42nd Annual Cattle Baron’s Gala

Editor: Leslie Foley Following the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s celebration in October 2019, no one could have predicted the roller coaster ride we would be in for 2020. Typically, guests would have come together in person to celebrate the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission, cancer survivors, and working together to finding a cancer cure. As you know this past year has been a whirlwind of change and transition as new ways to achieve their mission during this COVID pandemic were explored. For the first time in American Cancer Society’s 107 year history, the American Cancer Society’s cancer research and program funding were at risk.

On October 24th, American Cancer Society premiered the virtual 42nd Annual Cattle Baron’s Gala accompanied by the 15th Annual Ranch Chic Fashion Show which honored cancer survivors for strength, their bravery and their willingness to give back and share their stories. Their stories are unique but share commonalities for how individuals and families can unite as a community to fight this disease. Their stories echo those of so many survivors. Their cancer journeys inspire others to come together to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer. This along with community leaders led the way for an amazing evening full of hope.

A big thanks for co-presenting sponsors Mays Cancer Center and University Health and their commitments along with KENS5 TV for this year’s virtual event for both the Cattle Baron’s Gala and Ranch Chic Fashion Show. n
