The Padovan Method® UK - Training Program The most versatile holistic therapeutic approach

WHAT IS THE PADOVAN METHOD®? T h e Pa d o va n M et h o d ® o f Ne u ro - Fu n c t i o n a l Reorganisation (N.F.R) is a natural, holistic, hands- on therapy. It is based on the physiological developmental stages (rolling, creeping, crawling,walking...) in order to stimulate and re-organize the Nervous System pathway. The aim of Padovan Method® is to reorganize neurological circuits responsible for various human activities through specific stimulations in order to restore functions that are lost, or impaired, but also to train intact functions to achieve full potential and wellbeing. Main principles of The Padovan Method®: Ÿ Developmental process of Walking, Speaking, Thinking and their interconnection Ÿ The Neurological Organization of the Nervous System Ÿ Observation of the human being in its natural growth Ÿ Neuro plasticity (rhythm, repetition, regularity) Ÿ Oral functions (breathing, sucking, chewing, and swallowing).

Ÿ Disturbance of consciousness (Vegetative state, minimal Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ

It is safe to be used from birth to old age, with excellent outcomes. The program can be adapted according to the needs of the individual, and can be used for a variety of different conditions/circumstances: Ÿ TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)

conscious state) CVA (Cardio Vascular Accident) MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Degenerative neurological diseases Fibromyalgia Myalgic encephalomyelitis (chronic fatigue syndrome) Parkinson's disease Schizophrenia Dysphagia (swallowing disorders) Cerebral Palsy, Autism Dyspraxia, Dyslexia Aphasia, Stuttering Bruxism (teeth grinding or clenching during sleep) TMJD (Temporal-mandibular Joint Dysfunction), Malocclusion Sensory disturbance (Hypersensitivity, Hyposensitivity) Acquisition of functions that were never acquired due to a developmental delay To improve posture, body awareness, cognitive functions i.e. concentration, attention, memory and performance during day to day activities

The Padovan Method® is now widely used in 12 countries worldwide including Brazil, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Greece and Switzerland with about 400 Padovan Method® specialists certified every year.

HOW DOES THE PADOVAN METHOD® WORK? The Padovan method® stimulates the Central Nervous System through a sequence of exercises by mirroring the neurophysiological development phases of walking, talking and thinking process of the human being, including hands and eyes evolution.

muscles, organs and cranial nerves. Moreover they play a role for the maintenance and shape of proper dental arch and roof of the mouth (mouth shape). A good motor function is another aspect which contributes to a well balance body, mind, and thinking.

Ÿ Physical exercises: a sequence of patterning (homo

Ÿ Rhythm: every exercise is accompanied by a verse,

lateral and crossed), which prepares for the rolling, creeping, and crawling, to finally reach the vertical position (standing), and the crossed march (walking). From the horizontal position, progressively going against the force of gravity to reach the verticality and walking, exactly how it happens during the normal development of human being. This process leads to the maturation of the Central Nervous System and dominant hemisphere. Exercises for the hands and eyes are also done following the neuro evolution phases

Ÿ Oral Motor Function exercises: to give a great

sensory-motor stimulation to the face and mouth, working with the vegetative reflexes of breathing, sucking, chewing, and swallowing. These reflexes allow the child to survive in his new environment as they are important for feeding. These reflexes are considered prelinguistic exercises and prepare for the movement of articulate speech as they have in common the same

song, or poem in order to give rhythm to the movement and to improve its quality and coordination. The verses increase the patient’vocabulary and by creating association in the brain stimulate the thinking and the auditory process; the latter is also important to give reference for balance.

Other complementary exercises are done depending of the ability and needs of the individual. All the exercises can be adapted according to the needs and ability of the person. However, in order to create neuro plasticity it is important that the sequences are done with rhythm, repetition and regularity. By giving sensory and proprioceptive stimulation reaching each level of the nervous system, this is stimulated and built up step by step
