En el gran Parlamento del mundo conviven los animales que encarnan las monedas: se encuentran y conversan, presumen y se pavonean, a veces se pelean, cambian de pareja, y mientras gozan de buena salud y confianza son admiradas, cuidadas y codiciadas por ricos y pobres, viejos, jóvenes y niños. Como las estrellas del cine y de la canción, pasado su momento de gloria, casi nadie se acuerda de ellas, aunque su posesión fuera cuestión de vida o muerte. Hemos recogido trozos de los coloquios que la pintora Sofía Gandarias reflejó en su serie “La moneda” al dar vida a esta pintoresca fauna que convive en bolsillos, bolsas, mercados, casas de cambio (bureau de change en inglés) y, sobre todo en la imaginación general, desencadenando pasiones inagotables y a veces inconfesables. Todos y cada uno de los cuadros tiene un collage de un trozo de billete como prueba de autenticidad. Al no estar la mayor parte de ellas en vigor, no se comete ningún delito, salvo quizá el dólar. Empecemos por algunos clásicos consagrados:

In the great Parliament of the world the animals that embody coins coexist: they meet and talk, show off and strut, sometimes fight, change partners, and while they are in good health and trust they are admired, cared for and coveted by the rich and poor, old, young and children. Like cinema and music stars, once their moment of glory has past, hardly anyone remembers them, even if possessing them was a matter of life and death. We have collected pieces of the colloquia, reflected by the painter SofĂa Gandarias in her series "The coin", and given life to this picturesque fauna that lives in pockets, bags, markets, bureaus of change and especially in the general imagination, unleashing inexhaustible and sometimes unspeakable passions. Each and every one of these paintings includes a piece of a banknote as proof of authenticity. As most of them are not in force, no crime as been committed (the dollar might be the exception). Let's start with some honored classics:

A birthday party that brings together all the coins that created the Euro under an umbrella, in order to protect themselves from "the bad fate they are getting into8".
