“Well Done, You have been a good and Faithful Servant”
I can’t remember a time that I did not love God and want to serve Him. I’ve endured hardships and extreme sadness. I have failed Him over and over but the desire to serve is always there. I want Him to be pleased and I want to hear the words “Well Done, You have been a good and Faithful Servant” I admit I do not understand all of the End Time Scriptures and Prophecy. We hear from those that believe in a Rapture of the Church and those that don’t. I read and hear from those that firmly believe in a seven- year Tribulation period with the “Rapture “ occurring before this event starts but then some say it will occur at the mid mark or three and a half years after it begins. Then, o my, there are those that are firmly convinced that there will be no “Tribulation” period at all. There is also some controversy about the belief of the “Millenium” or thousand year reign of Christ on this earth. So I have decided not to perplex myself with knowing for sure what will take place. I know that we all need to stay ready for whatever and whenever. There are so many prophetic signs going on now that we can know for sure that the end is near. This illustration comforts me because if life is like this, whether in Heaven or during the “Millenium” I want to be there.

God Hears Our Prayers:
A Story from Digital Bible Society Oscar lives in an orphanage called Mission Moroto in Uganda, Africa. Even though Oscar is less than ten years old, he is very smart. He grew up in a different part of Uganda where people speak Acholi, but quickly learned the language spoken at the orphanage. However, there was something Oscar really wanted – a Bible in Acholi. This was the language that Oscar used to speak with his mom and dad. In Uganda, not everyone knows how to read books, and even if they can, many people like to share stories by talking and not by reading. Oscar wanted a special kind of Bible that could talk to him in his heart language, Acholi. He wanted to hear the stories from the Bible, just like he used to talk to his parents. One day, Papa Matt, an American missionary who works at the orphanage, traveled to Conroe, Texas and was given Pearl Player Audio Bibles by Digital Bible Society. Once he returned to Uganda, the children received them as gifts. But Oscar was sad because the Audio Bibles were not in Acholi. For two years, he continued to pray and ask Papa Matt if he could one day have an Audio Bible in Acholi. Papa Matt told the Digital Bible Society about Oscar. Everyone was touched by how much he wanted to hear the Bible in his heart language. The Digital Bible Society team found a way to get a special recording of the Bible in Acholi. They then put it on a Pearl Player Audio Bible and gave it to Papa Matt the next time he was in town. Papa Matt could not wait to give Oscar the Bible. He arrived at the orphanage with a large suitcase filled with Pearl Player Audio Bibles, including one specifically for Oscar. Could it be that God had heard Oscar’s prayers? Yes! Oscar’s face lit up with a giant smile that erupted into laughter. God had indeed listened. He hears our prayers. Digital Bible Society (DBS) is a ministry with a mission: to ensure that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, can access the Word of God. We accomplish this by uniting the efforts of Bible publishers, translators, content creators, donors, and Christian workers worldwide. Sadly, millions of people around the globe still lack access to the Bible, but you and your community can make a significant difference. Whether it’s supporting orphanages like Mission Moroto, empowering underground churches in the world’s most challenging regions for Christians, or aiding countless others in between, you have the power to bring God’s Word to those in need. Our resources include online Bibles, Digital Bibles on MicroSD cards, and the transformative Pearl Player Audio Bibles. If you feel called to help children like Oscar and fellow Christians enduring persecution receive the gift of God’s Word, please reach out to us at info@dbs.org or explore our website at www.dbs.org. Together, we can make Scripture accessible for those who need it most. 10

Splendora ISD 2023-24 school year starts with record student enrollment by Dr. Jeff Burke, Superintendent of Schools
Splendora Independent School District (ISD) commenced the 2023-2024 academic year with a record surge in student enrollment, marking an exciting chapter of growth. Alongside this growth, our students have experienced tremendous success across our district, with many of our extra and co-curricular programs earning awards and accolades or advancing to the playoffs. We have also focused on inducting new students and their families to our culture and beliefs. Our emphasis remains on fostering positive connections with our students and offering top-tier educational experiences. This entails a continued focus on our Early College program, an alliance with Lone Star College, an amplification of vocational certifications and career-driven education, and a commitment to engaging each student, both within the classroom and through clubs, extracurricular, and co-curricular activities. We continue to make every effort to ensure that our students are involved in something while they are with us. Our teachers, staff, and administrators persist in their efforts to support our student body and families. We acknowledge and embrace the opportunity to shape critical thinkers, adaptable learners, and responsible citizens who will contribute to advancing our democracy. Our dedication to our mission stands unwavering, and amidst the prevailing negative discourse surrounding public schools, we take pride in our school district and community. We are mindful of our obligation to provide each student with a pathway to discover their talents and strengths. As the Superintendent of Schools, I am committed to ensuring that our district remains at the forefront of innovation, geared toward the future, and prepared to cater to every student who crosses the threshold of Splendora ISD. The future shines brightly within our district, and I extend a warm welcome to all the new families and students who have chosen Splendora ISD as their preferred public school district.

Hearts In Serenity by Tiffany Wiggins-Blackmon
When it comes to matters of the heart, I know first -hand the impact that life circumstances can have on the heart, mind, and spirit. I was born into a world filled with darkness and violence. My dad suffered with PTSD and Bi-Polar disorder. My home and heart were full of fear and anxiety as gun shots, fighting, verbal abuse, intimidation and violent rage were a “normal” day in my world. God was never mentioned therefore I never knew Him or what true peace was. I am so thankful that God had other plans for me. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV “ For I know the plans I have for you plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future,” Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I battled constant fear, anxiety and depression. It continued into my late twenties. Since I didn’t know God, I had no peace, and no true joy that only Jesus can give. I knew in my heart that there had to be more to this life than what I was enduring, As I continued to struggle God showed up and placed a sign in my path that awakened my heart to pursue Him. I gave my heart to Jesus at the age of 28. Soon after, I met a man that attempted to steal the peace that I had just received. He was very much like my dad, so I continued to relive the cycle of abuse in my marriage. During that season of my life, I felt a calling into ministry, and I attended Bible College full time and worked a full-time job. I received my associate degree in biblical studies in 2014. In the meantime, I had given birth to two boys and was still enduring my abusive marriage. When I questioned why I was still enduring the abuse, God showed me the signs to leave my abusive marriage and recapture the peace in my heart that the enemy tried to steal. On my journey to healing I met my husband Heath and felt led to continue my education to receive my Bachelor of Ministry in Christian Counseling. In the midst of my journey my husband and I wanted to move out of the city, so we bought Crockett Printing in Crockett, Texas in November of 2019. Not knowing the challenges ahead with a new business during a pandemic we pressed through the adversity. In November of 2020 with a 3-month-old baby in tow I started my ministry in Crockett, Texas called Hearts In Serenity. We met Wednesdays in the morning and Thursday evenings weekly. It started out with a mission to help women and teens through abuse from their present or past circumstances, but it soon shifted into something so much bigger. Hearts In Serenity is a ministry that believes, by receiving Gods peace, you can overcome the circumstances or storms you may endure. After a year of meeting weekly I knew there was more to my ministry. God showed me in Bible College that my ministry would be limitless in the people that it would one day touch. He put on my heart to use the wall of my building at Crockett Printing located at 520 E. Goliad Ave. Crockett, Texas in a unique way. Angels have been a big part of my life and God led me to have angel wings painted on the side of the building. I know without 18
Kid-and-Kaboodle.com
a doubt God has had his angels helping me and protecting me and my family in so many ways. The wall has 3 sets of wings and each one has a story behind them. The small set of wings represents joy, peace, and hope. Romans 15:13 “I pray that God, the source of hope will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit” is painted above them. The middle set, the medium sized wings represent protection, refuge, and faithfulness. “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” Psalms 91:4. The large set represents soaring above your circumstances and finding new strength in Him. “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint” Isaiah 40:31. Each set of wings represent seasons we all go through in life that our heart endures. When a person truly understands what it means to have a Heart In Serenity the wings and the verses will resonate so deeply. My prayer is that everyone that finds themselves in Downtown Crockett will have their own way to relate to each set of wings and when they stand in front of them in their current season and they are able to look back at the pictures and see how God provided and gave them the joy, peace, protection, strength and hope to get through their circumstances. Soon after the wings in mid-2022 I felt led to become a Certified Christian Life Coach and I held Christian Life Coaching Workshops out of my shop at Crockett Printing which was also a Christian Book and Gift Shop as well as a full-service Print Shop. God has shifted my ministry in 2023 into something I could never have imagined. I am now serving Him in a pair of scrubs in the healthcare industry helping the elderly population with healthcare needs, resources, support and compassion in Huntsville, Texas. After a couple of months into my new season. God has been directing me to go back to school to become a Registered Nurse and I have been accepted at The University of Texas at Arlington to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Once completed, I cannot wait to see where He moves me and my ministry. God is moving so rapidly and moving me from season to season to help each person he puts in my path into a Heart In Serenity in His own unique way.

Humble ISD bus drivers enjoy more time with family Benefits of Driving with Humble ISD
Humble ISD Bus Driver Sindy Bayley
A driver’s story
As Seth Bayley entered his senior year of high school at Kingwood Park last fall, his mother Sindy wanted to find a job that would allow her to spend more quality time with him. Sindy, who moved with her family from New York City four years ago, decided to trade in her METRORail keys for a set of keys to an Humble ISD school bus for the 2022-2023 school year. The career change for Sindy gave her major benefits, the biggest being on the same break schedule as her senior son. “I was off when he was off, holidays, the additional weeks off in October and February for family time and scheduling vacation time and the whole summer,” Sindy said. “That was the biggest bonus.” Sindy starts her day at 6 a.m. and works until roughly 9:30 a.m. on her morning shift. In the afternoon, she works from about 2 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. taking the children back home. During the middle of the day, that free time allows her to run errands, set doctor appointments, and attend parentteacher conferences. “A lot of personal time to get to do what people can’t normally do during the week,” Sindy said of the midday break. “It’s a big benefit. Especially for me, because I brought my mother with me when I moved from New York and I get to help her out in the middle of my day.” As Sindy prepared to return back to work for her second year as an Humble ISD bus driver in August, she was most excited to see her bus riders again. Known as “Ms. B” on her bus, Sindy said the best part of her day is seeing them step onto her bus for the first part of their school day. “The joy is seeing them in the morning and seeing them happy and smiling,” she said. “If they have a theme day, you get to see them dress up. On my bus, if it is someone’s birthday we sing happy birthday and get to celebrate.”
TRAINING Humble ISD provides training to bus drivers throughout the school year to create the safest environment for students and staff who are transported by bus. Each summer all bus drivers get back-to-school safety training. New drivers get Entry Level Driver Training to become certified, which takes three to four weeks. Safety meetings are held with bus drivers every other month during the school year. “We focus on safe driving,” Humble ISD Lead Trainer Carlton Shannon said. “All the training we do is consistent and catered to our district. With training here, drivers pick up our students and know where all the schools are during their training. They get district familiarity and their CDL at the same time.” COMPETITIVE SALARY Trainees are paid $13.54 per hour and once they become certified, the pay is increased to $20 per hour. Region 4 also requires drivers to take an eight hour recertification course every three years. SERVICE FOR DRIVERS’ CHILDREN Humble ISD Transportation offers a service to its drivers who have children who attend a school in the district. The bus driver can bring their child with them to the North or South Transportation Center and they will be transported to their school at the beginning of the day and back to the transportation center from school at the end of the school day. Drivers also work on the same schedule as students and teachers, getting all the same breaks, including the summer off.

These CTE programs are designed to give students a competitive edge in their chosen career paths, providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in today’s job market.
The introduction of the Community On Patrol in Schools (C.O.P.S) program is a testament to the district’s dedication to the safety and security of its students. By involving community volunteers in the oversight of school campuses, Cleveland ISD is fostering a strong sense of shared responsibility for safety. These volunteers play a vital role in monitoring various aspects of the school day, ensuring that students can focus on learning in a secure environment. The C.O.P.S program not only enhances safety but also strengthens the bond between the district and the community, creating a supportive and protective educational ecosystem. Sorcha, the drug detection dog, has quickly become a beloved member of the Cleveland ISD family. With her keen senses and friendly demeanor, she makes the daily campus visits a positive experience for students and staff. Sorcha’s role in the district is essential in ensuring a drug-free environment where students can learn and thrive without unnecessary distractions. Her presence is a symbol of Cleveland ISD’s proactive approach to maintaining a safe and drug-free school environment, reinforcing the district’s commitment to the well-being of its students. In summary, Cleveland ISD’s impressive growth, commitment to academic excellence, and dedication to the safety and security of its students make it a standout district in the Texas educational landscape. The success stories of its graduates and the innovative programs in place continue to set high standards for education and provide a nurturing environment for students to flourish. Cleveland ISD is not only growing but thriving, creating a bright future for its students and the community as a whole.

Focusing on the Good News By Deborah Elum, Author & Producer “I’m only taking good news today,” my friend’s voice on the other end of the telephone said. Her words struck a chord with me as we were both members of the same church and part of the prayer ministry. We had both experienced a difficult year that had seen the loss of our pastor, the closure of our church, and the scattering of its members. In times of uncertainty and loss, it is easy to lose sight of hope. But despite all of this, we found new hope and joy in what had been a time of sorrow, grief, and uncertainty. In the midst of what felt like an ending, we found a new beginning. We found new pastors and new church families, and still maintained the relationships we had built over many years from our previous church. In the book of Isaiah 9:6, God promised His people that a Savior would be born to save His people from hopelessness, loss, and uncertainty. Jesus’s birth would bring life, joy, peace and hope like they had never known. Just as our previous church family found new life and hope in the midst of what felt like an ending, you too can find hope and joy in the good news that Jesus is your Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6: “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” You can contact Deborah at P.O. CHANGING THE WORLD “There are no great deeds. Only small deeds done with great love.” – Mother Teresa When we think of “changing the world” we tend to think of those big sweeping movements that have made lasting change the world over. But when you really get down to it, to “change the world” means to make a change to better one’s person’s world. I witnessed that very thing while having lunch recently with my brother, Ralph. We met at the local Senior Citizens Center where they provide services to area seniors along with recreational activities and a daily lunch that members and non-members can purchase. As we were checking in at the front desk and paying for our meal, I noticed Ralph handing some cash to one of the volunteers. She smiled and asked, “One month?” He nodded and she walked away. It was a casual exchange that sparked my curiosity. When we were seated at our table, I questioned him about it. He told me that there is a man who is wheelchair bound that he sees at the local gas station every morning not far from his house. Ralph has taken it upon himself to give to the local Meals on Wheels to take a meal to this man every day. Meals on Wheels is a program that provides homedelivered meals to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities. This man has no idea who is paying for his meals, but every day he gets a hot meal at lunch time and his world is a little better. It was a reminder to me that we may not be able to end hate and violence in this world, but we can all do something for someone. We can tell the cashier at the gas station we appreciate how well she is doing her job. We can offer to let someone go in front of us in line when we have a large cart of groceries, and they only have a few items. We can pick up a piece of trash someone has just thrown on the ground and put it in the garbage can with no judgment. If we start with these simple acts, we will instinctively want to do more. We just need to remember that no act of kindness is too small. Each one makes the world a better place. By helping someone feel special, loved and important, you are “changing the world” – for that one person. Paula Enloe worked as a legal assistant for over 25 years and is a certified family law mediator. She is the author of the book “Lessons From My Mirror - Change Begins With Me.” Paula and her husband Noble, began having Bible Studies in their home when Covid-19 restricted public gatherings in church buildings. When their group began to grow, they founded the Family Worship Center of Plum Grove, Texas. In 2022, they moved into a building but continue to keep the home setting inside with couches, tables and chairs. Their motto is “Doing Church Differently”. They count it as their greatest privilege to share the love of Jesus to each person they come in contact with daily.
