Body found near school

Photo: TK Mashaba TK Mashaba The body of an unknown woman was found in a farrow near Modderspruit Primary School on Tuesday, 4 August at around 10:00. The body was concealed in the veld beside the Alma road next to Marulane Game Lodge.

Constable Maria Maleto, requests that the community report any missing persons at the station, as that might assist them in discovering the identity of the deceased.

She said that since the woman’s cause of death was not yet known, there will be an investigation to determine what happened to her.

“It is sad to have cases such as these, especially during Women’s Month,” she

said.

The body was found by two men who were on their way to fetch water from the school.

According to the men, they smelled something foul and went to investigate.

They found the body of the woman in the veld. She was naked except for a bra, and appeared to have been there for some time.

They raised the alarm and the school’s

principal, Zanele Ledwaba phoned the police.

A case has been opened and investigations are continuing.

Ledwaba said that it was one of the most disturbing sights she had ever seen.

“Society has been in a strange mindset recently,” she said. “I hope that the people who do such things, will be brought to justice.”

Mogalakwena councillor accused of RDP cronyism Lizzy Bapela The DA in Mogalakwena wrote to the Speaker of the local municipality, Andrina Marsemela, to summon ANC councillor David Langa of Ward 11 to appear before the Ethics Committee to explain his alleged interference in the allocation of RDP houses in his ward.

It is alleged that the councillor has interfered with RDP housing lists and has opted to neglect people in desperate need of the houses who have been waiting their turn in the

queue.

During an oversight visit to Kwenaite Village in Ward 11, Bakenberg, the DA met with families who have watched Langa’s relatives jump the queue. On family of ten people is sharing a dilapidated two-room house, while another nine-person family shares one shack. The latter family has two disabled children.

“All these families have been applying for RDP houses, while the councillor’s family, friends and comrades get houses before people in need,” said DA councillor in

Mogalakwena Local Municipality Charlotte Senosha.

“The DA urges the Speaker to accelerate the process of investigation and disciplinary action in this matter. We also call on the municipality to urgently meet with Ward 11 residents and to open the housing list up to public scrutiny so that every applicant has a fair chance at obtaining a house they can call home,” she said.

At the time of going to press, municipal spokesperson Malesela Selokela had not yet responded to the allegations.

TK Mashaba On Monday, 3 August, the BelaBela SAPS received information on the whereabouts for four suspects who are alleged to have committed a series of business robberies in the Bela-Bela area.

The suspects, three African men and a Pakistani man aged between 22 and 45 years old, were found at Moretele Park and Ngobi, a village outside Bela-Bela. They were allegedly in possession of suspected

stolen property including groceries, airtime and cutlery.

They appeared in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 3 August, and their case was postponed to Thursday, 13 August.

Bela-Bela SAPS Communications Officer Constable Maria Maleto thanked the members of the community who assisted the police with the arrest, and encouraged the community to report suspicious activities and people to aid in the fight against crime.

Modimolle licensing operator Alleged mall mugger apprehended Justin Steyn charged with corruption Lizzy Bapela A licencing operator at the Licensing Department in Modimolle appeared before the local magistrate’s court on Tuesday, 28 July on three charges of corruption. David Sello Nawa was arrested on Monday, 27 July.

According to the police spokesperson Warrant Officer James Findlay, Nawa allegedly re-registered vehicles that were still under finance and fraudulently changed the ownership without the original registration papers, as the bank keeps the original papers until the vehicle is paid up.

The Detectives noticed this irregularity when they checked the E-NATIS system. Detective Warrant Officer Ross Rossouw visited the Licensing Department and drew the files of the specific vehicles, which came from Montoya Motors. He found no original registration papers in the files.

Warrant Officer Rossouw requests community members to contact him on 072 118 9088 if they had to do with the suspect in any way and they suspect any

irregularities.

Meanwhile, attempts to get comment from the owners of Montoya Motors failed dismally as they are reported to have changed their contact numbers since their arrest following allegations of operating the garage fraudulently.

The owners, Ismail Essack and his son Mohammed were arrested in May after several charges of fraud were levelled against them.

They were released on R1 000 bail each and are expected back in court shortly. A Financial Institution allegedly seized 19 vehicles from the garage’s premises and as a precautionary measure, the investigating officer in the case confiscated the remaining nine vehicle’s keys.

According to the police, some of the complainants paid for vehicles, but never received them and others sold the garage their vehicles or traded them in for other vehicles and also, their vehicles were not settled at the relevant bank for outstanding moneys owed. The owners then had to pay the vehicle they bought at the bank and their old vehicle that they traded-in as well.

Victims of the alleged ‘mall mugger’ in Bela-Bela might be able to sleep soundly after it was reported that an arrest has been made in this case.

It has been reported that an unknown man has been robbing employees of the Bela-Mall when they travel home through the town’s industrial area after dark. One such victim said that she was robbed by the man and hit repeatedly with a hammer.

Lieutenant-Colonel Abel Phetla of the Bela-Bela police said that they have been following a few inside leads to these attacks and found that 19-year old Joseph Nkuna had been linked to the crimes.

Pending police investigations, Nkuna was arrested at his home in the Bela-Bela Township on Wednesday 22 July. A Nokia cell phone, allegedly belonging to one of the victims, was recovered.

Phetla said that there have been no incidents of the same nature since the arrest.

He also said that two of the victims were able to identify Nkuna during recent identity parades.

Mayor to tend to rural safety woes Justin Steyn

Stakeholders and several attendees of the monthly rural safety meeting have been complaining about infrastructural issues in Bela-Bela for the past few months without a word or comment from the local municipality.

However, attendants were pleasantly surprised when the town’s mayor, Lucas Nhlapo, attended this meeting for the very

first time.

The biggest issue for all who attended was the stray cattle that have been wandering on the Towoomba road outside of Bela-Bela for months.

Naldu Pieterse of Tromar EMS said that the emergency services has attended to plenty of accidents concerning the stray cattle but said that there were no fatalities reported.

It has also been reported that a farmer in the area gathers stray cattle and keeps them until

the owners claim them. This often comes with a costly fee.

Nhlapo said that the issue regarding an unused pound in Modimolle has been taken to provincial authorities and that it is unclear if stray cattle will be placed there.

The issue of wood selling has risen once again with hawkers being reported on the R101 road en route to Thabazimbi. Johan Mills, chairperson of AfriForum in BelaBela, noted that there have been reports of wood sellers in and around Hoërskool

Warmbad. Nhlapo said that the municipality is currently developing bylaws for these wood sellers and other hawkers, and is expected to take in effect in the beginning of September.

Before any more complaints and suggested were heard, the station’s commander Lindie Marx suggested that a formal letter be compiled and e-mailed to the mayor’s office.

The event was part of the festivities that were held during the hand-over ceremony of the cheque from Brenner Mills. Modimolle Primary School held this event in conjunction with Brenner Mills and the beverage company Twizza.

Mr Christian Mangwedi Phala thanked the parents and educators for supporting learners throughout the first round of the competition.

Phala vowed that his school would work hard to claim another prize in the second round of the competition, and took an opportunity to thank the maize meal company for hosting a competition

that encourages learners to work harder.

Phala also called on all other schools to encourage their learners to participate in this competition.

Jabu Mbatha who spoke on behalf of Brenner Mills, said it is part of their social responsibility to give back to the community.

Mbatha said that this competition is not the first and would not be the last, and further highlighted that the competition would continue till the third round.

“To all the other schools that did not make it, we are urging you to work harder in order to stand a good chance of winning the next round”, he said.

Twizza activation representative Ivan Makgobotloane said they were delighted to be part of this event, especially given the fact that it was all about giving back to the community.

Twizza ran prize give-aways during the event, where learners won backpacks, soft drinks and school

stationery.

Modimolle Primary School principal Raesetja Ramaloko said she was delighted with the learners for showing commitment, and for helping the school win this competition.

Ramaloko also thanked Phala who spearheaded the project and all the teachers for motivating the learners.

She said they would start from the bottom and work harder to ensure that they win both the second and third rounds of the competition.

The competition gives all the five primary schools in Modimolle a chance to enter by collecting empty bags of Cup Final Super Maize Meal, with the highest collector winning prize-money for their efforts.

The prize for the second round would be another R16 000, and a staggering R18 000 would be awarded to the school that wins the third round.

Three arrested in drugrelated incident Marlene Vermaak Three suspects were arrested, a car impounded and a case opened on Thursday, 30 July, in a suspected drug-related incident.

“A man came to the Vaalvater Police Station and reported that he had been drugged and robbed,” said Constable Simon Makhuvele of the Vaalwater SAPS. “Apparently he was hitchhiking to Modimolle when three men in a white Hyundai with Gauteng number plates offered him a lift. He said that he had been injected with an unknown substance, and shortly began to feel dizzy and ‘spaced out’. The three divested him of all his valuables and dumped him on the side of the road like a sack of potatoes.”

The three suspects were arrested later on the same day, and police are said to have found syringes in their vehicles.

An investigation has been opened, and a laboratory has been asked to identify the drug in the syringes.

“We suspect that there could have been more than one such incident,” said Makhuvele. “We urge anyone who may have fallen victim to a similar incident to please report the case at the nearest police

MEC aims for good governance in schools Lizzy Bapela The MEC for Education in Limpopo Ishmael Kgetjepe is embarking on meetings with the newly elected members of Schools Governing Body (SGB) in different parts of the province as part of inaugurating them.

Departmental spokesperson Doctor Naledzani Rasila said that the meetings are aimed at addressing the SGB members on good governance in schools. The first event took place in the Capricorn District on Friday, 31 July, with Waterberg’s expected to take place sometime in August.

“The role of the SGB is to ensure that the school runs smoothly and efficiently. They are there to contribute in improving the quality of education and ensure good governance in schools. With functional SGBs, the schools will be able to work towards delivering quality education across all the grades,” said Doctor Rasila.

Meanwhile, the Department has through their Employee Health and Wellness unit, organised a physical wellness day for educators across the province in line with the theme; “striving for a competent and a motivated work force”. This is a pilot project targeting one teaching cluster in all the districts and focuses on the motto “a healthy mind creates a healthy body”.

Local resident’s modified car snatched TK Mashaba Bela-Bela’s Nicolas Malete spent R18 000 to upgrade the interior of his car, a large chunk of that on the sound equipment.

Unfortunately for him, when he woke up in the early morning of Friday, 31 July, his beloved Toyota Conquest was gone.

“I still can’t believe it, it feels like a dream,” he said.

The vehicle is grey and its registration number was CSH 862 L. Malete says that he cannot imagine how the thieves managed to push the car outside the yard, start it and drive off without anyone hearing.

“My car is loud,” he said. “Especially the power booster I installed. People can hear it from a distance but I didn’t hear anything that day.”

Malete said that he had called the police and was still hoping to have his beloved vehicle returned to him.

10-year old girl raped in Leseding Marlene Vermaak A ten-year old girl who lives in an informal settlement near Leseding in Vaalwater was allegedly raped on Wednesday 29 July. Three boys between the ages of 10 and 17 were allegedly involved in the incident.

The three suspects were arrested on the same day by the Vaalwater SAPS and have been moved to the Bosasa Youth Centre in

Polokwane.

“The Centre is experienced in handling minors charged with crimes, and the three will be held there until the investigation is completed,” said Constable Simon Makhuvele, spokesperson for the Vaalwater SAPS. The girl received medical and psychiatric help on the day the incident happened, and is recuperating at home.

The case is still under investigation by the Vaalwater SAPS.

MEC for the Department of Health and Social Development in Limpopo Joyce Mashamba, Waterberg District executive mayor Councillor Tlotlanang Mogotlane and Bela-Bela Mayor Lucas Nhlapo led the people in attending the event. Also present were the well-known drug fighting group named the Concerned Parents Fighting Against Drug Abuse (CoPFADA), Light of Africa, Community Policing Forum and members of the local House of Traditional leaders among others.

CoPFADA expressed their concerns over

their struggle for recognition from business communities and government leaders, saying that the problem is a disturbance to the society and affects all who live in the community. The group has conducted various marches with the intervention of the local SAPS and has even visited the homes of the dealers in trying to get the message throughout the area. They also do not miss court cases when such dealers appear, voicing their concerns in a form of picketing to get the magistrate in charge to hear their appeal to refuse bail to the suspects.

Meanwhile, the local Department of Health and Social Development, SAPS, stakeholder departments and members of various community based structures recently conducted a door-to-door campaign as a build-up to the event. The aim of the campaign was to compile a survey on the amount of drug usage and damage in the area in order to have a guideline when hosting the event. The campaign was also aimed at bringing people from all walks of life together and get them to share ideas and solutions to the problem.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR David Sebelebele writes: The DA Modimolle councillors vehemently challenges the ANC run-municipality to consider doing the honourable thing, stop making the beloved Modimolle municipality and its people a laughing stock.

Just recently and to more precise, seven days ago, this municipality once again did what it has both been good at and known for, appointing to the position with extraordinary public trust element an individual of both questionable and dubious track record.

This appointment was pushed through regardless of fierce DA opposition thereto over and above the unshakable reality that such exercise overwhelmingly defied all logic humanly imaginable.

This person who among others had been in the service and on the payroll of the municipality for all the wrong reasons has hitherto tangibly been implicated in cases of corruption and embezzlement running into millions of rands which by all standards are beyond quantification.

The overwhelming body of evidence attesting to the afore-going is inter alia at the disposal of CoGHSTA. Modimolle communities by and large deserve better including immediate suspension of this employee immediately above failing which DA in Modimolle will be dearth of any viable option except roping in other governmental institutions, including Chapter Nine Institutions.

The fit for purpose concept must be factored into the standard against which eligibility for any appointment at municipal level is determined if we are indeed serious about sustainable quality service delivery every South African citizen is constitutionally entitled to.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR Klaas Mabunda, a local resident, writes: The African proverb has in the recent days within the battle for the resuscitation of the fading ANCYL, gained relevance as it says; “It is not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog.”

It does so triumphant to the dislocation of tact and perhaps necessity for action or inaction, timing being a key role player, and thus we are charged with a responsibility to engage in our intrinsic selves, without being impressionists.

The occurrence towards or between Comrades Boy Mamabolo and Fikile Mbalula, is but the weakness in the comprehension of politics and what a politician is.

I do not remember a consistent occurrence wherein emotions are centres of consideration in politics, nor when bitterness is embraced by factuality, rather have I seen sympathy being eroded by our inability to contain our discontents.

Comrade Boy Mamabolo, I have known my entire political life, so is with Comrade Fikile Mbalula, but I also knew that in them there are political ambitions, ambitions which without discipline their realization is a deep wait, and therefore insults does not provide a monopoly to selfimportance.

Comrade Boy towards Comrade Fikile, threatened the moral standing of the ANCYL and its reputation thereto, attracting disciplinary actions against himself, particularly as the attack was levelled to Mbalula for the organizational decision he communicated to the Limpopo ANCYL PGC. The National Conference should make amendments on the ANCYL constitution, with regard to the use of social media, and impose punishments for such transgressions, so as to be able to impose sustainable disciplinary measures against ill-gotten behaviours.

We are all human, we are subjected by nature to err. However, our conduct should not render us blind to remembering that the integrity of the ANCYL is weakened by our utterances.

Both the NTT and the disgruntled ANCYL members in Limpopo must take kind lessons from the below African proverb as it says that; “The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”

The road ahead requires fit feet to walk on, thus the newly appointed Provincial Task Team should be supported at all material moments, in order to ensure that the strength of the ANC is not tempered with.

The continuity of wisdom is to remember to accept to be led.

Limpopo faces loss of life from initiation Lizzy Bapela Lizzy Bapela The MEC for the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) in Limpopo, Makoma Makhurupetje, expressed the Department’s regrets at the death of another initiate in the province.

The initiate died at George Masebe Hospital, bringing the count of initiates who have lost their lives since the start of the initiation season up to three.

The initiate, aged 22, was enrolled in a legal school belonging to Matlala Bakoni Traditional Council in the Waterberg District.

Departmental spokesperson Callies Matlala said that the cause of the initiate’s death is not yet known, as post-mortem results have not been released.

He emphasized that initiation schools were expected to conclude the weekend before schools reopened.

The MEC sent her condolences to the

family.

“We had hoped to have no deaths this season,” she said. “Unfortunately this has not been the case.

We are worried that the death toll has been higher than in previous seasons, but we will continue to engage all the stakeholders with the aim of finding a lasting solution to this problem.”

Meanwhile in Bela-Bela, The BEAT has received information that an initiate arrived at the local police station seriously injured. The initiate had apparently been whipped. The source said that the initiate appeared to be in his early twenties and appeared to be in extreme pain from the alleged whipping.

Lieutenant-Colonel Abel Phetla of the Bela-Bela Police said that there were no records of a case with such a description in their records.

He said that the partied involved might have decided not to open a case, even though the alleged victim ended up in hospital.

The Sikwane congregation from the Dutch Reformed Church of Botswana visited their counterparts in Bela-Bela for a Christian partnership.

Photo: Lizzy Bapela Lizzy Bapela Lizzy Bapela Limpopo premier Stan Mathabatha and the Sikwane congregation from the Dutch Reformed Church of Botswana (DRCB) visited the Uniting Reformed Church in SA (URCSA) Bela-Bela congregation.

The Bela-Bela congregation hosted the visitors from Friday, 17 to Monday, 20 July for a Christian partnership.

On Saturday the 18th, the visitors were taken on a tour to Bela-Bela Forever Resorts, and then attended the normal Sunday service together, with Reverend Pheto Mosima conducting the liturgy.

Minister and moderator of the DRC Botswana, who is also the Deputy President of the Botswana Council of Churches; Reverend Cooper Sekate preached from the book of Genesis 4: 116, the story of Cain and Abel, followed by the Holy Communion served by

Reverend Mosima.

Premier Mathabatha was the keynote speaker and the ministers prayed for him after his speech.

They include reverends Dintoa Mahlabe of the AME, Jeremiah Kgabo of Lutheran Church and Mosima of the URCSA; all from Bela-Bela, as well as Sekate of the DRC Botswana.

After the prayer, the Botswana visitors handed over presents to Premier Mathabatha, Reverend Mosima and URCSA council member and convenor of Events and managements commission Mpolokeng Mokoena. The hosting congregation also received a certificate of appreciation and a cup by the visiting congregation.

“It was the day that the Lord has made and we all rejoiced in Him. Our congregation will be visiting the Dutch Reformed Church of Botswana soon to strengthen the partnership,” said Reverend Mosima.

Local girl wins Modi Mall Idols Mashaba TKTK Mashaba 28-year old local singer Vernecia Koveer has won second place in the Idol Info competition recently held at Modi Mall.

The competition was organized by Modimolle Tourism, Modi Mall and Waterberg Radio, and took place on Saturday, 25 July.

Koveer started singing at an early age.

“I started singing when I was in primary school and I’ve sung in choirs and music concerts while I was in Tshwane,” she said. “Music has always been my comfort.

I have performed at the State Theatre and I am currently working on my album.”

Koveer said that she is working with local artists in Bela-Bela on her album.

The former secretary of the Young Communists League, now Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Buti Manamela, distributed reusable sanitary towels to school girls who are unable to afford them in his hometown of Modimolle.

The Deputy Minister visited Modimolle’s Solomon Mahlangu High School as part of the school’s reopening program on Monday, 20 July. He addressed the learners on the issues they may face in their daily lives.

Modimolle Mayor Kgaretja Lekalakala and councillors, officials and management from the local municipality accompanied the deputy minister during his visit. They assisted him in distributing the gifts to the girls, giving them advice on womanhood and the use of the towels.

In his address at the school’s assembly, Deputy Minister Manamela encouraged learners to persevere in their education and stay in school.

The minister’s spokesperson Matshepo Seedat said that the sanitary towels that were distributed are manufactured locally and are reusable for up to five years. She

added that this ensures that young girls from poor families are well-looked after in school for up to five years.

After interacting with the learners and the school’s management, the team proceeded to the local FH Odendaal Hospital for the monitoring visit. Here, the Deputy Minister received complaints about the services at the hospital.

“Patients here at the hospital say that they wait for too long to be assisted and with their ailing, they could catch more viruses in the process. We also learned that medication sometimes does not get delivered on time, meaning that patients with chronic illnesses such as the ones on ARVs and TB treatments suffer more and this impacts negatively on their treatment.

As the Department responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, it is our mandate to see to it that the challenges raised here today are attended to and we will be monitoring the process,” said Manamela.

He emphasized that they will be working together with the frontline service delivery office to ensure that a report is filed and the local Department of Health is engaged to play their part on what needs to be done.

The Waterberg’s Mandela Month celebration wrap up Lizzy Bapela Lizzy Bapela Members of the Edcon Group consisting of Jet and JetMart Stores across Limpopo together with their national head office recently embarked on a charity drive, donating goodies to needy institutions in different parts of the province.

In the Waterberg District, the team visited the home of handicapped children in Bela-Bela, Huis Talje and interacted with the staff and the children. They also donated groceries, toiletries and scuffs among other items and spend the day with the children, learning about their day-to-day life.

Bela-Bela JetMart store manager Veronica Mkhabela said that their aim was to take time off work and spend it with the children in honour of Nelson Mandela’s legacy. She added that they also raised the funds to buy them the donated items.

Meanwhile, Bela-Bela’s Hleketani Primary School held an event welcome visitors from Venezuela on Thursday, 30 July. The delegation aimed to celebrate Mandela Month by spending the day with the learners, as the late president Nelson Mandela oved children and they donated bangs with goodies to over 500 learners.

School principal Julia Mogashoa led her staff members in welcoming and

acknowledging the visitors’ presence and their interest in their school. She said that it always makes a huge impact in a child’s mind to receive a gift showing them that they are loved and appreciated. Mogashoa further said that making a difference in the little ones’ lives is always a blessing and teachers are encouraged to keep them motivated at all times.

Learners from different grades rendered entertainment items for the visitors including poetry, traditional dances and choir.

Also, MEC for the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture in Limpopo Nandi Ndalane conducted her charity work by spending time with more than 600 children from the crèches in Mogalakgwena Local Municipality. The Department joined the global call to action for people to recognise their ability to have positive effects on others around them and hosted the Junior Dipapadi; one of its flagship programmes. The event was held at Hlamalani Sport Ground in Tshamahansi Village on Tuesday, 28 July.

The programme provides children with an opportunity to realise their full potential in sport, furthermore provides physical active play for children. The activities of the day included sack race, egg race, bottle race, peg race, water bottle race, tug of war, river bank and balancing.

Lekkerbreek Primary collected 18 points from the eight games they played, managing to score a total of 10 goals.

Dagbreek Primary School ended the race in second place, with 16 points.

Maokeng Primary School, Modimolle Primary School and Hector Peterson Primary School all collected six points each during their battle for the top spot.

The girls’ team also outclassed the competition and claimed the top spot on the log, also securing 18 points.

Coach Lesibana Ditle, who is also an educator at the school, said that their success is a result of hard work and the support they received from the school’s management.

“Our players have enough time to practice since we have dedicated Wednesday to sports activities at our school. We also practice on other days after school hours, to ensure that our team is fully prepared to compete at any level,” he said.

Ditle said that he is working closely with Deon Bodiba in building up the boys’ soccer team. He mentioned that working with young people is hard work, but with a bit of patience and dedication they can always find a way to succeed.

The girls’ team coach Leon Makhubela also emphasized that working with youngsters requires patience.

Makhubela said that when he started coaching the girls’ team at the school, he was working with the Under-10 girls, who have since graduated to the Under-13 team.

“I started by grooming the Under-10 girls. I started them from scratch, teaching them the basics and everything about football. It was not an easy task, so it required patience,” he said.

He said that they managed to reach the district level in 2014, and expressed his hope that the team will reach the provincial level of the competition this time around.

Makhubela expressed his gratitude toward fellow educators Hezekiel Moatshe and Albert Tshisevhe for their contribution.

According to Ditle, the next round of the competition was scheduled for Friday, 14 August, at an as-yet-unannounced venue.

Elias Dikoko and Sello Molokomme, also known as Batista, the two members of Team Shape, brought home trophies during the Gauteng North Intermediate Show held in Tshwane on 25 July.

The Bela-Bela bodybuilders said that they have been doing well in competitions.

They say that they want to inspire other young people to be bodybuilders as well.

“We still need a lot of young people to join us so that we can represent Waterberg and Limpopo well in those games,” said Dikoko.

Dikoko won first place in the Under75kg in the senior category, while Molokomme came in on third place in

the senior Under-70 kg.

“Our biggest challenge is logistics,” said Molokomme. “We are mostly using our own money to travel to those events.”

Dikoko and Molokomme are planning to host a bodybuilding competition in 2016 near Bela-Bela.

“We are still looking for sponsors and donors to do this,” said Dikoko. “The earlier we start, the better.”

Team Shape will be going on to another provincial bodybuilding competition which will be held on Saturday, 8 August in Tshwane and they wish to have support from local supporters when they take part.

Maks Chisanyama Bela-Bela High School Under-15 represents and Pick n Pay hosts district in Coca-Cola Copa Cup netball tournament TK Mashaba TK Mashaba TK Mashaba Maks Chisanyama, run by Menzi Ngwenya, Ashely Mollie and Kershaia Mollie will be partnering with Pick n Pay to host a netball tournament at the Bela-Bela Community Hall on Sunday, 9 August.

According to Ngwenya, the tournament organizer, the tournament will have six local netball teams battling it out for prizes.

“The plan is to host an annual tournament,” Ngwenya said.

There will be prizes to be won as well as trophies for first, second, and third place.

The tournament is also aimed at celebrating women’s month, and there will be entertainment at the community hall. An after party will be held at the Chisanyama with several lady DJs as guests.

“We invite everyone to join us for the launch of the tournament,” he said.

Bela-Bela High School will be representing the Waterberg region in the Under-15 Coca-Cola Cup School Tournament after it triumphed in the tournament hosted in Bela-Bela recently.

The team said that they were eager to proceed to the next round after winning all three their games in order to face Maope High School, who they beat 2-1 in the final.

They beat A.B. Makapane 2-1, Ditheku 4-0, and Malebo 1-0 before going on to the finals.

Sam Modise, former Total Surrender and Diesel ‘n Dust player, was the coach for Bela-Bela High School team.

“I have blended a new combination on these boys and I am glad that they played well in all their games,” he said.

“It felt good,” he said. “We understood each other and they saw me more as a

friend than as a coach.”

Modise said that his boys will have a bright future if they play the way they have been playing when they go to the

provincial level of the tournament.

The date of the provincial level of the tournament is not finalized, but they will be playing in Tzaneen outside Polokwane.
