PROGRAM & EVENT POLICIES
CANCELLATIONS
Help us have successful programs by registering early! All programs must have a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted. If a program does not meet this minimum, the class may be canceled. Cancellations by customers made five business days prior to the start of a program will receive a refund. No cancellation refunds will be given after the start of a program or event. Registration fees will not be prorated for partial attendance.
PHOTO RELEASE
The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department routinely takes photos and videos of participants in recreation activities, programs and special events and/ or at recreation facilities. These photos and/or videos may be used for promotional purposes. Be aware that by participating, you are granting the City of New Braunfels the right to use and publish your image or your minor child’s image.
WAIT LISTS
If registering for a class that is full, your name can be placed on a waiting list. This does not guarantee a spot, but individuals will be contacted if an opening becomes available.

Das Rec classes and programs listed as "free" are free for members. Non-members must purchase a day pass to participate in a free class.
PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board makes recommendations to the City Council concerning policy matters related to the establishment, maintenance and operation of the City’s parks and recreation programs. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm at City Hall - Council Chambers, located at 550 Landa Street.
PARKS FOUNDATION
Established in 2005, the New Braunfels Parks Foundation exists to promote, protect and enhance the parks system of the City of New Braunfels through education, resource development and community partnerships. Some of the exciting projects the NBPF has funded include construction of JAWS Skate Park and Puppy Playland, and the Landa Park Mini Golf renovation. Camp Minnehaha is a general summer camp program with a wide variety of daily activities. Campers need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle, swimsuit, sunscreen, and a towel to camp. To ensure a great experience for all the campers, each session has a limited number of registered campers.
FISCHER PARK NATURE CAMP*
Fischer Park Nature Camp is a nature-based summer camp program with weekly themed activities. Campers need to bring a sack lunch, morning snack, water bottle, swimsuit, sunscreen, a towel, and change of clothes each day. Each session has a limited number of registered campers.

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR
CAMP:
Full refunds will only be given if notice is received seven (7) or more days prior to the start of the registered week of camp. No refund can be given once camp has begun. Registration costs cannot be prorated for partial attendance.
DEPOSIT
POLICY FOR CAMP:
A deposit may be made at the time of enrollment, instead of full payment, to secure a spot in individual weeks of Camp Minnehaha or Fischer Park Nature Camp by paying $25 per child, per week of camp that they would like to register for. This deposit payment will reserve a camper’s spot in the program until full payment is due.
The remaining balance for camp tuition is due 14 days before the first day of camp for each registered week. Failure to submit the remaining payment, 14 days before registered start date, may result in the forfeiture of that week’s deposit and the loss of the reserved spot at camp.

New Braunfels Parks and Recreation has a new kayak kiosk from Rent Fun with 4 kayaks available to rent anytime during daylight hours. Download the Rent Fun app, Scan the QR code on the kiosk to unlock your equipment, and enjoy your time paddling around. When you are done, return your equipment to the kiosk. All payments are handled with Rent Fun through the app. Lifejackets are provided.
TEAM BUILDING EVENTS
NAVIGATION
Working in small groups teams will be taught how to use and read a compass. Using given coordinates, each team will be sent to a different starting location in the park to find clues that will lead them to their next location. Teams will gain pieces of a major clue that in the end they will combine with the other teams to find their final meeting location where Fischer staff will be waiting to determine the winning team.
There will be 3 difficulty level options for the group: easy, medium, and hard so that even the most experienced navigators have a chance to join in on the fun.

SHELTER BUILDING
Teams will meet at the flagpole to take a short walk to the forest to build a shelter. The team will be given two items: a tarp and a length of rope. From there they will need to collect sticks, leaves, and other materials to build their shelter. At the end as many team members as possible will fit in the shelter and have a bucket of water poured on top to see if they stay dry.

ARCHERY
Teams will learn the basics of archery and have the opportunity to shoot multiple times with different added targets. We can accommodate up to 10 archers at a time and can rotate between groups if needed.

KAYAKING
Teams will be taught the basics of kayaking and then they will head out onto the pond where they are free to explore our large pond with a Fischer Park staff member both on the water and one on the dock during the entire program. This program can accommodate 8 single person kayaks.

PANTHER CANYON NIGHT HIKE
Lace up your hiking boots and join the Parks and Recreation staff on a guided nature tour after dark. Panther Canyon is an unpaved, rugged, and rocky trail that may be difficult for some hikers. Pre-Registration Required.
