A VITAL KEY ROUTE TO BRISTOL WILL BE CLOSED OVERNIGHT FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS
A series of nighttime closures on the A370 Long Ashton dual carriageway will take place for the next two weeks. These drastic alterations are due to current roadworks which have already created significant congestion between Backwell and Ashton Gate. The road will be closed off between its Flax Bourton and Park and Ride exits, requiring motorists to use an alternative route through Long Ashton village. Be sure to plan your journey ahead if you expect to travel in that area during those times.
The Long Ashton bypass is the first in North Somerset to be part of a major plan to improve bus services across the region. North Somerset Council works alongside the four weeks of road work begins next month on one of the main roads into Bristol.

It is the first work to be carried out as part of a major program to improve bus service across the region under what is known as a BSIP (Bus Service Improvement Plan).
The main A370 road will be renewed and a new bus lane will be created at junctions on the north side to Bristol. This will replace the current “high occupancy lane” which encouraged car sharing and when the work is complete the Long Ashton bypass will have only one lane towards the city, with cameras being set up to capture any motorist entering the bus lane.
