Taking Your Business to the New Google+ Business Pages Social media isn't about you; it's about everything around you. As you consider how your customers want to communicate with you, social media is something that can't be ignored. Users are always online researching for products, services, and brands. Facebook is currently one of the easiest and cheapest ways to directly reach your most dedicated customers or fans. Google wants to eventually compete with them, so they also have to offer business profiles for free. Introducing Google Business Pages Users will be very familiar with the service if they already have personal accounts: you can place users into circles, share content with specific groups and launch video chats. The following are some of the differences between Google+ personal profiles and Google+ pages: - A page can’t add someone to a circle until that user adds the page to one of their circles. - The content on a page defaults to public. - Pages can’t share with extended cirlces. - Pages have both a +1 Button and an “Add to Circles” button. This can be a tad bit confusing as the -Add to Circles” button is the only one that will allow pages to send users updates. As Google put it: “Google+ pages give life to everything we find in the real world. And by adding them to circles, we can create lasting bonds with the pages (and people) that matter most”. Google’s Direct Connect feature will turn every query into meaningful relationships for customers and merchants. Users just need to add a plus sign before the brand name to find relevant activity relating to the company. This feature currently works on a limited number of company profiles such as +Google , +Pepsi ,and +Toyota , although Google is working on expanding the functionality to cover more organizations and users. For businesses, having a Google+ Page is one way to reach out and be present in the social network. Users can add brands such as Fox News, the New York Knicks and Angry Birds to their circles, check out their information and browse their photos. When users add a brand to their circles, it increases that brand’s follower count. Brands and businesses drive user growth, engagement, and repeat visits. Businesses will see Google+ likely as another great way to market themselves and get word out about whatever they offer. Brand owners have similar issues with vanity URLs on other social channels. In a perfect social media world, your brand should use the same name on all channels and each channel links to each other. Google+ Business Pages can also help you deliver your great content to users in a way that’s easy to share with their friends.
