GOD OF ALL POSSIBILITIES Glory be to God. Another Dunamis is here. We thank God for all the past Dunamis celebrations, as well as His faithfulness and mercy that endureth for ever. Dunamis 2013, More Than Conquerors, came and left us with testimonies of over-comings, personal breakthroughs and victories. Dunamis 2014, Divine Enlargement, ushered in unprecedented spiritual uplifting, promotions and diverse business breakthroughs. Dunamis 2015, Our Emmanuel, took care of past battles, struggles and failures. God of ALL Possibilities, our 2016 Dunamis theme, is here this year to make all seemingly impossible situations of our lives — possible. Amen! This year the God of Dunamis will roll away every stone of oppression hindering you from moving forward! Amen! God of All Possibilities will cause water to flow again into your desert, green and rich vegetation to spring up like a forest in your wilderness, and all forms of fruitlessness shall become fruitful! Amen!

I will however admonish that you come to this year’s Dunamis by faith. Not just faith — but with a GIANT faith like the woman with the issue of blood. God said in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him:” I admonish you to come without wavering. James-1:7 “6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” As in the past, Dunamis is a time of intense prayer, exuberant praise and worship, divine visitation, healing and deliverance. All of these are waiting and within your reach as it applies to you. Come and experience a divine encounter with the God of ALL possibilities who has the POWER to give you a new beginning. Don’t miss this time of your divine opportunity. DUNAMIS! POWER! Pastor Chris Adetoro Senior Pastor

THOUGH IT TARRIES, WAIT FOR IT HABAKKUK 2:3

It is not a fallacy or an unproven truth that hope deferred makes the heart sick according to Proverbs 13:12, but the beauty of our God is that He will never leave us or forsake us. He promises to answer us when we call on HIM. Even though the solution has not come as expected, wait patiently for it because it shall surely come. Hold on to what the word of God says in Habakkuk 2:3, “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay. Logically, we might be asking ourselves a legitimate question as to when the appointed time is. It is also reasonable, as humans with all our knowledge, to say it is getting late or becoming too late. One thing that I know for sure is that when He (GOD) shows up in any situation, the rest becomes history. The recipients become testifiers and witnesses. They have new songs to sing and have more than enough arsenals in their tool box to shame the devil and the enemies. The story

of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1, is nothing but the display of Dunamis. The encounter in Nain between Jesus and death brought about life and joy to the widow of Nain and her family (Luke 7:11-17). The same goes for the lame man at the beautiful gate in Acts 3, and after all is said and done, after an encounter with the HEALER, after a divine visitation, the Bible says he leaped for joy. Dunamis is here again. Be expectant and let your hopes soar to the highest! God gave us the assurance that the expectations of the righteous shall not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18). Even though you have not seen it, it shall surely come. The power that raised the dead, that healed the sick and all manner of diseases, that calmed the wind behind the storm, will visit you and change your story. Be ready and prepared to sing a new song. God bless you. Layo Ayeni, Assistant Pastor RCCG Bread of Life 5

An executive was on his way to see the CEO. All kinds of thoughts were going through his mind. What went wrong? Why did this project fail? What did he miss? He was entrusted with a multi-million dollar project. Everyone knew it was a risk… everything knew that hasn’t been tried before usually is. But it was a bold move, which, if worked, could really pay off. What now? Standing in front of his boss, he extended his hand with the letter of resignation. The CEO looked surprised, then slightly irritated. “You cannot be serious,” he said. “I just paid 2 million dollars for all of us to learn a valuable lesson. Now let’s go apply that knowledge and get us on the right path!”

WHAT IS The fear of failure has been a scourge that has plagued man since the dawn of time. It is a stumbling block that has not allowed many of us to reach our God ordained potentials in life. We see it as more public than success or at least we perceive it to be. We dread it, abhor it and many will give away their dreams, hopes, aspirations, even their destinies in order not to encounter it. But the simple truth is — no great success was ever achieved without staring failure in the face. Whether we like it or not, failure in most instances is a necessary stepping stone to achieving our dreams. The word of God in Proverbs 24:16 states “Though a righteous man falls seven times, he will get up, but the wicked will stumble into ruin.” Psalms 37:24 declares, “When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.” As a child of God, called out of darkness into his light to show forth his glory, you should know that every failure you encounter will be used by God to lead you to your place in destiny, as scripture declares, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (emphasis added). Pursue that dream of yours; start that business, get into that academic pro-

TO YOU gram, apply for that promotion and when the fear of failure comes, use it as a stepping stone to be diligent in all your endeavors and totally trust in the One who has declared that you are the head and never the tail. Thomas Edison, the legendary inventor who before his meteoric rise to stardom, had his own battle with failure — once said that “many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” There is a great destiny, a remarkable legacy with your name on it just around the corner, all you need to do is take one step of faith after another and when failure comes your way, use it as a stepping stone to be better, stronger and more determined than before and when you have done this, look failure straight in the eye and tell it to go to hell!! Happy Dunamis everyone. Remain Blessed. Dcn. Dele Onadeko 9

MARRIAGE Faith and Culture 7KH FRQFHSW RI PDUULDJH ZDV QRW IRUPXODWHG E\ WKH KHDUW RI PHQ EXW E\ *RG *RG KLPVHOI LV WKH PDVWHU PDNHU DQG WKH PDVWHU SODQQHU Oftentimes, human beings come into the marriage union with preconceived expectations based on what has been modelled around them while growing up. Some people embrace certain ideologies because of experiences or observations. However, without the author of marriage orchestrating and upholding the union, our human abilities often have its limit. Marriage is the holy matrimony between a consenting male and female. Faith simply means ‘confidence in’, sureness, assurance, trust. Culture is the embraced principles and values adopted and practiced by a group of people. The scripture refers to culture as the tradition of elders. Their ways of life, their attitudes shaped by their thinking at a particular time and then passed down orally through generations as acceptable behavior. These values were determined, taught and embraced by a group of people through the persuasion of leaders and the aged. Cultures do change through the ages as standards and human understanding increases, but the Word of the Lord never changes. God who sees the end from the beginning has set the rules and boundaries in the family. It is an understatement that time will test every marriage; it is our faith that helps us endure the test of time. Culture changes often with human reasoning and subjective feelings. God says my ways are not your ways, and my thoughts are not your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). God in the flesh, Jesus the Messiah, in Matthew chapter 19:3-12 addressed with the Pharisees the issue of mar-

riage and the struggles that may result in breaking away from the union. He talked about two definite genders, each in singular form, to make up one union or unit. He talked about total commitment and complete bounding. He warned about God’s objection regarding asunder (tearing apart). They responded that Moses accorded them the benefit of asunder, but God who knows the intent of every heart pointed out the root cause that tears relationships apart, which is the hardness of hearts. Jesus pointed out the inconsistencies and flaws of traditional practices with the so called leaders of the Pharisees in Mathew 19. Moreover, Jesus gave several examples of how embraced culturalisms can differ from God’s directives and intentions. Can one combine faith totally with culture in a marriage? What if the childhood culture contradicts culture in the diaspora? Are we making the word of God of no effect through our tradition/culture which we hail as ‘law’ and many such like things we do? Mark 7:13. The prescribed culture for the followers of Christ is to observe the principles taught by Christ and to constantly ask for grace and a heart of flesh in our relationships. Practical faith demands that we serve, and adhere to God’s commandments and precepts. To serve God fully, we must align ourselves with God’s purpose for marriage as demonstrated by Jesus Christ’s relationship with the church. Are the saints perfect? No! But saints are being perfected through His enduring love. By Dcns. Adenike Adewuyi 13

These scriptures require us to be invested in the spiritual education of our children; but in a fast paced world like ours, it is impossible without the aid of technology to fulfill this obligation. The only practical way to fulfill these scriptures is to avail ourselves of the technology. It is arguable that God’s instruction to the children of Israel in Deut. 6:7 was foreshadowing the invention of the internet—the only way children can constantly hear the gospel is to play it around the house, and have it on their cell phone. The Bible also says that when Jesus comes in the clouds, all eyes will see him. I believe that technology makes this possible—all eyes will see him on major networks such as CNN, Fox news, etc. Thanks to technology, we can put our songs on the screen and worship without distractions. Google is your friend! Information is now at our fingertips. Technology has come to stay, but like everything else, it is subject to abuse. Children are very excited about the uses of technology but they also need to be sensitized, instructed, and monitored in order to avoid its dangers. Parental monitoring is key. In these days of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the others, parents need to know what their children and youths are doing online. Parental discretion should be used in deciding whether a computer should be in their child’s bedroom. It may be better to keep the computer in a place where it is visible to everyone. Parents will do well to monitor cell phone usage and ensure that youngsters are not spending too much time on their cell phones or sending inappropriate messages.

Morning Motivation When I woke up this morning lying in bed, I asked myself — What are some of the secrets of success in life? I found the answers right there, in my very room.

The fan said … The roof said … The window said … The clock said … The mirror said … The calendar said … The door said …

Be cool Aim high See the world Every minute is precious Reflect before you speak or act Number your days Behold, He stands at the door and knocks

Eternal Security is Indeed —

Eternal Eternal security, aka once saved—always saved (OSAS) is an absorbing topic due to the controversy surrounding it among us believers. Many believers hold the view that one can lose his salvation while others hold the opposite view — that salvation once attained is eternal.1 I espouse the latter view. And while I concur that some scriptures appear to contradict one another on the matter of eternal security, this cannot be so, as the Holy Scriptures are the inerrant word of God2 and thus, there can be no contradiction. Hence, I will explain why the view I hold makes the most sense to me and why my own salvation is ever secure based on the many biblical texts teaching that true believers can never be lost. All the promises of God are yes and amen in Christ3, and there are many amazing promises concerning the believer’s eternal security. Jesus Christ tells us in John 6 that he came to do the will of the Father that sent him, and that the Father’s will is that he, Jesus, should not lose even one of all those who the Father gave him, (i.e., God chose us to believe on his Son, then gave us to his Son4) but that he should raise them up (from death) at the last day. Jesus further says that his Father’s will is that all who sees the Son and believes in him (taking him as personal Savior) should have eternal life. Jesus promises to raise all believers up at the last day.5 True believers are assured of eternal security again in John 106 where Christ says that his sheep listen to his voice, that he knows them and they follow him. Likewise, Jesus categorically states that he gives us eternal7 life and that we will never8 lose it or perish!9 Wow. Then there’s the Apostle Paul who tells us in Ephesians 4 that God has placed his seal on us, guaranteeing that true believers will be saved on the day of redemption.10 How can we know whether we are true believers? The bible tells us in Romans 10:9 that if we confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. It’s a matter of the heart, and God looks at the heart of man.11 Although it is only God and the believer who truly knows whether he is saved, the true believer will bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit12 as outward signs of his salvation and will no longer live in sin.13 He will be convicted or feel remorseful when he transgresses against God, seeking His forgiveness.

Additionally, continuing to follow Christ is the true test of a person’s salvation for scriptures say that he who endures to the very end shall be saved,14 the endurance being the proof of one’s salvation, and not a condition thereof. In other words, one who is truly saved will endure to the end by way of that same power that raised Christ from death to life. Those who are truly saved will grow to more consistently than not obey God’s word as further proof of Jesus living within.15 Some still argue that since we have free will, one can walk away from his salvation, in essence, breaking the seal that God has placed upon him. No be so o! Lailai. As true believers, we are changed from death to life,16 and our transformation, the sanctification17 process (and it is a life-long process) begins at the inception and very moment of salvation.18 We are no longer slaves to sin (once we become knowledgeable of and avail ourselves to the power afforded us by the cross) as we have been set free from sin’s bondage,19 and he that is set free, is free indeed.20 Armed with the knowledge of whose we are, like the Apostle Paul, we gradually become slaves to God.21 1

Yet surely, even the true believer will sin again,22 and absent an intentional, focused walk on the path set before him leading to a yielded, surrendered life controlled by the Holy Spirit within, he will find himself living as a defeated Christian, never however, losing his salvation.23 As well, we too have our own role to play in our sanctification, working out our own salvation with (reverential, respectful) fear (of God) and trembling,24 as we are co-laborers with God in this joint-venture, as it were.25 Through his divine providence, He, as the Potter, is molding and shaping us every day, with every trial, tribulation and event and circumstance and situation we face to fashion us to the image of his Son and our Savior. We as the clay, must submit to the Potter’s hand upon us, yielding, giving and acquiescing, accommodating and succumbing, making every effort to respond to God’s promises.26 With all of this in place and going on, what was once our ‘free (agent) will’ has now become a will merged with and eclipsed by Christ’s own. In other words, his will becomes our will, and his will is that we are one with him.27 How then are we able to walk away from the gift of salvation? The true believer is transformed! If we are truly in Christ, we are NEW creatures! The old things are passed away! BEHOLD! All things are become new.28 So, the supposition that a believer, a true believer can lose his salvation, should be at least suspect and at most ludicrous to us. The key foundation of my belief in the security of our salvation is found in John 17, Jesus’ prayer for his disciples (which includes every disciple since the time of the prayer as will be pointed out later). Here we find our Savior praying for the eleven remaining disciples right before he is taken away to be crucified, after he had revealed things they could expect once he was gone. This remarkable prayer is rich with all the evidence one needs to hold fast in his heart of hearts that his salvation is secure. In talking to our Father, Jesus says that the ones God gave to him always belonged to God; that he Jesus had passed on to the disciples the message given to him by God and that they accepted it, knowing that he came from God. He says further that his prayer is not for the world, but for those given to him by the Father (including us, folks — Jesus is praying for us!). In verses 11 and 12, Jesus prays to the Father for the disciples’ protection so that they are united just as he and the Father are united; he says that he guarded them so that not one of the disciples was lost aside from Judas who was nevertheless headed for destruction as foretold by the Scriptures. It is in verse 20, one of my favorites, wherein Jesus says he is praying not only for those disciples of that time, but for every disciple who will ever believe in him through the message of the disciples with him then. Ultimately, verse 24 is where we find Jesus making his request known to our Father that he wants those who our Father has given to him to be with him where he 20

is. For me, this is the greatest and decisive assurance, the coup de grâce29 of the eternal security controversy. Now, 1 John 5:14-15 tells us: 14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. NLT (emphasis mine) In light of the foregoing passage and presuming that Jesus’ prayer was one that pleased our Father, we can reason then that his prayer was heard by our Father, and therefore his request that every disciple who has ever believed in him be with him, has been granted! How then can a true believer lose his salvation since and when our Father has not only heard, but has granted the prayer of his Son, our Savior, that we be with him where he is? It can never be so! We must, we will be there with salvation fully in tact! But wait — What about the scripture passages that seem to suggest salvation can be forfeited, and thereby lost? These fit roughly into two main categories – 1) those who either walk or fall away from their salvation or 2) those who forfeit their salvation by reason of continuing in sin, i.e., their continued bad behavior.30 22

1 John 1:8-9; Galatians 5:17 NLT. The true Christian is a saint in embryo. The heavenly genes are in him and the Holy Spirit is working to bring him on into a spiritual development that accords with the nature of the heavenly Father from whom he received the deposit of divine life. Yet he is here in this mortal body subject to weakness and temptation, and his warfare with the flesh sometimes leads him to do extreme things. That Incredible Christian by A.W. Tozer, 1964. Defeated Christian – a believer who has not availed himself to the divine life as promised by Christ. See Luke 15:11-32, the parable of the prodigal son. If that boy had died in that pig sty before coming to his senses and returning home he would not have lost his sonship (salvation), as he would always be his father’s son. Once we belong to God we are His forever. Whenever a born again believer in Christ goes through a period of rebellion he/she is only depriving themselves of God’s fellowship. Instead of living with God they are living with the pigs, subjected to the many potential consequences thereof. Philippians 2:12. AMPC. The Greek verb rendered “work out” means to continually work to bring something to completion or fruition.” We do this by actively pursuing obedience in the process of sanctification, which Paul explains further in the next chapter of Philippians. He describes himself as “straining” and “pressing on” toward the goal of Christlikeness (Philippians 3:13-14). The “trembling” he experiences is the attitude Christians are to have in pursuing this goal—a healthy fear of offending God through disobedience and an awe and respect for His majesty and holiness. S. Michael Houdmann, GotQuestions.org. 1 Corinthians 3:9. AMPC. 2 Peter 1:5-7. John 7:11. 2 Corinthians 5:17. Coup de grace — 1. a death blow…; 2. any finishing or decisive stroke. Including but not limited to John 15:6; Galatians 6:8-9; Hebrews 10:26; and 2 Peter 2:20-21.

As to the first category of seemingly salvation losers, I surmise that they were never true believers, for if they walk or fall away, they were never saved to begin with per scripture.31 See Judas – an unbeliever who gave all the appearances of being a true follower of our Lord. He was most assuredly enlightened32 having been with our Lord, being exposed to God’s word and tasting33 of its goodness as well as the goodness of God, a ‘partaker of the Holy Spirit’.34 I believe that Judas like all those in the first category, encountered all of these and other blessings by way of a corporate experience, a recipient of common grace35 as it were, wherein he was offered and afforded the opportunity to embrace all he had seen and experienced with true faith. Yet and despite having received warnings and pleas from our Lord to come to repentance, Judas rejected every opportunity, never placing his personal faith in and accepting Jesus as the Savior of the world, the sole requirement for salvation. We see that clearly in John 13. While Judas may have given intellectual assent to the Truth, he never embraced Christ with heartfelt faith. He was with them, but not of them. He was a mere tag-along … a phony … an imposter … a hypocrite. Everyone was fooled into thinking Judas was a true believer (and some still are), except Jesus. There will always be flawless imposters and hypocrites in the household of faith, among the brethren.36 As to that second category of supposed salvation losers, those who forfeit their salvation by reason of their continued bad behavior, i.e., those who practice unrighteousness, fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, liars, etc., those who are never transformed, they along with the first category were never saved to begin with and are unbelievers masquerading (perhaps unintentionally, unknowingly) as believers; deceiving themselves that they are of the household of faith. The scriptures caution us to examine ourselves to determine whether we are truly of the household of faith.37 Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world!38 When the Holy Spirit takes up residence within us, scripture says we are changed.39 Therefore, the true believer is unable to continue living in darkness, and is ill at ease whenever he does stumble into sin. He cannot remain there, and by the omnipotent power living within him, has the ability to rise again, for our Father who has called us to this life of faith has already provided all we true believers need to live this life of faith.40 So dear saints, for those believers who still espouse the view that one can lose his salvation, I wish you Godspeed in your sojourn. As for me, I will never, nor can I ever lose my precious gift of salvation – Jesus Christ Himself, has prayed that I, and all true believers, be with him where He is. And since He is the God of ALL possibilities, I know that his hand is not too short, nor is it too weak so save those he has chosen. Therefore, I leave you with the words of this song— Standing on the promises I cannot fall (or walk away), Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call Resting in my Savior as my all in all, (I am) Standing on the promises of God! Humbly submitted, Leora S. Olorunnisomo

For many, the battle with skin disease can be a real hurdle that must be overcome to achieve this goal. That’s why dermatologists prescribe skin lightening medications to treat various common cutaneous diseases that lead to unevenness or discoloration. “One of the most frequent reasons patients are prescribed skin bleaching medicines is to treat post inflammatory pigmentations that can happen to anyone, Dr. Kassim explained. Post inflammatory pigmentation — dark spots that appear because of injury to the skin or inflammation like acne — can be faded by applying the medicine to affected areas. Melasma, the appearance of discolored patches on the face, typically triggered by hormonal changes during pregnancy and by sun exposure, also responds well to skin bleaching. In many other cases, skin lightening may even help to reduce the visibility of age spots, moles, birthmarks and scars.

7KHUH LV DFWXDOO\ QR EOHDFK LQYROYHG LQ VNLQ OLJKWHQLQJ Skin bleaching medicines work by reducing a pigment called melanin. By applying the medication to hyper-pigmented areas — parts of the body or face that are visibly darker than others — melanin production is disrupted allowing the skin to lighten and become more uniform. Sometimes, skin lightening products can include exfoliants that induce mild peeling. Since skin tends to regenerate quickly and easily, the peeling helps to clear away dead cells and resurface fresher and lighter layers beneath.

%XW VNLQ OLJKWHQLQJ FDQ KDYH KDUPIXO VLGH HIIHFWV For the treatment of common skin diseases, dermatologists typically recommend the short term use of Hydroquinone — an over the counter or prescription cream with a max dose of 2% that is FDA approved, but still happens to be a bit controversial. Usually, serious allergic reaction to the Hydroquinone is rare, though users may sometimes experience mild redness, dryness or itching of the affected area. However, according to Dr. Kassim, “there is evidence to suggest that certain skin-whitening medicines, like hydroquinone, contain ingredients which may have carcinogenic properties that can be harmful. In other words, the drug may

increase risks of cancer. For that reason, though available over the counter in low doses in the United States, Hydroquinone can only be obtained by prescription from a doctor in many countries. It was even banned for a while in Europe but is now once again attainable by prescription only.

7KHUH DUH KXJH FRQVHTXHQFHV WR DEXVLQJ VNLQ OLJKWHQLQJ PHGV We have all likely seen celebrity skin bleaching jobs gone wrong and what overly bleached skin can look like: unnaturally white with a grayish, very dull tint. However, the corpse-like skin is not even the worse of it. When Hydroquinone is used in doses higher than 2% or over a period longer than three months, the whole skin lightening business can have some pretty negative, even paradoxical results. “With higher concentrations of the medicine, there have been reports of the development of exogenous ochronosis, the darkening of the skin which is permanent and very resistant to any treatment, Dr. Kassim explained. Though there is a possibility that this skin reaction can develop with lower doses, the risks are increased when the dose is higher. Overuse of skin whiteners can also cause pigmentation to build up in your extremities (fingers, toes, ears etc.), causing them to look darker and mismatched. Yet another negative reaction can develop known as the “bleach panda effect, where the skin on the face becomes thinned around the eyes and have increased pigmentation. Cute on a panda, not so much on a human.

1DWXUDO VNLQ OLJKWHQLQJ RSWLRQV H[LVW DV ZHOO For those wary of harmful chemicals, explore natural remedies to lighten skin. “There are many naturally occurring agents that can be found in nature that have lightening properties, Dr. Kassim explained. Chemical-free and easy-to-find alternatives to over the counter or prescription skin lightening products include Vitamin C, topical creams with Azelaic acid (a component of grains like wheat and barley)and the Chinese herb Cinnamomum Subavenium. There is also some research to suggest that pomegranate extract and vitamin E oral supplements may also inhibit melanin production. For less extreme cases of skin tone unevenness, a simple peel or daily exfoliant may do the trick. If money is not a problem, look for toxin-free skin lightening products currently available on the market: They tend to cost a bit more because they have expensive ingredients, but they may be less abrasive and harmful.

Glory Revealed Text: John 9: 1-3 It is very easy to throw in the towel or wave the white flag of surrender when faced with difficult situations. Each time we do this we miss out on the thrill of victory. You can never know where you are and how far you have come if there is nothing to measure your strength and your faith. Rejoice in that whatever we face in this life is win-win for those who put their faith and belief in Christ Jesus. Victory over death meant for us that we have overcome by the Blood of the Lamb. It is because of who we are in Christ that we as well can sing as written in 1 Corinthians 15:55, “O death where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” We are able to sing victory songs because the Glory of God has been revealed in His son Jesus Christ. Matthew 5: 11-12… We rejoice in adversity not because we claim defeat but because we know that the Glory of God is going to be revealed in whatever we go through. We rejoice because we know that the same God that leads us through the valley, His Presence goes with us through the valley. Psalm 23:4…. God also will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength, and with each temptation, He will provide you with an escape that you may be able to endure it. 1Corinthians 10: 13. We cannot give in to fear but must stay strong and be courageous “because greater is He that is in us then he that is in the world.” 1 John 4: 4. As Jesus was passing by one day, they brought to Him a man that was born blind. His Disciples began to rationalize why the man was born blind; perhaps it was because of his sins or his parents’. The answer Jesus gave 30

in John 9: 1-3, revealed that we are all tools in God’s Hand and He can use any situation or any condition to reveal His Glory in our lives. If Jesus had not met a paralytic man in Matthew 9: 4-6, how will we know Jesus has authority to forgive sins? God can use anything, even the dumb donkey to reveal His Glory. The way to measure your strength, faith and where you are and how far you have come is how you deal with storms in your life. The only qualification required to be in the Lord’s Army is your faith. Since you do not have a choice in how you were created, you cannot choose how God’s Glory shall be revealed through you. Always remember you are the clay and God is the potter. God led you in the direction of the storm so you may seek after Him and also that His Glory may be revealed. Isaiah 29:16; 45:9-12. In Daniel 4: 30-37…. King Nebuchadnezzar was driven from the palace into the wilderness and he ate grass like cattle because he boasted of his might and of his majesty. When he realized his folly that he was only clay made for God’s purposes, he repented and it was then that he was restored. 1 Corinthians 1:31 says “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” God’s glory was revealed through a man who thought he could run away from serving God and said he would rather die than to do what God asked him to do. During the storm Jonah asked those in the ship to throw him in the sea so as to calm down the storm, but his motive was to commit suicide by drowning to avoid fulfilling his God given mission. He forgot he was created for God’s purpose and Glory because as soon as he landed in the sea, God

had prepared a big fish to swallow him so he would not drown. Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights after which the fish vomited him out on dry ground. Jonah 2:10. He returned back to where he came from and performed the task the Lord had previously given to him. Instead of fighting God or running away from God, why not submit to Him by putting your faith in Him and then stand back to see the Glory of God revealed through whatever you are going through. Stop looking at your situation as hopeless; whatever you have gone through, whatever you are going through is so that the Glory of God might be revealed through you. Amen. Jesus says in John 11:40 “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the Glory of God?” Think about this for a moment -- why would God allow Joseph to be sold into slavery? Why would God allow Daniel to be put in the lion’s den? Why would God allow the three Jewish men be put in the fire? Why would God allow His Only Begotten Son to be publicly humiliated and killed on the Cross? Why would Jesus wait for four days before returning to Bethany to bring Lazarus back to life? But all these happened so the Glory of God may be revealed. John 11:3-4, 14, 38-40. We are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. If we never go through the storm, we will never seek after God; going through the storm actually prepares you for the next step of your journey. Therefore, let us stop looking at the things we face as punishments or judgments, but as a way for God’s Glory to be revealed. How you view your situation can either strengthen your faith or make you lose your faith. I want you to remember this saying of Jesus in John 9:3 when faced with a situation that questions or challenges your faith -- “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life”. When your child is not acting right … “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life”; Challenges in your marriage…. “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in your life”; bad report about your health…. “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in your life”; Loss of income and job…. “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in your life”; anxiety about the future….. “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in your life.” God has authority over all things, the storm, the weather, your health, your finances and even your future. He knows when you come in and go out and your plans before you hatch them in your heart. God’s sign of everlasting love is all around us to encourage us when we go through the storm of this life. He gave us the sign of the rainbow as an everlasting covenant that He would never destroy the Earth by rain. He gave Moses the sign of a bronze snake that whenever the Israelites looked up to the bronze snake,

they would not die of snake bites. He gave us a much bigger sign than all other signs combined in His Son Jesus. The Cross became the symbol of God’s Glory revealed in His Son Jesus Christ and it is when you look up to the One pierced that you can receive forgiveness of your sins and the gift of Eternal Life. John 19: 37. There is no greater love than what Jesus did for you and I on the Cross when He laid down His life for the sake of His friends. The work Jesus completed on the Cross was how God’s Glory was revealed to mankind. You can imagine how boastful we would be if salvation could be bought with money or by works. But God’s Glory was revealed in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us all. God will see you through the storm and He will bring you out. Strengthen yourself daily with the word of God and do what it says. Do not forsake the gathering of believers who devote themselves to worship, praise and prayer. It is your faith that gets God’s attention and not crying and feeling sad and singing sad songs. Ultimately, it is your faith that will see you through and carry you through, it is your faith that pleases God and releases His Mercy and Grace upon you. Do not be afraid but stand strong, for the Lord your God shall be with you wherever you go. God bless you.

IGNITE YOUTH MISSION TRIP 2016 NIAGARA FALLS, NY

ɏ Ȫ Q ʑ Ȳ ʢ ʑ ȼ ʩ ʑ ɨ 0

God has been so faithful to me, my family, and our church as a whole. He has blessed us and given us everything we need. What an awesome God we serve. This past summer God has given me, along with other Bread of Life youths, the grace and the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Niagara Falls, New York for a week to serve a community of less fortunate. It was an amazing experience for me. The youth and I were assigned to different stations during the day and some of us were assigned to a community center for children. Some of the activities we did with the children included reading Bible stories, facilitating and supervising games, and doing arts and crafts with them. We also had an exercise warm-up, which involved them participating in a dance called “Father Abraham” and memorizing Proverbs 15:1 which teaches that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. In the evening, everyone from different church groups came together for fellowship with one another. We worshipped God as one, and we shared the Word of God, which was one of my favorites for the week. 36

What I found to be most disturbing in working with these underprivileged children was learning from one of the leaders, Ms. Bobby Jo, how some of them are homeless or don’t have enough clothes so they wear the same clothes every day. Many of the children we served don’t even have adequate or healthy food to eat – here in the United States of America! My prayer is that God will help these children and provide for them so that they don’t suffer. One of the things I enjoyed most was the interaction and friendships I made with youths in other church groups. In fact, some of us still maintain contact today. Overall, the week was a successful week and I thank God for his presence with us throughout and bringing us back home safely. My mission service in Niagara Falls was, I believe, a huge success. I also believe that my service as church drummer for Bread of Life somewhat prepared me for service outside of Bread of Life. I know that God has called me to this ministry and so far, it has been nothing but a blessing and a success. Working in the house of God is by far the best working place in the world. When you are working for God, it’s only you and God alone. You are not there to please man but God Himself. I believe that my work as a drummer will not end in the church. My goal and prayer is to spread the Word of God through my God given gift and draw souls to Christ by way of the Holy Spirit. One of the ways I know that God is continuously working in me is when people complement me for doing a great job on a particular day. As long as God is with me and I’m still alive, I will keep on working for the Lord, giving unto Him, and serving Him always. Dunamis! Power!! Taiwo Josheph Fakuade

My Maiden Trip to Mother Africa Lusaka, Zambia Our Foreign Missions Team here at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church was planning a mission trip to Lusaka, Zambia for August 2016. Those interested in going were told that Zambia has a large Christian influence, but that there are still many people in remote areas who have never heard the Gospel. Moreover, approximately 20% of the population is infected with the HIV virus. The hope and purpose of the mission trip was to minister to as many people as possible by working with our partner ministry in Zambia, who we had supported and partnered with since 2006. We also hoped to bring attention to the enormous needs of the churches, families and the orphan church in Kalikiliki, Ngombe, and Valley View Compounds. I wanted so badly to go, but wondered too, whether I could overcome my fears and trepidations about traveling so far away from home and everything I knew, to the place of my ancestral birth, Africa. I had to try for this opportunity might never come again. I braced myself and said, Yes! I will go. This was early Spring 2016 ... Fast forward to August 2016 ‌ As we rode into the village to minister to the children, I started crying and could not stop for a while. I was thinking no one should have to live like this. How am I going to be able to help anyone blubbering? God dried my tears. By the time we reached the school, God had prepared me to do what He sent me there to do.

The school was without electricity, chairs and desks. There were no real windows or doors. There were openings that allowed the sand to blow into the large room continually. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that there were no paved streets there - only sandy, dirt roads. As I taught, dirt blew in through the ‘windows’ and into my mouth, my hair. The children sat on the dirty floor and listened attentively and respectfully. They were able to answer all questions I asked about the lesson. After teaching everyday, we fed the children. This was where I learned a valuable lesson. They ate the food that was prepared for them with gusto and gratitude. No one complained. They smiled and said thank you. I always wished we had more to give. I felt like we were not doing enough. I learned that I am a wasteful person. Today I am eating food I would not normally eat and being grateful. I am throwing away less and saving more. I am saving more so I will have more to give to the children in Lusaka, Zambia and even beyond. By Gwen Clemmons (Gwen Clemmons is a member of Mt. CAN A CHRISTIAN

LOSE HIS/HER SALVATION?

There is a belief that is going on these days about Salvation—some say it has always been around, and that some are just catching up with it. These teachings, I daresay are mind boggling. Indeed this is the end times and we need to be sure of where we stand in and with the Lord. Times like this and like every other time we go to the word of God that does not change as men and their teachings change. Ps 119:89 — Forever oh Lord, thy word is settled in Heaven. Now, who is a Christian? 1. A Christian is someone who has accepted and confessed Jesus as his/her Lord and savior — born again. Jn 3:3, Jn 14:6 2. Someone who has a relationship with the Lord Jesus Jn 10:27, Mt 7:23 At Salvation which is the very first step of being a Christian, nobody could have paid the price Is 64:6 — Jesus paid that price for you and I, it was never FREE. However, after Salvation, now that you belong to Him, a lifelong relationship must begin and in this relationship, there are expectations of God for you. Some claim that you don’t have to do anything, that Christ has done it all! This is the lie of the devil. Jesus said you must carry your cross daily—Lk 9:23, the scripture says you must work out your salvation with fear and trembling Phil 2:12. Other scriptures — Jn 4:8, Mt 7:7, Jn 9:4 — all involve some degree of doing on your part as a Christian. In all of your doing however, the name of the Lord must be glorified since your life is no longer yours. Rom 12:1. The Bible is very clear on the status of our salvation at any time — Jn 15:4 Remain in me and i will remain in you—(NIV). This means that He is not in you if you are not in Him (your choice). Apostle Paul said “I die daily.” 1 Cor 15:31. Jesus said anyone who wants to follow him must deny himself, take up his cross and follow him (all doings by you) Mt 16:24. Here is the truth — in as much as we reamin in him, our salvation is secure, amen! When the prodigal son left home—Lk 15, his father never went to look for him! Did the father miss him while he was away? Yes. Was he still his father’s son while he was away? Yes. Did the father stop loving him while he was away? Absolutely No!! Jer 31:3. Was grace available to him while he was away? Yes! Grace has al42

ways been available even when he decided to go his own way. Nothing snatched him away from his father — Jn 10:28 — except himself! However, when he came back to his senses (repent) Lk 15:17, his father gladly welcomed him back, Jn 6:37—remember he had to come back (repented—before he was accepted), this means that though he was in the fold (saved) he went away ( out of the fold) and had to come back to be accepted. Some say – don’t worry about it, Grace will always bring you back, Amen to that! I wonder what happened to Judas Iscariot— he was one of the original disciples (in the fold—saved I believe), though realized he had sinned Mt 27:3 — ended up hanging himself—was Grace not made available for him? In conclusion, any Christian found wanting in his relationship with the Lord can lose his Salvation—“let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” 1 Cor 10:12 — why this warning if our salvation has been secured once and forever with Him? In Rev 2:1, Rev 3:1-6 and many others — these are scriptures (letters) to the church — the body of Christ — that includes you and I. Rev 2:5 — “remember therefore from whence thou art fallen and repent—or else I will come quickly and remove thy candlestick out of his place. Rev 3:5 He that overcometh — I will not blot his name out of the book of life — meaning some names (Christians’) that were earlier written in the book of life could be blotted out! God have mercy. Please brethren, beware of false teachings, hold on to what you have always believed in Christ Jesus. God and His standards have not changed. Heb 13:8. Narrow is still the way that leadeth to Heaven. Mt 7:14. The beauty and the faithfulness of the Almighty God we serve is that — you will always know where you stand in and with Him. Rom 8:16 — if it is otherwise, please repent today. I WILL SEE YOU IN HEAVEN BY HIS GRACE IN JESUS’ NAME, AMEN. By Dc. Femi Oladimeji

SUCCESS FAILURE by Grace Iyare

and

had numerous failures. So then, what should we do to achieve real success? Let’s focus our attention on SUCCESS. We can’t proceed without looking at what the scriptures say in Psalms 75:6-7 (KJV) – “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another”. Deut. 8:18 (KJV) says “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” (Emphasis added). Lots of people do not know God but yet are successful in life. Clearly — success can also be based on vision, overcoming of obstacles like fear and indecisiveness.

Many are afraid to fail but fail to realize that failure is a stepping stone to success. We all look at the bright side and the feeling you derive when you reach the mark of success. Failure enables you to appreciate success and a desire to remain there. Success is defined as getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame, e.g., business gurus, scientist, thinkers, inventors, public figures, Hollywood stars writers, Artists musicians, athletes, spiritual leaders and the like. Great men and women in society around the world today, once failed in their various life pursuits before succeeding in their careers, businesses and even in their marriages. ‘True’ failure, you say, what do you mean by that? Grace: I’ve failed numerous times. Ahh, but you are not a ‘true’ failure if you are still trying, and that is the paradox of failure and success. Almost all successes 50

For example, Thomas Edison, founder of General Electric and holder of more patents than anyone else in history had considerable vision. Edison worked for more than two years to improve the lightbulb; it was already invented by someone else, but the problem was the filament — it would burn out after just a few minutes. Edison had a vision of a working lightbulb where the filament would last for months. Edison and his team at Menlo Park, CA, tried over 6,000 different filament materials, including thousands made from plants and animals, as well as every metal and mineral available. Can you imagine that scenario? Well, that didn’t work, let’s try again. Well, that didn’t work, let’s try again. Well, that didn’t work, let’s try again. Try and picture the obstacles and the multiple huge attempts. When do you stop? When you stop, you fail. Edison could not picture any experiment as a failure. Instead, he held a picture of success in his head, a vision of what he thought could be. There might be curves, bumps and loops but remain determined and emulate the business gurus, athletes and inventors. If you quit — there will be no success.
