THE PRESIDENT AND THE STATE BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION A c a d e m ic Year 1986-87 has been one of the m ost e x c itin g and p ro d u c tive p e rio d s in the 6 9 -ye a r pro u d h isto ry of this unique institution. P ro g re ssiv e , in n o v a tive and e xp a n d in g, D ic k in so n State has becom e one of the finest in stitu tio n s of h ig h e r learning in the U nite d States. Like the purest ra y se re n e D S U is not yet nationally-know n, but our superb faculty, w h ic h h o ld s term inal d e g re e s from p re stig io u s un ive rsitie s from the U.S. and abroad, has inevitably attra cted a w id e r circle of stu dents w ho sp re a d the w o rd about the high -quality edu ca tion they receive. T his yea r w e have had the h ig h e st enrollm ent in recent history, continuing the annual gro w th w e h a ve e x p e rie n c e d in the last decade. D S U is on the th re sh old of an even brighter, m ore e x c itin g future a nd the intention is to face that future w ith c o n fid e n ce and courage, in the k n o w le d ge that our fo u n d a tio n s are firm , our p ro g ram s are in place, a nd o ur c o u rse is true. W h e n you return to D S U in the co m ing years, I k n o w that yo u will see even fu rth er g ro w th and expansion, but you can look b ack w ith p rid e on the year w hen e v e ry th in g cam e together.
