CULTURE BOX Rome, quartiere Flaminio bachelor thesis (three-years degree) edevelopment of a disused area 2017 D. Sanna supervisor prof.ssa C. Clemente ; correlator prof.ssa S. Baiani
Culture Box is a meeting point for the inhabitants, where children, young people, adults and the elderly can meet, confront and grow together the identity of the community. Starting from a degraded and little used area, since it is limited to a single use, we have chosen to include within the project new activities that not only give new life to the market, but also connect with all the rban activities surroundings; placing this area in contact with the entire neighborhood Flaminio, and making it become an integral and central part of it. The design starts with the choice of keeping the marketplaces along the external perimeter, so that they will have greater independence and space. All the new functions have been placed in the central core in stereometric pavilions in X-LAM raised on steel platforms and connected to each other by an uphill path, symbol of the hard way to go for the design and development of a project .

HOTEL VIA GIULIA Rome, via Giulia lab. prog. 1M 2018 D. Sanna with F. Bonacci prof. S. Cordeschi The object of the workshop was the design of a new 4-star hotel in the area of Via Giulia in Rome. The project area is characterized by the presence of archaeological remains and is part of a well-established historical context. The aim of the laboratory was therefore to insert a new building in compliance with the archaeological limits. The proposal put forward by our design group includes three buildings, two of which (adjacent) used as hotel and one with public functions.

HYPERDENSITY Roma, quartiere Tufello architecture technology energy retrofit project 2018 D. Sanna with A. Rossi and S. Mori prof. C. Tonelli In a city as widespread as Rome, the need arises to have to relate to buildings, relatively young, in a state of advanced degradation. By seizing the opportunity of energy retrofit, we have increased the living capacity of the analyzed building, imagining a superelevation in response to the need for new housing for the population of Rome.

ÉCRIN CHAMPAGNE Grenoble, Digital RDL research by design laboratory 2019 D. Sanna with O. Leclerc, C. Passas, M. Roux, C. Tamai, C. Vieira prof. P. Liveneau A coworking space for GEM (Grenoble School of Management). The project developed through a group exploration of materials, geometry and human posture. Entirely designed with parametric software, “Ecrin” is composed of different parts and has no structure: it is stable thanks to its shape and properties of the material. An organic and elegant form, tested on the acoustic perception and the space, gives an intimacy to those who use it. The plates that make up the object have been etched and cut: the result is the discretization of a curved surface in a triangular pattern. After performing various stability tests, we decided to connect the different plates with tabs and stabilized with semi-circular Plexiglas connectors. In this way, ribs were formed and this allowed the object to self-support. The organization and supply of all the parts needed for assembly was very important. Even choosing screws, washers and bolts, nothing was left to chance.

SMART CAMPUS Grenoble, UniversitĂŠ Grenoble-Alpes data visualization 2019 D. Sanna with M. Noury prof. A. Ben Saci, P. Marin With the geolocation of the various university buildings and the TAG bus and tram lines, we have devised an app for students to quickly learn about the best-served places and services nearby. At first, in order to be able to locate our data on a map, we imported a map from Open Street Map, which is already a data source. We divided the data into a subgroup to control the ones we wanted to display. We then defined reference points at the extremities, which allowed the positioning of all the other points. After the basemap being defined, we were able to import the other data, in the same way as the .osm one, but the coordinates could be read and positioned on the map. Once all the data was present and visible, the question was to be able to sort this visibility and to adjust its representation. The idea is to represent a circle around the points (each of its points being associated with a building sorted by type), so we could choose a type of building and its radiation in meters to be able to estimate distances and cross the informations. We chose the data we wanted to show in order to import maps and to put them on a suitable software. Thanks to Grasshopper and HumanUi plugin, we could simplify the interface of Grasshopper to keep the essentials. The user can choose on this interface the buildings he wants to see. He can then choose the extent of the ray and its color. We could later add options on this interface, as two types of buildings appear at the same time or the TAG lines.

LIGHTS ON Rome, quartiere Ostiense lab. prog. III new neighborhood library 2015 D.Sanna prof. A. Giancotti The project is designed to establish a connection between the urban fabric and some elements of significant historical importance belonging to it. The composition of a recognizable architectural image was considered necessary, which can fully express the importance - without removing space and visibility to the historical and industrial findings - of the creation of a library in a neighborhood that lives on a continuous urban dynamism . Maintaining a conservative approach, we wanted first to frame and incorporate the existing ones and, in a second time, lay the foundations for the composition of the new building.
