The two defeats were games w hich cou ld have gone

either way and only some tim e ly breaks in favor o f the opposition kept the Savages from a perfect slate. For the second straight year the V a lle y C ity V ik in g s captured the N D I A C crown w ith the Savages grabbing the runnerup spot. O n the basis o f games won and lost, the DSTC Sav­ ages had their poorest season In the past ten years as the lo cal cagers won 15 w h ile losing 9 in a 24 game schedule. Their record doesn't show everything, how­ ev er, as it was necessary for C oach H . J . W ienbergen to rebuild his squad during the m idd le of the cam paign when three key letterm en, big Jerry Linseth,

Oldenburg and Roger Huffm an le ft for m ilita ry service. Play in g w ith o n ly two upperclassmen, the Savages gave lo ca l fans some th rillin g exhibitions as they went through the season undefeated on the home court.
