Since 1985, The Caring Place has been a beacon of hope for Georgetown and Northern Williamson County. What started as a small community effort has grown into a vital support system for thousands of individuals and families facing hardship. With compassion, respect, and dignity, The Caring Place ensures that no one in the community has to navigate crisis alone.
The Caring Place served 11,391 unique neighbors in 2024 with multiple services (both financial and nonfinancial support are offered in numerous cases)—a recordbreaking number that underscores the increasing need for assistance. The Caring Place is more than just a
charity; it’s a lifeline providing essential support to stabilize lives and restore hope.
At the heart of its mission is a robust food assistance program. For many families, putting food on the table is a daily struggle, especially when unexpected expenses arise. The Caring Place operates a free-choice food pantry in Georgetown, where individuals can select groceries that suit their dietary needs. During 2024, each household received an average of $207 per month in cost savings with groceries, providing much-needed relief. In addition, the Fresh Food for Families program distributes fresh produce monthly, ensuring access to nutritious food. For seniors, the HOPE Program provides supplemental food to eligible adults aged 60 and older, addressing the unique challenges of this vulnerable population.
Beyond food assistance, The Caring Place provides access to clothing and household essentials
through a voucher system. Donated items not only help fund operations but also directly support families in need. A recent initiative, “Loads of Caring,” addresses an often-overlooked necessity: clean laundry. Twice a month, individuals can visit Washatopia in Georgetown and do their laundry for free—no questions asked. For many, having clean clothes restores dignity and confidence, which is especially important during difficult times.
In addition to immediate aid, The Caring Place offers case-by-case crisis assistance and case management to help families navigate financial hardships. A sudden job loss, medical emergency, or unexpected expense can quickly spiral into long-term instability. The organization provides direct assistance with rent, utilities, and transportation to prevent crises from escalating. Through case management, individuals receive personalized support to develop long-term stability plans, empowering them to overcome financial hardships.
None of this would be possible without the generosity of the community. Right now, the biggest campaign of the year, Amplify at The Caring Place, is underway. Until March 6th at 6 p.m., donations made to The Caring Place will be matched, effectively doubling their impact. Serves 1
11⁄2 ounces your favorite Godiva® liqueur, such as Godiva® Milk Chocolate
3⁄4 ounce vodka, like Ciroc®
