GENERAL RULES 1. Students are required to be on time at the venue. 2. It is compulsory to be in the “Team - Outfit” allotted by the management of UVA 3. It is compulsory that students should bring their entry pass. 4. Management’s Decisions will be final in case of any ambiguity related to the event. 5. Registration of participants for all events is online and is to be done by 25th April, 2011 6. The students should make arrangements for food on both the days. Water will be provided by UVA 7. People not forming the part of UVA are not allowed at the venue. If found strict action will be taken by the management. 8. Any kind of vehicles, crackers or materials which can be hazardous are not allowed at the venue.

No. of Participants - 6 No. of Substitutes - 2 NOTE : • Area for the treasure hunt will be online and also shall comprise in and around the Andheri Sports Complex. • Time span for the event will be 1 hour. • Treasure hunt comprises of various stages & in every stage clue for the next stage will be given to participants. • The team nearest to treasure after completion of time period will be awarded first in case no team is able to hunt the treasure. GENERAL RULES FOR EVENTS 11 – 14 • If all the players of the teams are not present, the game will begin with the players present even if it means one team has more players than the other. Players coming late can join as and when they come • One “change of player” allowed per team per game •

In case of “Tie”, the game will undergo another round

Any disconnection of the connection between match players due to System, Network, PC, and/or Power problems/issues

Intentional Disconnection: Upon judgment by the referee, any offending team will be charged with NEGATIVE points

Unintentional Disconnection: If the disconnection is deemed to be unintentional by the referee, the match will be restarted. If any team does not agree to a match restart, that team will lose by default.

If the match is disrupted due to unnecessary chatting, the team may be given a warning or lose by default at the referee's sole discretion

Upon discovery of any player committing any violations regarded as unfair play, that player will be disqualified from the tournament.

A team interfering with another team by intention of distracting them before OR during the game will constitute “unfair play”

Two warnings constitute being disqualified from the tournament.

Behind each word, a personality’s photograph is hidden. If the team manages to unscramble any one word correctly, that portion so the screen is deleted, thus making some part of the personality visible. The idea is to guess the personality in minimum no. of clues. Duration: 1 min per team Frame the question – The answer to a question is displayed on the screen. A team is supposed to guess the question. If it is not able to answer, it passes onto the next team. Duration: 15sec for a direct question, 5 secs. for passed question Visual – A video is shown on the screen. A question will be asked on that video. Each team will be representing a popular group (e.g. Mumbai Indians) The event is a press conference in which the team will be answering questions from the audience / other teams. The teams have to act in a contrast way to the popular group assigned to them. Each team has to answer min 5 questions The conference stops when there is a 1 min pause. Teams will be evaluated on the following parameters o Contrasting representation – Degree of contrast to the actual group o Humour – Humorous answers/act o Creativity – Out of the box thinking o Spontaneity – Thinking on the feet o Co-ordination – One person should speak/answer at a time The other 11 teams have a chance of earning points through questions. Each team will be given a chance to ask a question through rotation After 1 rotation, it will be an open house The teams will be awarded points for their questions on the following parameters o Humour – Questions that are humorous or gives a scope for humorous answers o Creativity – Innovative questions (beyond the obvious) A team may choose not to answer (no comments) any question. However, points will be deducted for the same. The evaluation will be done on each question. However, the top 5 answer scores will be considered for the final total.


24] JAM (JUST A MINUTE - BOYS / GIRLS)

He or she then comes up and speaks on the topic for 1min. 6 best participants are chosen for the next round. The students are selected on the basis of their ‘on the spot thinking’, verbal proficiency and oratory skills. 6 participants get eliminated in round 1. Round 2 6 participants come together in round 2. Each participant has to select one of the folded chits in front of them. He or she then comes up and speaks on the topic for 1min. 3 best participants are chosen for the final round. 3 participants get eliminated in round 2. Round 3 3 participants come together in round 3. Each participant has to select one of the folded chits in front of them. He or she then comes up and speaks on the topic for 1min.The winner is selected on the basis of their performance. NOTE : • • • • • • •

The participant will be given 60 seconds only. The participant’s speech should address the topic. Digression from the topic might result in deduction of the candidate’s total marks. The participant will be required to display proficiency at grammar. Grammatical mistakes will be considered while evaluating a participant. Words /utterances in any other language will have a negative impact on the score. Hesitation - a pause of more than five seconds will lead to the disqualification of the participant. Repetition of words or ideas will have a negative impact on the score. Judge’s decision will be final.


25] ZABARDAST PHEKU (SPIN - A – YARN – BOYS / GIRLS)

These chits hold a few lines (beginning of a story) . One of the team members then comes up and weaves a story around those lines and takes it forward till the moderator stops him/her. The teams will be judged on their creativity, storytelling skills, verbal proficiency and oratory skills. 6 teams get eliminated in round 1. Round 2 6 teams come together in round 2. Each team has to select one of the folded chits in front of them. These chits hold a few lines ( beginning of a story) . One of the team members then comes up and weaves a story around those lines and takes it forward till the moderator stops him/her. In this round, the teams will also be given a few words/topics/personalities(e.g. music/cricket/Obama) which they have to include in their story. 3 teams get eliminated in round 2. 26] BRICKS (LOGICAL PUZZLES – BOYS / GIRLS)

At the beginning, draws will be taken to decide which team is against whom. Every group (of 2 rival teams) will be given a puzzle to solve. They'll have to locate it. There will be no extra weightage for locating it. The team solving the puzzle correctly and in time will win and proceed to the next round. Time allotted will be 15 minutes. In case both are not able to solve it in 15 minutes, it will go to 'sudden death' round. It will be for 5 minutes and has to be solved in that time. If the teams cannot solve it even then, they both will get disqualified. In 2nd round, there will be 6 teams. These teams will be given a puzzle to solve and top 4 teams will be selected on the basis of time and accuracy. Time will be 10 minutes. Top 4 teams will have a semi-final playoff. 1st and 4th team will contest and 2nd & 3rd teams will contest. The winners will clash in finale. The losing teams will clash for 3rd position. 3rd position playoff will be like semifinal. But the finale will have 2 rounds - one in which the teams will solve a common puzzle in 5 minutes and second in which they will give each other a puzzle which will be pre-approved by us. The team which will finish all the things successfully, will win.

A team will be given 5,00,000 points which will work as money to invest in shares(equities only, no derivatives) and mutual funds. www.moneycontrol.com shall be the only source to decide and check on prices The entire investment product list should be submitted to MT UVA onyx team latest by Monday the 25th April before 3.30pm. Once list is submitted, no changes will be allowed. Price at which shares/MF will be bought will be opening price of shares/opening NAV of a mutual fund on 25th April. Price at which shares/MF will be sold will be closing price of shares/closing NAV of a mutual fund on 29th April. Profit/loss will be calculated as follows:

Profit/Loss = Closing price on Opening Price on th 29 April at which 25th April at which Shares/MF will be sold Shares/MF will be bought • Whatever profit/loss a team makes will added/subtracted to/from team’s final score on the eve of 1st May. So take your decision carefully. • Management decision will be final at any given point. Tips: Try to diversify your portfolio and reduce your risk. A team can take help of stock brokers/mutual fund advisors.

The core team shall comprise of not more than 3 participants. One participant shall be the political candidate, the other his/her Personal Assistant (P.A.) and the third participant shall be his/her Campaign Manager. Each political candidate shall be required to assume the role of a celebrity and accordingly determine his/her campaign speech and election manifesto. The celebrity shall be assigned to the respective teams during the CL/ACL meet. Each team shall be required to submit the name of the political party, its symbol and its election manifesto to the Onyx organizing committee, on or before Friday, 29th April, 2011. The teams shall not be allowed to use the names or symbols of any of the existing political parties. Any team found to be making any statements/comments, direct or indirect, pertaining to a particular religion, caste, creed, gender, colour or region, in its election manifesto, speech or at any point of time during the course of its campaign shall be disqualified on an immediate basis.

Controversial press releases pertaining to each of the political candidates shall be circulated among the Personal Assistants and Campaign Managers of each of the candidates, on 29th and 30th April, 2011. They shall be required to prepare a strategy defending their respective candidates against the controversies and at the same time attack the competitor candidates based on the controversies circulated about them. During the event on Sunday, 1st May, 2011, each of the candidates shall be provided with not more than 3 mns to deliver his/her speech. The speech shall be followed by a Press Conference for not more than 7 mns, whereby the judges of the event posing as journalists will be questioning the candidates based on the controversies circulated about them. The Personal Assistants and Campaign Managers of teams willing to attack the competing candidates shall be required to submit their questions to the Onyx organizing committee, latest by 8 pm, on Saturday, 30th April, 2011. The judges shall select a few of the questions submitted and shall pose them at the candidates depending upon the availability of time. The judges shall exercise complete discretion with regard to the questions to be asked to each candidate. The candidates shall be negatively marked in case of the use of any other language apart from Hindi during the course of their speech or the press conference. The teams shall be required to continue with their campaigning activities throughout the rest of the day, on 1st May, 2011, up till 6 p.m., without disturbing the flow of any of the events. The teams found to be making use of any material incentives to please the voters or any abusive language against their competitor candidates shall be disqualified on an immediate basis.


55] KISKE BOL (WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY – BOYS / GIRLS)

However, the teams shall have to enact the said situation with headphones being put up in their ears, with loud music being played. • The teams shall be allotted a maximum of 1 mn to strategize and a maximum of 3 mns to enact the situation. • The medium of communication for the teams shall be either English or Hindi or both, as the case may be. Round 2 • Each team shall be provided with a breaking news headline and the team members would be required to elaborate upon the same. One team member would be the news reader and the other team member would be the field correspondent, with the news reporter posing questions pertaining to the headline at the field correspondent and the field correspondent answering them. • The teams shall be allotted a maximum of 1 mn to strategize and a maximum of 2 mns to execute the news report. • The medium of communication for the teams shall be Hindi.


56] COMPASSION (COMMUNITY SERVICE – BOYS / GIRLS)

Each time shall comprise of not more than 10 participants. Each time shall appoint a Team Leader and inform the Onyx organizing committee about the same on or before Tuesday, 26th April, 2011. Each team shall be required to plan and execute a project/activity addressing any one social cause, as chosen by the team. The project/activity addressing a social cause shall be conducted for not more than one day, on or before Thursday, 28th April, 2011. The team shall be required to inform the Onyx organizing committee about the project/activity being undertaken by them, at least 24 Hrs before the same is initiated. The teams shall obtain the necessary permissions/approvals required for conducting the said social service project/activity. MT Educare or the Onyx organizing committee shall not render any support for the same or assume any responsibility in case of any adversity that might occur due to the absence of any permission/approval. The teams shall be advised to avoid undertaking projects/activities that involve any financial expenditure on the part of its members. The teams shall be required to submit a report containing details about the social service project/activity conducted by them, WITH PHOTOGRAPHS, to the Onyx organizing committee, on or before Friday, 29th April, 2011. The teams shall be judged on the basis of the impact that they have managed to create through their project/activity and its sustainability.


57] JUNG (THE BIG FIGHT – BOYS / GIRLS)

A subject of social relevance shall be debated by the teams, with six teams being in support and the other six being in opposition to the subject. The teams shall be informed about the subject and their respective stands during the CL/ACL meet. The event shall consist of two different rounds, with one team member participating in each round. The medium of communication for both the rounds shall be English. The teams shall be disqualified with immediate effect in case of the use of any abusive language or a loud tone of voice by its members.

Round 1 • One participant from each team shall be required to make an opening address presenting the stand of his/her team on the subject and elaborating on the team’s perspective on the subject and its reasoning for the same. • Each team shall be provided with a maximum of 3 mns for the opening address. Round 2 • The other team member (not participated in Round 1) shall be required to participate in Round 2, which shall be a moderated debate on the same subject among the teams. • The team members having participated in Round 1 shall not be allowed to speak during the course of Round 2. • The participants can make use of statements made by their competitor teams during Round 1 to attack them during Round 2. • Each participant shall seek prior permission from the moderator before making his argument. • The moderator shall reserve the right to prevent any participant from making an argument, at any point of time, as may be deemed appropriate by him. • The duration of the Round 2 shall not be more than 30 mns. • The moderator may decide to call off the debate before the completion of 30 mns. The decision of the moderator shall be final and binding for all the teams.
