2019 GRANTS

Honor Jensen Award Last year I had the privilege, along with 23 other ‘Shaky Sponges’ from around New Zealand, to be a part of the SGNCZ Young Shakespeare Company (YSC) for 2017. On 26 June, we travelled to London, the home of Shakespeare’s very own Globe Theatre, to take part in two and a half weeks of workshops and rehearsals led by Globe Education, culminating in a one-hour performance of Romeo and Juliet on the Globe’s stage. Women2Watch THE WOMEN2WATCH The Diocesan School Heritage AWARDS CELEBRATE Foundation, in conjunction with the Old Girls’ League, recognises THE EMERGING Diocesan Old Girls who are CAREERS OF OLD GIRLS AGED demonstrating excellence in their chosen fields. Nominations are simple – we only need your nominee’s name and occupation; the Women2Watch committee will do the rest.

This was truly a priceless and enriching experience in so many ways. Firstly, I got to work with and be tutored by acting and theatre professionals who helped me mature as an actor and develop my appreciation for the art and for Shakespeare. Also, my dream of performing on the Globe stage was realised, in addition to which I played Juliet! But most importantly, it was the friendships grown and memories we took away that made this experience what it was. I am so grateful to the Heritage Foundation for awarding me the Honor Jenson Award 2017, because without their support I would not have been able to go on this amazing trip. Thank you.
