Bakers Dolphin, based in Weston-super-Mare are taking holidaymakers from their door to Scotland, Northumbria, Cambridge, Cornwall and around 30 other destinations to spend Christmas in luxury this year. Sales & Marketing Director Amanda Harrington said: “We are experiencing unprecedented demand from people who want to get away for Christmas and New Year. After the restrictions over the past 18-months more families and friends wish to celebrate the festive season with a trip. “We have received bookings from people from Bristol right along the M5 corridor to Cornwall. There is no shortage of choice as we have been able to add 30 new tours to cope with the demand this year. “Our Gold Coach luxury tours are proving the most popular as people want to spend a bit more and have some luxury. “Bookings are strong for a wonderful seven-day holiday to Fort William that started on 22 December. 12
This includes a trip to Fort Augustus with spectacular views across Loch Ness, walks to the historic ruins of Old Inverlochy Castle, ballroom dancing, a delicious three-course dinner followed by Christmas Midnight Service, and a visit to Spean Bridge and the Commando Memorial. “The lockdowns were difficult for most people which perhaps explains why many wish to exercise their newfound freedom and travel around the UK this year. “We want to offer the best value holidays so there are no hidden costs, we guarantee absolutely no surcharges. History of the mince pie
By Peter Abraham
Christmas, food is the best food. I think that goes beyond my humble opinion and is in fact, FACT! It’s full of stodgy, warm, sugary, cosy goodness that’s incredibly bad for your body but tremendously good for your soul. My favourite Yuletide morsel has to be the humble mince pie. I never used to like them I’ll be honest. I did find them a bit too rich. But now I can’t get enough of them. (I blame the butcher in Marshfield). But where did it all begin for this sweet and savoury snack? During Stuart and Georgian times, in the UK mince pies where a status symbol. Rich aristocrats gorged on the delights and liked to show off their wealth by having an assortment of differently shaped pies to impress their noble friends. Having different pies meant that you where mdisgustingly rich and you could afford the best pastry cooks in the land.
Well, mince pies like Christmas puddings where originally filled with meat! Lamb, was the main contender rather than dried fruit, nuts and spices that you find in them today. Their shape comes from what bakers thought the manger looked like that Jesus slept in. (Don’t worry this isn’t a sermon I promise you!). The tops of the pies represented the swaddling clothing that he was wrapped in. Sometimes the more adventurous and skilled baker fashioned an edible effigy of the infant Christ to complete the design. 14
A custom from the Middle Ages says, that if you eat a mince pie every day from Christmas to Twelfth Night you will have happiness for the next year. I beg to differ. I argue that you will either end up with diabetes, incredibly fat or even dead! As always dear reader, everything in moderation. However, that rule usually goes out the window in my house during Christmas time. I think it’s the one time of year when we can dispense with the dietary platitudes and throw caution to the wind and enjoy ourselves. It’s only once a year so why not make it a good one?

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto,” is the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The all-new original film features the voice of Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel, an ordinary 15-year-old who’s struggling to find her place in her family. “Mirabel is a really funny, loving character who also deeply yearns for something more,” says Beatriz. “She’s also not afraid to stand up for what she knows is right—something I love and relate to very much.”

A centre set up to support new businesses has been launched at Bristol’s Central Library. The Business and Intellectual Property Centre (BIPC), officially opened by Mayor Marvin Rees, will help people from all walks of life to start and grow a small business with free resources, confidential one-to-one support, advice clinics and workshops. It is part of the British Library’s growing national network of over 100 regional and local library-based Business and IP Centres across the UK.
“We know that Bristol is full of people with great ideas, and we want to help turn those ideas into a reality.
Following an injection of funding last year to expand the network, Bristol City Council has been allocated almost £500,000 to establish a regional Business and IP Centre at Bristol Central Library, with three smaller local centres at branch libraries (Southmead, Junction 3 and Knowle library) to follow in 2022.
“I am really excited that Bristol had become a part of this network, and I cannot wait to see what businesses are created.”
The grant has funded specialist staff, building refurbishment and equipment, and access to thousands of pounds worth of specialised business and market-research resources, databases and reports.
•
Supported the creation of over 12,000 new businesses
•
Led to the creation of over 7,800 new jobs
Councillor Ellie King, Cabinet Member with • responsibility for libraries, said: “Business and IP Centres can open up the path to entrepreneurship for anyone with a business
Created businesses twice as likely to succeed beyond three years
20
“The centre will be working in partnership with local business leaders and entrepreneurs to provide the best possible source of information and support to help get a small business off the ground and allow it to flourish.
The BIPC network has a notably strong track record of supporting people from all walks of life to start, protect and grow a successful business. In just three years it has:
Consistently, over half of those who use a BIPC to set up a business are women and a third are from under-represented ethnic backgrounds – more than triple the national averages for business ownership in the UK. While each centre, including BIPC Bristol, is equipped with a core set of resources, such as up-to-date market research and business databases provided by the British Library, they are brought to life by a tailored and highly individual programme of events, workshops and one-to-ones, delivered in collaboration with local business leaders, role model entrepreneurs and community partners. Liz Jolly, Chief Librarian at the British Library, says: “At their heart, libraries are trusted spaces with professional staff who have a mission to connect people with information. From Glasgow to Brighton, our BIPC Network harnesses the power of libraries, bringing in expertise from the local community to help people from all walks of life turn an idea into a successful business.
“We’re delighted to mark this next chapter in the network’s journey, growing from 14 to over 100 new regional and local centres across England, with a longer term ambition to expand across the UK. Our mission is to put business support in every library, but we’re also learning lessons from the past year, by making sure more and more of our business and IP workshops, events and 1-1s are open to everyone online.”

Bristol hotel unveils glittering new ballroom A Bristol hotel has unveiled its glittering new ballroom following a £100,000 refurbishment and extension. The project means the DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre has become only the third residential venue in the city to be able to accommodate more than 300 delegates for a conference. The completion of the work, which took around five weeks, was marked by a visit from Mrs Peaches Golding OBE CStJ, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Bristol, who gave her seal of approval to the new ballroom. Mrs Golding said: “The splendid accommodation provided by the new ballroom will attract commercial, tourist and social use from the city and beyond. “It’s ideally situated in the heart of the city but within easy reach of Bristol Temple Meads railway station, Bristol International Airport and commuters using the M4 and M5 motorways.
The hotel’s General Manager, Imran Ali, said: “The new ballroom ended up a little bigger than we originally expected, as other opportunities for creating some more room emerged as the work started. “We now have an amazing facility that can accommodate around 340 people in cabaret-style and can seat 450 guests theatre-style. “The refurbishment project went very well and was actually completed slightly ahead of schedule. “We’ve already hosted our first wedding and a successful networking event for Redcliffe and Temple BID and received some very positive feedback about our refurbishments. “After the lockdowns and challenges posed by the pandemic, a well-defined path to recovery lies ahead, and we’re building our business back stronger than ever. “We’re very proud of our new facilities which we believe will be of great benefit to Bristol.”
“I am thrilled that the ownership team has made this investment in our city, as the hotel is good for Bristol and Bristol is good for DoubleTree by Hilton.
As well as increasing the capacity of the room, windows were added to provide natural daylight, and energy-efficient IT and electrical upgrades were added.
“Now conferences and groups of more than 300 people and more have another premium-quality venue to meet their dining and meeting needs, as well as their IT and accommodation requirements.”
“We know that the city receives a good volume of enquiries for venues with the kind of capacities that we are now able to accommodate.
22
“We’ve had an extremely busy past few months, which has been great, but the corporate business has been softer so far. “But as that starts to pick up again postpandemic, this significant investment in our hotel will put us in the perfect position to be able to attract that corporate business.” The 206-bedroom DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre is managed by Focus Hotels Management. Lynn Hood, Chief Operating Officer of Focus Hotels, said: “Like many businesses in the hospitality sector, the past 18 months has been very challenging. “But since the easing of lockdown restrictions, we’ve been enjoying a very positive recovery in the conference market, which has been extremely encouraging, as this makes a significant contribution to the financial stability of hotels.
“This investment at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre further reinforces the growing confidence in the sector and is another positive indication that we are on the road to recovery. “The new ballroom is not only a huge asset to the hotel but will also benefit the whole city because of the kind of events it will now be able to host.”

We are currently delivering our 2021 survey to thousands of households across Brislington West. Your views really matter to us. We stood to be your local councillors because we want to fight for the issues that matter most to you. Please spend a few minutes completing the survey and returning it using the free post address and envelope supplied. If you prefer, you can complete the survey online: www. bristollibdems.org/residents-survey-BRW
The planning application to develop Flowers Hill for housing is due to be heard at planning committee next month. The scheme, on the old DWP site, will deliver 160 residential units, safeguard the listed War Ro oms - hopefully for future community use and provide a pedestrian access link from Bath Road to Hungerford Road. More details on the Flowers Hill Facebook group we set up last year: https://www.facebook.com/ groups/487689002398624/
Brislington War Memorial update: We have now removed the knitted poppies from the war memorial and will be storing them safely in order to be used again next year. We have also tied several poppy wreaths to the railings to prevent them from blowing away. Supported bus consultation: Several local bus routes are supported by the West of England Combined Authority, which provides money to make them viable. These include the 513, 514 and Brislington Park and Ride service. Local residents may be interested in completing a WECA consultation on the future of these supported routes. The consultation closes on 28th November: https://consultation.westofengland-ca.gov.uk/ infrastructure/west-of-england-supported-busservices-survey/ 24
Photography exhibition: We heartily recommend the Food Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Royal Photographic Society at the Paintworks. This free exhibition runs until 12 December and features short videos and amazing photographs from around the world. Grants to boost vacant commercial property use in Bristol: A new grant scheme offering businesses and organisations up to £10,000 to bring vacant buildings back into permanent or temporary use has been launched as part of fresh support for Bristol’s economic recovery.
The £1.3 million initiative, funded by the city council, will focus on encouraging new types of businesses, including creative and cultural activities, services and community uses into the city centre and high streets across Bristol. Open to applications from new or expanding small or micro-sized businesses, charities, community, voluntary or social enterprises, the scheme aims to offer support to boost customer footfall, create new jobs and improve the sustainability of businesses. The vacant commercial property grant scheme forms part of the wider City Centre and High Streets Recovery and Renewal programme, which has received funding from the West of England Combined Authority’s Love our High Street project. To apply for a grant, the business or organisation must be looking to lease or rent currently vacant commercial premises located within Bristol city centre or one of the 47 high streets, with consideration given to properties located just outside these areas as long as they are in very close proximity to them. The grant can be used to cover a wide range of activity from building works, improvements and modifications to new equipment, shop fittings and display units. Applicants will be encouraged to demonstrate how their business will benefit the high street and Bristol citizens, by adding diversity to the area, employing local people or people from under-represented groups, adopting the real Living Wage, improving disabled access and facilities and demonstrating a clear commitment to sustainability through choice of materials, transport and energy. Visit the council’s Vacant Commercial Property Grant page on the website for further information, to download the full guidance notes and to apply. The council will be holding a series of webinars to talk through the vacant commercial property grant scheme. Visit the webpage or sign up to the business newsletter to find dates: www.bristol.gov.uk/businessnewsletter. Youth Zone consultation: The consultation on the proposed South Bristol Youth Zone is now open and will run until Sunday 2 January 2022. The council is keen to hear what you think about the proposals.
The proposed South Bristol Youth Zone is a collaboration with delivery partners OnSide, and local charity and provider, Youth Moves. Youth Zones can be found across the UK and are affordable, high quality spaces for children and young people aged 8 to 19, or under 25 for those with a special educational needs and disability (SEND). An initial public engagement from 3 September to 17 October 2021 demonstrated strong support for the goals of the Youth Zone in Bristol. Following this engagement, the council is now asking for feedback on the proposed South Bristol Youth Zone. The responses from the consultation, the pre-planning application consultation, and technical work will be included in a Full Business Case (The FBC) in spring 2022. You can find out more about the South Bristol Youth Zone and tell us what you think here: http:// www.bristol.gov.uk/youthzoneconsultation Hundreds of Brislington West residents have signed up to receive our monthly newsletter via email. Meals on wheels to go electric!
Bristol’s meals on wheels team has agreed a deal that will see electric vehicles replace older diesel vans on the daily rounds. The service provides over 100,000 lunchtime meals a year and the drivers also check in on vulnerable residents to ensure they have what they need. Councillor Helen Holland, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Integrated Care System, said: “We are delighted to welcome these new vehicles into our fleet to continue the service’s vital work of supporting vulnerable residents, safe in the knowledge they’re also doing their bit for the climate. Tackling the twin challenges of climate and ecological emergencies means everyone playing their part which is why services across the council are scrutinising every aspect of their work to find ways in which they can reduce their carbon footprint. “For several years we have wanted to upgrade to electric vans but until relatively recently the technology had not been available to be confident in what was out there. We know that battery life is a key factor in switching to electric vehicles, but in the case of these vans, the battery also needs to power ovens to keep meals warm, and a refrigeration unit to keep cold and frozen foods fresh. “I applaud the efforts of the Community Meals team and colleagues in Fleet Services for their work to identify the technology and negotiate the necessary deal to ensure these specialist efficient vehicles are also equipped with ovens powered by electricity for the first time.” 26
The new vehicles will cover routes across Central Bristol and will join the Community Meals service fleet in the coming few weeks. As charging infrastructure improves, the number of electric vehicles delivering community meals will increase. The new meals on wheels fleet will give a considerable saving in nitrogen oxide emissions, a contributor to air pollution from the burning of fuels in vehicle engines, and therefore help improve air quality within our city. Councillor Nicola Beech, Cabinet Member for Climate, Ecology, Waste and Energy, said: “The introduction of these new electric vehicles is another step for the council to meet its climate commitments and follows our recent decisions to expand our heat networks, retrofit homes with energy and heat saving measures and investing in renewable energy supplies. As well as working in partnership with others in the city we are looking internally across our organisations to identify the measures we need to take that will contribute towards developing a carbon neutral, climate resilient Bristol by 2030.” To find out more about Bristol Community Meals and arrange a hot meal delivery for you or someone you know, visit Bristol Community Meals webpage, call 0117 903 1520 or 0117 903 1522 Monday to Sunday 9am to 3pm, or email community.meals@bristol. gov.uk

Child literacy campaign takes to the high street A literacy campaign aimed at improving the language skills of under five-year-olds has taken to the high street. The Poetry Basket project is an exciting initiative launched late last year by the early years team at North Somerset Council in partnership with the scheme’s creators, MakeBelieveArts.
The poems were initially shared with nurseries and children’s centres, where they were well received. The next stage is to get the project out into the community and make the poems visible to more people. The Sovereign Centre in Weston is leading the way by displaying poems around the building and children from Little Angels nursery visited last week.

Further funding keeps Youth Club's Wheels turning
Sovereign and Clarion housing associations have awarded Young Bristol £10k to engage with young people in Brislington
Sovereign Housing Association has expanded funding for the Young Bristol ‘Youth Club on Wheels’, to deliver their ‘Community Ambassador Programmes’ (CAP) to a new housing development in Brislington, Bristol. The housing association awarded an additional £5,000 through the #iWillFund to support CAP, with Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of the Clarion Housing Group matching this with a further £5,000. Young Bristol has worked in partnership with Sovereign and Clarion Futures since June 2020, delivering Community Ambassadors and Mini Community Ambassadors Programmes in communities in South Bristol. The new Brislington-based Community Ambassadors programme, which launched on 18 October, will see Young Bristol’s Youth Club on Wheels work with young people aged 11 – 25 and their families over the next 12 months at the Lynwood Park development. The programme is designed to build positive links between young people and residents, support young people to organise meaningful social action projects, and to enable youth voices to speak up on the topics that really matter to them. Lucy Saunders, Young Bristol’s Development and Fundraising Manager, said: “Despite the challenges and restrictions of the pandemic over the last year, initial programmes had a huge positive influence on the young people that were supported in Whitchurch, Hengrove and Brislington, with 42 young people developing and delivering social action projects to make a difference in their local communities. 30
“These included litter-picking, planting community beds on their housing estates, tidying up street signs to improve the look of their area, and creating tokens of goodwill to deliver to elderly members during lockdown.” Shea Stew, Youth Club on Wheels Provision Lead said: "I can safely say that I am really excited about the new Community Ambassadors Programme at Lynwood Park. At our first face-to-face session we got to site and engaged with a group of lovely young people straight away. They gave us ideas about all the things they would like to do in the area, and they were like sponges – wanting to learn and engage, it was fantastic! You know a project is going to be awesome when the young people lead the initial ideas.” Daisy Mummery, Community Development Officer, Sovereign said: “It’s great that the scheme is running for another year, at Lynwood Park this time, where many people live in Sovereign homes. “After the success of last year, we know that leading on a social action project gives a positive goal for young people to aim for, encourages young people to take responsibility for their actions, and acknowledges the important role they play in community life. I’m really looking forward to seeing the outcomes of this new programme over the next 12 months.“ You can find out more about our Youth Club on Wheels provision in and around Bristol.

New homes will soon need to have EV charging points by law From next year, the prime minister has announced homes and buildings in England will be required by law to install electric vehicle charging points. The government said the move will see up to 145,000 charging points installed across the country each year.
It will be the young people of today, who can see the consequences of climate change and will be demanding better from us." But Labour said the announcement does not address the "appalling" geographical divide in available charging points.
New-build supermarkets, workplaces and buildings undergoing major renovations will also come under the new law.
"London and the South East have more public car charging points than the rest of England and Wales combined. Yet there is nothing here to help address this.
The move comes as England aims to switch to electric cars, with new petrol and diesel cars sales banned from 2030.
"Nor is there help so lower and middle income families can afford electric vehicles or the investment required to build the gigafactories we need," Labour said.
Announcing the new laws at the Confederation of British Industry's conference on Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the United Kingdom was going to "radically" change it\s cars, trucks, buses and other modes of transport. "The force driving that change won't be government, it won't even be business...it will be the consumer.
34
The government said the new laws will "make it as easy as refuelling a petrol or diesel car today". It said "simpler ways to pay" to charge vehicles through contactless payments would also be introduced at "all new fast and rapid charge points".
We currently has about 25,000 charging points in the UK, but the Competition and Markets Authority has said it could need 10 times as many before 2030. The switch to electric vehicles is part of the UK's strategy to hit climate targets, with cars and taxis accounting for 16% of UK emissions in 2019. Several major car manufacturers, such as Jaguar and Volvo plan to go all electric from 2025 and 2030 and Ford said in an online statement all vehicles sold in Europe will be electric by 2030. However, there was four of the world's biggest carmakers, Volkswagen, Toyota, Renault-Nissan and Hyundai-Kia failed to sign a COP 26 summit pledge to only sell zero emissions cars and vans by 2035. UK electric car sales are growing, with about 10% of cars sold in 2020 being electric, up from 2.5% in 2018. But concerns have been raised about the lack of charging infrastructure. The Policy Exchange think tank has warned the rollout of charging points has fallen behind and said there is a risk of “charging blackspots” in small towns and rural areas unless it speeds up.
MPs on the Transport Select Committee have also said online that people must be protected from excessive pricing for public electric car charging, with home charging being much cheaper. Mike Childs, Friends of the Earth’s head of policy, welcomed the government’s announcement, adding that electric vehicles had a “significant role to play in building a zero-carbon future”. “New housing should also include secure cycle storage and access to high quality public transport, to provide real alternatives to driving and help cut congestion,” Mr Childs added. Along with its announcement on charging points, the government also confirmed almost £10m will fund a new hydrogen project at the UK’s largest onshore windfarm near Glasgow. The cash injection will help the Whitelee green hydrogen project develop the UK’s largest electrolyser, a system which converts water into hydrogen gas as a way to store energy and supply local transport providers with zero-carbon fuel.

Westerleigh Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 35 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully-landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect. Each of Westerleigh Group’s crematoria gets to choose which local organisations to donate money to from its metal recycling scheme. Shaun Chapman-Young, Site Manager of Westerleigh Cemetery & Crematorium, said: “The loss of any loved one is a difficult and distressing time for those they leave behind, but the loss of a baby can be particularly heart-breaking. “Organisations like Bristol Sands do vital work to support those families and it is an honour for us to be able to provide the charity with this donation.”
38
“No one but another bereaved parent can truly understand the feelings of loss and despair, which is why the support we offer is so important to all the bereaved parents who we talk to and meet. “We provide emotional support, remembrance events and memory making events as well as funding training for hospitals and specific projects such as refurbishments of rooms used by bereaved parents. “Once again, many thanks for your donation which will help us continue to support anyone who needs us following the loss of a baby.” Shaun added: “We welcome invitations for support from any local charities or organisations which work to support our communities in some way. “Organisations which would benefit from a donation from our metal recycling fund should contact me, tell me about themselves and what they do, and we will consider their application.” Any charity which would like to be considered for a donation should send an email to Shaun. Your Garden In December Most gardeners tend to think that everything in the garden is dormant in December. While this does tend to be the case there are still crops, plants and wildlife to protect from any winter frosts. The lawn will need to be kept clear of any remaining leaves and patio containers will need raising to avoid them sitting in the wet. The beginning of the month, however, will probably be dedicated to decorating the Christmas tree. For many people this is an essential part of their festive traditions and there’s nothing quite like a real Christmas tree to decorate a room and fill the home with that nostalgic seasonal aroma...
CHOOSING A CHRISTMAS TREE There are several types of Christmas tree to choose from and if you’ve never had one before it can be hard to decide which will be best. Nordmann Fir - this is the top choice for real indoor Christmas trees and has excellent needle retention. The lush, glossy, rich green needles are soft and dense making it easy to decorate and the strong branches will support your lights and decorations to create a stunning display. They quite often have a wide base, making a perfect place to hide presents! 40
Norway Spruce - the ‘traditional’ Christmas tree. Strong branches make for easy decorating, although the needles can tend to be fairly sharp. If you are choosing this tree it is best kept outside for as long as possible before bringing it into a cool room to help with needle retention. Potted/pot Grown Trees Most people buy cut Christmas trees, but it is possible to buy ‘potted’ or ‘pot grown’ trees. If you want to keep your tree after Christmas to pot on or plant in the garden always ask for a pot-grown tree. Potted Christmas trees have usually been grown in the ground and then dug up and potted with a few roots.
LOOKING GOOD THIS MONTH.. MAHONIA They generally won’t last much longer than a well cared for cut tree, and usually won’t establish in the garden afterwards. Pot grown trees have been grown in the pot and so many are more likely to be successful for growing on from year to year.
Why should you plant them? Striking winter foliage, fragrant lily-of-thevalley aroma and beautiful yellow blooms - it’s not difficult to see why the Mahonia is such a well-respected addition to a winter garden. How should you plant them? Mahonia are very low maintenance shrubs but a small amount of attention will ensure that they perform to the best of their abilities - an annual prune is sufficient to keep them in check. By nature they are adapted to woodland conditions so plant in partial to full shade however they will grow well in a variety of soil conditions including clay, chalk and even sand.

Hundreds of elderly people in the Somerset area are forced to choose between heating and eating every single winter. This winter The Somerset Community Foundations Surviving Winter Project will see even more pensioners facing the choice of heating or eating as energy prices rise. And in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, this winter will continue to be difficult and worrying for many of our older neighbours. Many will need to stay at home to keep themselves safe, will find themselves cut off from family and friends, and will face even higher costs to heat their homes this year. With your help, the foundation can help them stay warm, safe and well. If you can afford to, please donate some or all of your winter fuel payment to help support those living in fuel poverty here.
Joyce’s story At 81, Joyce dreads every winter and goes without food just to make sure she’s able to keep her home heated. She told us how a Surviving Winter grant made such a difference last year and meant she didn’t need to choose between food in her cupboards or a warm home. “Every winter I struggle to pay the increased heating bills. I dread winter. I have poor circulation, brought on by Raynaud’s Disease, and it’s just so difficult to get warm. My fingers and toes are never warm, even in the summer. In the winter they go nearly black with the cold. I need to make sure my little two-bedroom bungalow is heated in the winter, so I go without other things instead. I won’t go out, or I cut down on food. I’ll go to the supermarket in the evenings when I know the food is sometimes reduced.
Your gift will help provide:
The money I got from the Surviving Winter grant stopped all my worry last year. It was such a great help and for me it meant a winter without stress for once. It meant I didn’t have to go without food and I could afford to pay my heating bill.”
