Warmed by the African sun and dominated by flat-topped Table Mountain, the city is set on a peninsula of sandy beaches, rocky precipices and lush valleys. Firmly positioned on the international map, Cape Town offers the bright city lights of theaters, restaurants and a bustling working waterfront, with plenty to see and do. Full Day Cape Peninsula Tour

Thursday, 04 October 2018 More information: https://pdf.didgigo.com/

DETAILS This tour makes its way from Cape Town to the Cape Point Nature Reserve, where you are able to ride the Funicular (optional) to the viewpoint where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. The Cape Peninsula is the thin finger of land in the southwestern most corner of Africa with the city of Cape Town at its head. The Peninsula can be divided into the Atlantic coast on the west (including the City of Cape Town) and the False Bay coast on the east. With nothing but water all around the peninsula, the weather can be a little unpredictable and the wind can whip itself up into a fury. Luckily when it is howling on one side it is normally quiet on the other, so you can always find a sheltered spot. On leaving the Nature Reserve, proceed to Simonstown, where you stop for lunch, as well as a short stop at Boulders Beach, home to the Boulders Penguin Colony. Almost 3000 African ‘jackass’ penguins, so called because their call resembles the bray of a donkey, reign supreme amidst rounded rocks and fish-filled False Bay. These endangered, flightless birds are free to roam the seas and return to their private haven – Foxy Beach at Boulders. Enjoy your live encounter with these fascinating creatures before returning to Cape Town for the end of your tour.

Welcome to Tanzania TUESDAY, 09 OCTOBER 2018 A wonderful destination offering great variety of animals, birds, scenery, islands and cultural experiences, and home to the Maasai people dressed in colourful red clothing. Safaris in Tanzania are amongst the most celebrated in the world – there is simply so much wildlife and so many different landscapes to explore. You may choose to relax on the heavenly beaches of Zanzibar – world famous for diving – or explore the country’s many areas of natural beauty and national parks. Visit the Serengeti, famed for the annual migration of prolific amounts of game, and the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and true Garden of Eden which cocoons an array of wildlife. There are also several other lesser-known wildlife attractions: you might see rare sable and roan antelopes in Katavi National Park, or trek for chimpanzees in the Mahale Mountains. Those seeking a challenge could attempt to climb Kilimanjaro – a once in a lifetime experience made more enjoyable by our dedicated climbing operation staff who experts in the area and carry the finest equipment. Visit Mahale Mountains, Lake Tanganyika and Selous Game Reserve, and end with a visit to exotic Zanzibar. More information: https://pdf.didgigo. com/mXPluLXrRQ

SAFARI IN STYLE In the heart of Maasai country and a remote corner of the Tarangire, in total seclusion amongst giant acacia trees and looking out beyond the flat savannah, Sanctuary Swala offers a very exclusive safari experience. The picturesque landscape is filled with ancient baobab trees, ambling elephants and birds in flight. Built to the highest eco-friendly standards, this camp has a particularly low-carbon footprint. Sanctuary Swala offers fantastic safari accommodation in Tarangire National Park – one of the less visited parks in Tanzania. Home to the only permanent water source in the area, the lodge offers unmatched views. Look across the infinity pool to a waterhole that enjoys frequent visits from Tarangire’s famously large elephant herds as well as hundreds of impala. The spacious accommodation is dressed in campaign furniture, and each room has its own private balcony. Situated off the beaten track, the sense of staying in your own secluded kingdom is emphasized when you are introduced to your personal butler. Game Drives - Tarangire National Park

Wednesday, 10 October 2018 More information: https://pdf.didgigo.com/

DETAILS One of the lesser-known game reserves in Tanzania, Tarangire rivals the Serengeti in the great number and diversity of its wildlife. It is a good choice for travellers who wish to encounter more animals and less tourists while on safari. The park is named after the Tarangire river that flows permanently and is the only source of water in the dry season, when it is quite common to spot huge herds of elephants of over 100 individuals that go down to the river to drink or cool off in the water; the most numerous herds that can be encountered in Africa. Predators can also be easily spotted, especially lions, lurking in the vicinity of the river waiting for their prey. The park is also home to many species of herbivorous, such as impalas, kudus, elephants, warthogs, elands, reedbucks, wildebeests, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, ostriches, duikers, klipspringers, gazelles, waterbucks, hartebeests and dik-diks; it is also the only place in Tanzania where you can spot fringedears oryx and gerenuk; among carnivores, you can sight lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, caracals, honey badgers, servals, bat-eared foxed, aardwolves, common dwarf mongooses and wild dogs; there is no lack of birds either: about 500 species of migrant and resident birds live in the park.

Serengeti National Park FRIDAY, 12 OCTOBER 2018 The Serengeti National Park is a Tanzanian national park in the Serengeti ecosystem in the Mara and Simiyu regions. It is famous for its annual migration of over 1.5 million white-bearded (or brindled) wildebeest and 250,000 zebra, and for its numerous lions, Nile crocodiles and honey badgers. The name “Serengeti” is an approximation of the word used by the Maasai to describe the area, siringet, which means “the place where the land runs on forever”. The park is Tanzania’s oldest national park and covers 14,750 square kilometres (5,700 sq mi) of grassland plains, savanna, riverine forest, and woodlands. The Serengeti has earned the titles of one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of Africa” and one of the “Ten Natural Travel Wonders of the World” for being the site of the largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world (about 2 million animals!). However, even without the Great Migration, the park sports the densest lion population in the world at over 3,000 lions, and is home to all members of the Big Five and almost 500 bird species.

SAFARI TENT The only permanent camp in the Serengeti’s remote south, Sanctuary Kusini has the privilege of overlooking predator-populated plains where game viewing is in high-definition throughout the calendar. The main lodge is set around a cluster of spectacular kopjes – rocky outcrops – so at Sanctuary Kusini you don’t just have front-row seats for when the Great Migration passes through at full throttle, but you can ogle game congregating on these grassy plains year-round. The classic safari-tent-style rooms have been built on elevated terraces and carefully positioned to make the most of savannah or woodland views. It is in this part of the Serengeti that you can experience the extraordinary calving season of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle between January and March. You’re also invited to take part in the exciting Serengeti Cheetah Project; with a guide, you’ll head out in search of cheetah and learn how to identify and photograph them. After a day of exhilarating wildlife, sit atop the main kopje and relax into a ‘cosmic safari’ with the comfort of cushions and a campfire. Africa’s famously enormous skies make for spectacular star gazing.

Victoria Falls SUNDAY, 14 OCTOBER 2018 Victoria Falls presents a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It was described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800’s as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. In more modern terms Victoria Falls is known as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world. Columns of spray can be seen from miles away as, at the height of the rainy season, more than five hundred million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge, over a width of nearly two kilometers, into a gorge over one hundred meters below. There is a magic about the falls manifested in the towering column of spray when the river is high, the thunder of the falling water, the terrifying abyss and tranquil lagoons upstream in which hippo and deadly crocodiles lurk. Victoria Falls town lies on the southern bank of the Zambezi River at the eastern end of the Victoria Falls themselves. Victoria Falls Airport is 18 km south of the town and has international flights to Johannesburg and Namibia.

Seat assignments Where possible your Travel Company consultant will pre-assign complimentary seating when available. In many cases the airlines flying to Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific no longer offer complimentary pre-assigned seating and seats can now be selected on the airline website. If you would like to pre-purchase seating for your flights please use the airline booking number listed on your flight itinerary/Eticket receipt and select seats and pay directly to the relevant airline. When selecting seats you will be given many options to consider besides standard seating such as extra legroom and exit rows. If you would like to receive pricing options to upgrade your seat to a Skycouch, premium economy or business class seat please contact your Travel Company consultant for an exact quote. Frequent Flyer Mileage accrual Most airlines that fly to Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific partner with US-based airlines to enable you to accrue mileage on a partner airline. Your Travel Company consultant can enter your frequent flyer number into your reservation but by doing so is not a guarantee of mileage accrual. Many airlines no longer pay mileage on the lowest coach booking classes. In many cases, no mileage will apply for sale fares and in most discounted coach class airfares the maximum mileage accrued is 50%. Premium economy, business class and first class reservations usually earn full and bonus mileage. Travel Company does not take responsibility for the airlines policies for non-credit of mileage for certain airfare booking classes. Please ask your Travel Company consultant if you require more information. Keeping informed on the move To keep informed of any possible flight schedule changes or cancellations whilst you travel we recommend downloading the Tripigo application if you travel with a Smartphone or tablet. We can use your preferred email address and you will receive email notifications from the airlines in regard to your flights. As well as flight notifications, the app provides many more features whilst travelling such as local airline contact numbers, directions to your departure airport and local weather conditions.
