Good design does not only make people feel comfortable physically but also it makes them enjoy their spirituality. We find its meaning through exploring our experiences, habits, and emotions. Then we use the design way to represent it in front of people’s eyes. It’s a journey to explore our life. It’s a symbol of our culture. -My Design Philosophy

Mutualism

Design Objectives

Mutualism is the association between organisms of two different species in which each benefit in nature. In this project, two disparate elements - senior living and orphanages will work as one entity, conjoined in such a way that one has no meaning whole and would have no meaning without the other. The scope of this project uses interactive programs with efficient components to promote the health and wellbeing of both orphans and seniors. The scope also focuses on using interior design solutions to create a sense of belonging and safety in an intergenerational program.

Existing Problems in the Traditional Medical Space: 1. Sense of discomfort and the fear of seeing doctors. 2. Sense of distance between medical space and the patients. Psychological

3. The uneasiness and anxiety of staying in medical space.

Concept: Key words: Arouse/ Eliminate/ Interact The concept for my project is Hematocytes, also called blood cells. It is a cell produced through hematopoiesis and these cells flow along with the blood throughout our body. Major types of blood cells include white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. They are a family that protect the body's immune system; our body can't live without any of them. My project will use their different functions as the solutions to apply to the various spaces of interior design.

KIDS AREA: WHITE BLOOD CELL I hope to create a positive environment which, like the white blood cell, destroys possible aggression. When patients come into the clinic, this space will help the patient to cooperate and act as functional space for physical therapy.

19

Rendering

RECEPTION AREA: RED BLOOD CELL At the same time, the space will be a relaxing and fun atmosphere for children and help them eliminate as much uneasiness and anxiety as possible when they are doing phyisical therapy, which is like how the red blood cell transfers oxygen.

WAITING AREA: PLATELETS The physical therapists interact with patients frequently and help patients heal more quickly; it will help patients to recover faster, whether it is in physical or psychological ways, which is like the platelets that help wounds heal faster in the body.

CONCEPT: ACCOMPANY According to my client research, I found my client likes to cook healthy food for her children. She has a strong imagination that makes her use simple ingredients to create many possibilities for her cusine. According to my case studies, I realized that the design in my project doesn’t need to be very colorful and childlike. Because I need to find a way that not only can delight children, but also delight adults, I need to balance this relationship. Otherwise, it will look like a kindergarten, not a restaurant. So I would like to choose a very simple style and add some funny and green decorations. At the same, I want to create a functional area that belongs to parents and their children to make their own dishes and story together.

Concept Key words: Touch/ Smell/ See/ Hear/ Taste Generally, one has to spend most of their lifetime in an interior environment, therefore, we are in dire need of interior design that can satisfy the demands of both people who are visually impaired and those who are not. Thus, research on basic demands of the visually impaired is simply indispensable. In the interior space, they feel the function and beauty based on different senses and sensory information as well their instincts and past experience. Only by fully using their sensory system can they enjoy the wind, flowing water, sounds of music, the fragrance of flowers, temperature, and movement. The enriched environment can bring people with visual impairments into a world of imagination, fulfillment and harmony.
