Texas Cook’Em is a spectacular and vibrant annual festival presented by the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce. Held at the Ebony Hills Golf Club during Independence Day weekend, this event promises an evening of enchantment and excitement. The Edinburg Chamber and the City of Edinburg invite you to kick off the holiday season with the highly anticipated annual Night of Lights Parade. This festive event, held each year on the first Friday of December in the Downtown Edinburg District, promises an evening of enchantment and community spirit. Join us for a spectacular celebration featuring dazzling parade floats, captivating entertainment, and an atmosphere filled with holiday cheer. Parade themes and float applications open in October, offering an opportunity for those interested in participating to register at edinburg.com. The Leadership Edinburg program, established in 1988, offers participants an invaluable opportunity for personal growth and the building of lasting relationships with community members dedicated to our collective success. This eightmonth-long program, managed by the Leadership Edinburg Steering Committee, meets once a month to introduce aspiring leaders to various prominent topics in Edinburg, TX.
The program begins each fall with a retreat, providing class members a chance to get acquainted. Each session features insights from industry experts on community issues such as criminal justice, education, economic development, and healthcare, and their impact on Edinburg residents. Participants will interact with a wide range of community leaders and benefit from sharing their unique perspectives through
discussion.A key component of the program is the community project. Each class identifies a pressing need within the Edinburg Chamber or the community and designs and implements a project to address it. These projects provide hands-on experience and help strengthen participants’ community networks. Past projects have included a welcome sign at South Texas International Airport at Edinburg, the first wheelchair-accessible playground, and various public art and beautification initiatives.
By actively engaging in these projects, class members leave a lasting legacy in the Edinburg community while honing their leadership skills and expanding their network.

Women’s Basketball: Welcomed 6,591 fans when they faced the Texas Longhorns at Bert Ogden Arena, the largest crowd ever to watch a women’s basketball game in the Valley.
And that’s just the beginning.
UTRGV is in the process of bringing Division I college football to the Valley, with the new Vaqueros team using 2024-25 as a practice year before hosting its inaugural game on Aug. 30, 2025, at the Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium in Edinburg. The goal is to make every home game a sellout, so to be part of Valley history, you can get your tickets at GoUTRGV.com/Football. As football prepares to take the field in 2025, the UTRGV women’s swimming & diving program is ready to make a splash in its debut 2024-25 season.
UTRGV also is paving the way for future success with capital investments. The historic UTRGV Fieldhouse is receiving a major enhancement with construction of the new atrium, now underway, which will include a new box office, team store, and Hall of Fame area to honor UTRGV Athletics history, past and future. The atrium project is a part of a $160 million investment into facility upgrades that will have an impact on all 18 programs.
In 2023-24, UTRGV Athletics opened the brandnew Vaqueros Golf Center, completed new buildings at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex, and undertook significant upgrades to UTRGV Baseball Stadium. By 2026, every program will benefit from a new or upgraded facility.
