foundation, with more abundant plant species and significantly improved ecological environment. The site has completely returned to nature, and the shallow water area has evolved into a shoal. As a transit stop for migratory birds' wintering route, Chuzhou, Anhui, attracts more and more migratory birds from the south.

The site is located behind Shijiazhuang Youth Palace, adjacent to Zhongtongcheng Square, with a total area of 4784 square meters (92mx52m). The site is conveniently located in the downtown area, with subway stations and bus stops.
There are several large residential areas, primary and secondary schools, office buildings, and large commercial land within the 10-minute living circle of 500m. Green stands for school, pink stands for residential area, and blue stands for office building.
The utilization rate of the site is not high and has been forgotten. There is no special parking space, and vehicles park randomly, which is easy to cause safety accidents.

In response to the current situation of the site, I have renovated the site. First, increase the public activity space for the site, increase the green space, and regulate the parking area. Then add youth activity equipment and sports facilities in the central square to facilitate the students of the Youth Palace to carry out outdoor activities. After that, a shelter was added to the site and it was designed as a corridor to increase the spatial layering and sheltering area, and add leisure facilities.
Finally, join the ecological farm, develop ecological education, and help link ecological corridors at the same time

Tall trees are planted neatly around the site, and shrubs of different sizes and shapes are planted sparsely or densely between the trees. The whole park adopts local characteristic plane trees, ginkgo as the key tree, but also peach trees and pear trees, plants collocation to create different characteristics of green plant space style, reflect the healthy ecological theme, create rich seasonal changes in the park, and form a big style of multi-level dyed forest.
