No love, no friendship can ever cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark upon it forever.

N o one will ever forget the loss o f our friends, Barbara Buchholz and M ilody Johnson. Both were D SC students and lost their lives in car accidents. Let there always be a space in our heart for them. - The Editor

| President's Message I Dear Students, It is a pleasure to welcome yo u to DSC, Your decision to enter college indicates yo u r serious desire to prepare yourself to take a responsible place in society. DSC recognizes its responsibility to yo u , and its academic approach has two basic assumptions: that education is something that happens to an individual and that each individual is different. Within this context the college will seek, first, to develop in each o f yo u the abilities, the curiosity, and the motivation which will enable yo u to increasingly assume the responsibility fo r yo u r own education, both now and later - the ability; in short, to become intellectually independent. Secondly, DSC will seek to convey to yo u a belief in the value o f the kinds o f intellectual activity in which the college is engaged. T hese o b jectives fo r m th e e sse n tia l m ea n in g o f a ' ‘liberal education. The college m ust work in this way because we recognize that the flooding tide o f new knowledge overruns the stabilities o f the past. There is no possibility o f giving tom orrow ’s answers, fo r we do not even know tomorrow ’f conditions. Instead o f answers, we m ust give you processes fo r reaching answers and a base from which yo u may continue to build the structure yo u will need tomorrow. I wish fo r yo u , on behalf o f the whole college, a very successful and happy college life. A ip ert Watrel President DSC
