Pre Decimal Star (replacement) Banknotes in choice quality are some of the hottest property numismatic investments you could wish to own in these times - when you can get them. Their numismatic significance and appreciation value has been well documented over the years, producing an unprecedented wave of collectors and investors in hot pursuit of these elusive rarities today.
Our recent Albany and Perth seminars with renowned licensed Futures Advisor and School of Gann expert, David Burton, received overwhelming attendances which resulted in a second seminar being quickly organised in Perth to cater for the volume of people making bookings. David’s expertise as a Futures Advisor is based on the studies of world acclaimed Futures forecaster WD Gann. Gann’s studies of historical global cycles enabled him to accurately predict economic peaks and troughs and the most reliable markets to invest in for the future. Rare and antique collectables such as currencies, feature positively in long term stability and growth performance as outlined in David’s presentations and although this has been well documented within Australia’s numismatic industry for many years now, David’s professional views on the market make for compelling listening. For those interested in David Burton’s expertise in this area, you can subscribe to “Your Trading Edge” which features his regular reports. On behalf of The Rare Coin Company and many clients and interested guests who attended these seminars, we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to David for availing us of his valuable time to visit WA and present his most interesting futures analysis. As 2009 unfolds, his forecast will no doubt be of great interest to the many discerning investors who attended the seminars. Presenting a rare opportunity in Australian Banknote history. The star of our investment section this month is the 1924 Cerutty Collins £100 Issued note featured on our cover. This superb rarity presents a world-class opportunity for numismatic investors to secure one of Australia’s most prized banknote issues. In Ever Popular Demand
Pre Federation Banknotes With Blue Chip Potential If you’ve followed the phenomenal evolution of Australian Colonial banknote issues then you’ll need no introduction to these amazing numismatic performers
Throughout the numismatic market, Pre Federation Specimen issues are known for their impressive historical track record, with growth rates averaging up to 23%*pa over the last decade or so. With increasing demand impacting the availability of these splendid banknotes as the years go by, the view of the Australian numismatic fraternity is that the awesome potential in this banknote area is only just beginning to be realised. The National Bank of Australasia (1858-1982)
Historically, the National Bank of Australasia commenced operation in 1858 in Melbourne successfully trading until the financial crisis of 1893 which saw it suspend briefly then reconstruct to become the National Bank of Australasia Limited the same year. A merger with the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Ltd. in 1982 changed the title to the National Australia Bank where today it remains as one of Australia’s foremost banking institutions.

The Town and Country Bank (1881-1886)
Historically, the Town & Country Bank first opened for business in Adelaide in 1881 with the prime movers being merchants and shopkeepers in the area. A London office was opened in 1884. In 1886 the bank went into liquidation after a prolonged depression which took a massive toll on shareholders who lost heavily in the bank’s collapse. Liquidation of all the bank’s assets were finally completed in 1890. Town & Country notes were issued in denominations of £1, £5, £10, £20 and £50 respectively.

The Bank of Adelaide (1865-1980)
Historically, the Bank of Adelaide had its official beginning in December 1865. Until 1890, the bank’s business was entirely confined to South Australia, however it was later represented in all states. The bank was one of the few which did not close in the financial crisis of 1893 - this became a source of great pride with the bank. With the sudden halt and rapid decline of land values the bank was forced into absorption by the ANZ in 1980.

Rare and Premium Quality Pre Decimal Gems The sky’s the limit for these tiny mintage issues
Early Australian Proof and Specimen coins pre 1950’s are revered for their magnificent striking quality and sublimely small mintages. Together with a consistent price performance that’s equal to none, these highly specialised coins boast the hallmarks of pride and success for today’s quality conscious investor. Australia lays claim to some of the worlds most beautiful and rarest proof coins - in part due to lower production requirements which are significantly small by world standards. Australia’s relatively small population compared to many other developed nations has given our currency a huge advantage in terms of numismatic rarity and significance on the world stage and for many Australian collectors and investors today, this is a reality which is now becoming all too apparent. The time to act is now!
Opportunities in Scarce Quality Australian George V Silver
If you’re in the market for scarce quality pre decimal silver coins, then look no further with these superb examples. The George V era is a strong growing numismatic area in both coin and banknote issues as seen with some extraordinary price increases over the past five years, virtually transforming this segment of the market to an exciting new level. Buyers are assured of good price appreciation when selecting only premium quality pieces, so when it comes to sound buying opportunities for our valued clients, The Rare Coin Company discerningly selects only the best - Guaranteed.

Although Australia’s 1937 crowns were the first to feature the effigy of King George VI, and the only coins issued for that year, 1938 was officially the year of the new currency release, seeing a new face appear on Australia’s circulation coinage after the 36 year reign of King George V. 1938 heralded a new era in our monetary system as each denomination was given a new and more identifiably Australian image. This was the beginning of the reign of King George VI, a popular royal figure dogged by the sudden responsibility that had been thrust upon him after the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII to marry Wallis Simpson. The new coin designs were a turning point in Australia’s coinage history, giving our national currency a more recognisable image for the first time. Decimalisation in January 1966 would give all of Australia’s circulating coin and banknote issues a distinct image, featuring all things typically Australian.
