arbecue in all its juicy, fall-off-the-bone scrumptiousness is a Texas staple with some of the best down-home sides you could imagine. Black’s BBQ Lockhart Dating back to 1932, Black’s BBQ in Lockhart is the oldest family-owned barbecue restaurant in Texas. Third generation Pitmaster Kent Black slow smokes all the barbecue the way his grandfather did in 1932. A simple rub, local post oak wood, and patience is the secret. Central Texas Style Barbecue This family owned and operated barbecue establishment in Pearland, Texas, has been delighting customers since 1969. Ruth LeClere owner of Central Texas Style Barbecue has a loyal following of clientele who keep coming back for her Cubaninspired side dishes along with her barbecue. Using old-school pits to cook the brisket all night, it’s no wonder one of the favorite dishes on the menu is chicken on the bone, and the pulled pork. The “Eddie Grilled Cheese Brisket Sandwich, named after a customer, is a favorite you will have to call ahead for on Wednesdays. When asked what would be one word to describe her place LeClere said, “It’s like home. The memorabilia on the walls and photos on the table of her family make you feel like you, too, are part of LeClere’s relations.
