Decorated in purple and gold , the P h i Sig colo rs, the scene was set for an e v e n i n g of dancing. The theme, “ T w ilig h t T im e ,” was cho­ sen and carried out by the P hi Sig fraternity.

Mr. S h effie ld came to Campus High in 1953 to becom e our instructor in art. H e is a n ative o f Iow a and the you n gest o f fiv e children. Mr. S h e ffie ld w as graduated from Story H igh School in Io w a ; he then attended Moorhead State C o lle g e for three y ea rs, and later fu lfille d his m ilitary o b liga tio n in the U n ited S tates M arines. A fte r m ilitary s e r v ic e , he returned to Moorhead, where he com pleted w ork for a b a c h e lo r’ s d egree. He worked during the summer months at a B oy Scout Camp. He r e c e iv e d h is M aster’ s D egree at T e a c h e rs C o lle g e , Colum bia U n iv e rs ity . Mr. S h effie ld is m arried to the former Dorothy Johnson and has tw o b oys, C linton Anson and P h illip Richard. B efore com ing to Campus H igh , Mr. S h effie ld taught at R apid C ity , South Dakota Junior High Sch ool, where he w as su pervisor o f the annual and art teacher. Mr. S h effield is membership chairman o f Western A rts A s s o c ia tio n in North D akota. Among the other organ ization s in which he is a c tiv e are North Dakota E ducation A s s o c ia tio n and K iw a n is Club. In promoting the c h ild ren s’ in terest in art, he has had radio programs, exten sion c la s s e s , and art co n tests. With the proceeds from the exten sion c la s s e s , he purchased a kiln for the Cam­ pus High School and D .S .T .C . Campus H igh has had many e x c e lle n t flo a ts among which s e v e ra l have won p riz e s . C redit can be g iv e n to Mr. S h e ffie ld for the d is p la y s o f art work which have been admired at Campus H igh Prom s. T h e proms h ave le ft with us lin gerin g m em ories o f our Junior-Senior days. Mr. Sh ef­ fie ld ’ s high s c h o o l art c la s s e s have been resp o n sib le for many com m endable p ro jects such as the Indian M o sa ics, Christm as program co vers and the rural sch o o l b u ild in g for the N E A C en ten n ial.
