ATHLETICS

THE SIMPSON COLLEGE ATHLETICS PROGRAM IS ABOUT TRADITION. IT’S ABOUT PRIDE. IT’S ABOUT PLAYING IN A COMPETITIVE CONFERENCE FOR A CHANCE AT REGIONAL AND NATIONAL TITLES EACH YEAR. IT’S ALSO ABOUT WINNING— 20 NATIONAL TEAM OR INDIVIDUAL TITLES IN THE PAST 25 YEARS.

But it’s so much more than the opportunity to compete. It’s camaraderie and creating a family away from home. It’s new experiences and personal development. It’s state-of-the-art athletic facilities. It’s coaches who care about you as a person and an athlete. It’s a great way to continue your passion for athletics while earning a well-respected college degree.

PRIDE AND PRECEDENT... here’s beauty in the fact that some things remain the same. Founded in 1860, Simpson is a college steeped in tradition— from its historic campus architecture to the flaunting of our Red and Gold. We’re proud of the traditions that span our 154 years. The success of our student-athletes is a constant reminder we’re at the top of our game.

A TRADITION OF SUCCESS

BEYOND THE FIELD… t Simpson it’s not uncommon for athletes to look at their coaches and professors as life mentors. It’s just part of our culture at Simpson. Our coaches come to the job knowing they aren’t here just to win games but to help shape the spirit of the athlete. Athletes give their best performances out of respect and admiration for their beloved coaches and fellow teammates. Relationships run deep among our college family, and we pride ourselves in the personal interest that our coaches, professors, alumni and community members take in our students. Your college experience at Simpson will be richer and much more rewarding because of these relationships.

“THE SIMPSON FOOTBALL EXPERIENCE IS ALL ABOUT COMPETITION. WE WANT YOU TO COMPETE IN THE CLASSROOM, ON THE FIELD OF PLAY AND IN THE GAME OF LIFE TO ENSURE THAT YOU REACH YOUR FULL POTENTIAL.” -Jim Glogowski, head football coach

FACILITATING

SUCCESS We provide our student-athletes with excellent facilities to build and showcase their talents. The newest addition to help achieve athletic success is the Steven Johnson Fitness Center. The $6 million renovation is highlighted by a 4,500-square-foot cardiovascular deck overlooking a 5,500-square-foot strength and conditioning room. The stunning facility overlooks Bill Buxton Stadium through an all-glass exterior, providing an impressive view to those inside and out.

Teams competing at Buxton Stadium do so on a state-of-theart Field Turf Revolution playing surface and a new eight-lane, Beynon synthetic track. Cowles Fieldhouse serves as the primary indoor facility and is the home of Storm basketball, volleyball and wrestling. The multi-purpose facility can seat up to 3,000

spectators and is highlighted by a large, LED video board display measuring 11 ½ feet wide and 8 ½ feet tall. The swimming teams have the luxury of competing at one of the Midwest’s finest Division III facilities, the Indianola YMCA Natatorium. The YMCA opened in 2013 and features a 13.5-feet deep end, eight 25-yard lanes, two one-meter diving boards and a three-meter diving board. Other facilities include: • McBride Field (baseball) • Simpson Softball Complex • Dick and Nancy Buxton Tennis Complex • Indianola Country Club (golf ) • Pickard Park (cross country)
