Arnos Vale Cemetery is holding its annual Remembrance ceremony at the Great War Memorial at Soldiers' Corner on Friday 11th November. The ceremony will include readings from local organisations and school children, prayers for the fallen, and wreath laying. The ceremony will begin at 10.50am. A two minutes silence will be held at 11am sharp. Local residents may also be interested to know that there are 18 war graves in St Mary Redcliffe Cemetery opposite. We are currently working with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to install signage by the entrance. For quite some time, the wooden fencing that runs alongside the Brislington Brook between Water Lane and Tesco has been badly damaged. Last week we were able to meet up with Tesco management to discuss the issue. Tesco have promised to come up with a more robust design, that will hopefully stand the test of time. We’ll update you when we have more news.

WELCOMING SPACES ARE NOW OPEN:

Opportunities range from befriending and peer support, cooking, driving and helping at Welcoming Spaces. For advice and guidance on cost of living, visit the council’s new cost of living support hub here: https://www.bristol.gov.uk/ residents/people-and-communities/ cost-of-living-support?tab=welcomingspaces Wyevale Enforcement update: Time is running out to have your say on the planning appeal at Wyevale. Earlier in the year, Bristol City Council issued 4 Planning Enforcement Notices against the owners of the former Wyevale Garden Centre site on the A4 Bath Road in Brislington West as a result of unauthorised and inappropriate development on Greenbelt land. Predictably, the owners decided to appeal the enforcement notices and so the issue will now be decided by the government’s Planning Inspectorate. You now have the opportunity to make representations. You can submit your views online using the Appeals Casework Portal: Here

The first of Bristol's Welcoming Spaces are now open. These are spaces people can go to during the winter months for support and warmth. Each venue will be responding to community priorities which means what happens in each space will vary, but is likely to include Wi-Fi, access, electrical charging points, social activities and community meals. There will also be support and practical advice provided by city-wide organisations. More information about Welcoming Spaces and where to find your nearest one is available here: https://www.bristol. gov.uk/residents/people-and-communities/cost-of-living-support?tab=welcomingspaces More spaces will be added over the coming weeks. If you’d like to make a difference in our community during the cost of living crisis and you have some time to spare, there are also a range of volunteering opportunities available through Can Do Bristol: https:// candobristol.co.uk You can also email your submission to: teame3@planninginspectorate.gov.uk Any views must be submitted by 15 November 2022.
