Dear Fans, On behalf of everyone involved in our baseball program, I would like to thank you for supporting us. The team you see on the field has made great sacrifices to wear the Rattler uniform. We are honored to fight for the pride of our school, our families and the city of San Marcos. The Rattler baseball program is based on solid principles. It is my goal to teach the lessons on the baseball field that will help our players be successful in life. Passion, commitment, and loyalty are our cornerstones. On the field, please expect greatness from us. It is our goal to win the state championship. Our coaches and players work hard and support one another. The bond we have built will be a factor throughout the season. I encourage you to get excited and support these young men. Go Rattlers!

Ronnie Robledo
Coach Ronnie Robledo is in his eighth year at San Marcos High School, and his fifth year as Coach Webb’s right hand man. Prior to San Marcos, Coach Robledo coached football and baseball at Weslaco High School, and later at Weslaco-East High School. He has 21 years of coaching experience under his belt. Coach Robledo hopes to help mold boys into young men. ”His family includes his wife Olga, sons Chuck (26), Gabriel (19), Alex (17), Andy (17) and daughter-in-law Christina (24). He also has to grandsons: Jeremiah (3) and Elijah (2).

A veteran coach of more than 18 years, Soto is starting his fourth spring as the SMHS Athletic Director and is proud of the growth of SMCISD’s athletic teams and facilities, which includes new artificial turf on the baseball and softball fields. “Our superintendent, administration and community worked hard to pass a bond that will change San Marcos athletics,” Soto said. “We are happy to see baseball and softball benefiting this spring.”

A native of Fort Worth, Coach Longan has three years of coaching experience and teaches History. He is a 2008 graduate from Texas State with a B.A. in History.
Assistant Coach Cortez is in his second year as a member of the SMHS coaching staff and says he’s excited “to return to the baseball diamond with such a fantastic group of young men. It is a joy to be a part of their development and witness the great things going on in our program.” Cortez, who also teaches U.S. History, has been coaching for seven years. He and his wife Marcie are the proud parents of their baby daughter, Mia.

Michael Rocha Coach Rocha is in his first year of coaching. He played four years for Hays and was an All State Pitcher. Coach Rocha received a scholarship to the University of Oklahoma and played there for four years before being drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies for a short stint before going after his love of coaching and joining the San Marcos Rattler coaching staff.

Jaime “Doc” Perez is in his 28th year as an Athletic Trainer and in his 14th year as the Head Athletic Trainer at SMHS. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Texas State Athletic Trainers Assoc. and the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association. Perez received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He and his wife Yvonne have two sons, Jaime II, a junior at SMHS, and Enrique, an eighthgrader at Goodnight Middle School.

Coach Gonzales played shortstop for for years on the varsity for this program and for coach Webb. He graduated in 2012 and is currently finishing up his degree in Kinesiology. He hopes to one day be as much of a success to the program as coach Webb has been to this Rattler Program.
David Ryan Sambrano is entering his second season coaching at SMHS as he continues to seek certification in Physical Education and 8-12 History. He is the son of David Sambrano and Angela Sambrano, and has two brothers: Zachariah Sambrano (a freshman at Texas State University) and Matthew Sambrano, who is a member of the SMHS JV team. He was a four-year letterman for the Rattler baseball team (20062010) and plans to graduate this December with a Bachelors of Science.

Ushering in a new era SMHS seniors help break ground on the school’s new athletic facilities which includes new artificial turf on the team’s baseball field for the 2014 season.
Rattlers give back to the community The Rattler baseball team spent time volunteering last fall at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Math Night at Crockett Elementary and at Bowie Elementary’s Dinner with Santa.
