family of four. Q. How do you handle meals in your home? Prep? Delegate? A. I am the weekly meal planner, but Matt executes the dinner while I do homework with the boys. Q. Life balance practices? What keeps your stress at bay? A. Take time for yourself. At 8:30 when the kids are in bed I stop everything - no dishes, no laundry, no cleaning, no work - and read or watch MY shows. Also, once a year I take a girls only trip. Q. Beauty tips? A. Less is more. I like clothes and shoes. Do what works for you, be comfortable in your own skin. Q. AFavorite movie? A. All movies, all shows, all genres, everything. Q. Summer cool off spots are you looking forward to? A. My own backyard pool and the backyards of my other mom friends. We also like to ride bikes down the road or in the elementary parking lot. Spending time with our friends is the best. Q. Last book you read or are currently reading? A. I read everything my kids are reading, I read a lot of YA to know what the youth are into these days, I always have multiple books going on my kindle and hard copy. Currently it’s Redemption Road by John Hart, previously The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer. Q. Personal time, what do you do for yourself ? A. Exercise 2 times a week, I know that not a lot, but it’s the best I can do. I like cardio and weight lifting. I do one crafting weekend a year. Q. What keeps the spark in your marriage? A. Matt travels a lot for work. We always play an app or game app like Words With Friends against each other while he is gone. There is always a bet riding on the winner when he gets home- cook and clean up, chores, etc. It keeps us connected. Q. Defining moment in motherhood? A. It changes everything, your priorities. It’s really all the little moments, not just one. Q. Advice to new/ young moms? A. It really does go so, so, so fast - when it’s hard I try to remember it’s only temporary. Also, build your tribe.. National Dance Day in Southeast Texas! 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Edison Plaza Beaumont

The 5th annual National Dance Day event in Southeast Texas will be held at Edison Plaza, 350 Pine St. in Beaumont. We have moved indoors to beet the hot July heat.

Lauren Froderman, season 7 winner of So You Think You Can Dance will be here for the third year. As the event grows, we will be adding at least another hour this year. The event will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 28.

We have still been the only event on the Dizzy Feet Foundation’s calendar within a four hour drive in any direction. This celebration of dance is a mixture of dance performances by area troupes, line dances, dance demonstrations and a quick tutorial and performance of the official National Dance Day choreography led by Froderman.
