Solstice around the World 2024

RPS International Members

The summer/winter solstice was a challenge to all International members to take an image on the day and to share this.

On June 21st it is the shortest day of the year in the southern hemisphere and the longest in the northern: it is winter - it is summer.

Then ofcourse there are those around the equator zone that this really doesn’t impact on much at all.

This eZine records the work of many members and gives us a glimpse of their world on just this one day.

A very special solstice (June 21 to 22) celebration for these two ladies both born on June 21st. Heather (left) born in the UK in the northern hemisphere and Joan in the southern. Both now live in Sydney, they met in 1970s and have remained as friends ever since.

L’Heure de tous sculpture is a fusion of bronze clocks located in the forecourt of Gare Saint-Lazarre, Paris. Each clock shows a different time which could be confusing when rushing for a train.

During lunch time in Beijing many people order food on the internet. At 12.00 on June 21st I kept my camera focussed on the express delivery men to capture their busy moments.
