Eef Oost About…
While working in the architecture and interiors scene, I came in direct contact with a variety of materials, colour combinations, patterns and weave structures; and my fascination for textiles grew. After I completed my studies in textiles, I gained “industrial” experience for several years at a weaving mill for woven linen - mostly on dobby. And now, with a Jacquard, I am discovering the possibilities that it offers - in terms of creating dobby-like structures with a jacquard twist in it.

I’m working on creating samples of curtains and decorative fabrics for a small upholstery collection. I’m looking for ways to combine these weavings with my printed fabrics. I’m inspired by the combination of different structures with graphic patterns. I like to explore both functional and spatial aspects of a textile and am driven by an affinity to structures and colour combinations. The incredible possibilities of perceiving the fabric as an object or in relation to the spatial context triggers me. Could the woven piece work autonomously and what would be the impact of this piece in an interior context among other materials? Or could it hold on in a public space with an excess of light? (The designs are created with the software - EAT)

How can you bring together a straight and contrasting dobby pattern with a monochrome fine Jacquard pattern. Used a brown cotton Nm 36/2 warp, with 24 threads/cm and black cotton and a light grey wool for the weft.
With this sample, I explored the influence of a yarn on this pattern to create a border. Used a brown cotton Nm 36/2 warp with 24 threads/cm and brown soft cotton, white bouclé and stone washed cotton-acrylic as the weft.

Used a brown cotton Nm 36/2 warp with 24 threads/cm and light brown soft cotton, dark grey wool , light grey wool and a fine dark green cotton as the weft - to give a little accent beneath.
I tried to create a little relief in this graphic pattern while playing with two diagonal directions. Used a cotton grey/white Nm 8/50 warp with 12 threads/cm and brown cotton-acrylic, fine cotton black-grey print for the weft.
