The College of Arts & Sciences was the first project designed and built following the completion of the Sasaki/URS campus master plan, “Landscape for Learning” in 1998.
Located on a significant intersection near the center of campus, the building frames both a new campus green and acts as a gateway to the University.
It was conceived in academic vernacular to create a strong archetype for the large amount of work to follow.
Two large masonry masses, interwoven with a sweeping form of glass curtain-wall, have a commanding presence over the intersection. In keeping with the directives of the master plan, the building encourages pedestrian flow through the building’s atrium .

JOSHI RESEARCH CENTER for ADVANCED DATA MANAGEMENT Wright Center of Innovation Wright State University Open 2006 50,000sf $10m The Joshi Research Center is the result of a groundbreaking public/private partnership established to foster market-driven science as an engine for regional economic development. Centered around advanced data management, resident scholars from academia and private industry work with team of graduate students in dedicated labs and are supported by cutting edge technologies. As an addition to the Russ College of Engineering, a large and somewhat hulking 4story brick structure, the Joshi Center strives for an open and welcoming embrace to the exterior; a clear gesture toward the partnerships that founded the program. At the south faรงade, a sloped sidewalk to the right leads down to the academic entry and the main campus green. Likewise, a sloped walk to the left lead upward to the corporate lobby of the Wright Center of Innovation where an immersive, 3-d laboratory is on full display.
