Shirley Ryan Ability Lab

Location: Chicago, USA Type: Health Care Site Area: 66,500 sq.ft Floors: 40 Year: Fall 2017 (Masters) Guided by: Professor Micheal Kim Teaching Office: HDR, Chicago Software: Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, V-ray, Lumion, Photoshop The mission of Shirley Ryan Ability Lab is to optimise service through stimulating interaction between clinical care, research and therapy. Thus, enabling application of real time research to physical medicine and rehabilitation. Hence, the primary focus of this project has been the “Ability Labs; which is a pivotal part of the building. The ability labs are the essence of the philosophy behind Shirley Ryan Ability Labs. Our aim is to highlight and emphasize them, in planning as well as form of the building. The main significance is given to the users of the building. By creating optimum and comfortable spaces, which would have a positive impact on the users, contributing to the healing process of the patients.

Architecture for Aquaculture

Location: Incheon, South Korea Type: Industrial Site Area: 455,700 sq.m Floors: 2 Year: Spring 2018 (Masters) Guided by: Professor Ralph Hamman Software: Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, V-ray, Lumion, Photoshop, InDesign, Wufi The goal of the project is to attain efficiency in the development of self-contained modules for the production of their respective fish species and in the usage of renewable sources of energy. With this objective in mind, I have envisioned a facility that proposes functionally flexible modules. Further, public spaces are integrated into the design program to cater to the recreational needs of the local Songdo community and generate additional revenue for the industrial facility. Algae are best produced in a factory environment where not only clean, controlled conditions can be assured, but where the plant is exposed to the most favorable temperature range, carbon dioxide supply and Ph level. The dried algae plant material will be used as algae feed for large-scale aquacultures.

Digital Fabrication-Voronoi Pavilion

Location: University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, USA Type: Digital Fabrication Year: Spring 2019 (Masters) Guided by: Professor Kevin Erickson Software: Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, Grasshopper, V-ray, Lumion, Photoshop This experimental design studio will introduce students to the history and application of digital fabrication techniques employed in the practice of architecture over the past twenty five years. Students will engage in a series of exercises used to establish foundational knowledge in modeling, materials, and machines culminating in a full scale installation. Precedents, processes, and prototypes will play a fundamental role in our approach, with the goal of creating new knowledge and methodologies for shaping our built environment. Working as individuals and as a team, the studio was structured around a series of lectures, workshops, and design projects. Previous experience with advanced modeling, digital fabrication, and construction techniques was not required, however, a genuine interest and willingness to test, fail, and iterate was.

One Night in Bangkok

Location: Bengaluru, India Type: Hospitality Site Area: 2,000 sq.ft Floors: 1 Year: 2016 (Professional Practice) Guided by: Ajay Sethi Software: AutoCAD, Sketchup, V-ray, Lumion, Photoshop One night in Bangkok is a refreshing change from the regular restrobars in town. This place is unmistakably small yet beautiful with a charm of its own. The interiors are wonderfully set up with dimly lit ambiance. The graphics and decor on the walls adds up to a feeling of being in Bangkok. The Buddha statuettes, the Muay Thai wall painting itself takes care of the Thai part. All these small pieces collectively brings out the Thailand architecture in place to create a memorable experience.

Adyar Anand Bhavan

To bring the change to the interiors we worked with minimalistic material both in ground and first floor with two colored laminates and three different grained mica respectively. The ground floor has a fast food and quick dining area whereas the first floor has party hall and fine dining space. Each and every element of the project is detailed with fineness. The facade consists of aluminum panels and fox brown granite. The fixed glazing window all over the building provides enough natural lighting. Decorative hanging lights acted as the highlight and the feature walls used with the help of pattern tiles, hexagonal shaped fabric pattern, are all added attractive element to the restaurant.
