DIRECT SELLING IS AN AMERICAN SUCCESS STORY. BE A PART OF SHAPING OUR STORY’S FUTURE. DSA Annual Meeting 2017 will be filled with education and inspiration, as well as the chance to gather with friends and strengthen the relationships that will continue to help DSA create a more supportive world for: • The entrepreneurs whose ideas lead them to start the direct selling companies that create the exciting, innovative products that capture market share from long-time brands; • The individual field members who, once inspired by the vast range of direct selling products, choose to engage in the micro-entrepreneurship opportunity created by DSA member companies, and are subsequently transformed into brand ambassadors; and, • The consumers who time and again choose to buy the products produced by DSA member companies because they enjoy and value the relationships built by engaging with the brand ambassadors who have made them loyal customers through direct selling’s unique breed of social selling.

Dear Colleagues, On behalf of DSA and the Annual Meeting Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in our 2017 Annual Meeting in beautiful Orlando, Florida on June 4-6. We will celebrate our amazing industry, one that – each and every day – helps people improve their lives, and the lives of those around them. We will learn together; have meaningful conversations; inspire one another; and plan our bright future with all of the determination and excitement that it deserves. I firmly believe that the direct selling success story is unique among all others, and while we’re in Orlando, we will turn a spotlight on some of the people, companies, and partners who make that true. Whether it’s their product innovation, brand leadership, or unique way of building up the spirit and success of others, we will share their stories – first, amongst ourselves, and then to the broader world. Together, we will define the conversation about our channel in the marketplace, focusing on the trusted relationships that we build and sustain with consumers. All of you are stars in this industry’s success story. And, it is because of you that—time and again—DSA can advance its work of protecting the direct selling opportunity and advocating for a more supportive world in which independent contractors and entrepreneurs can thrive. I look forward to seeing you in Orlando and being by your side as, together, we shape the next chapter of direct selling’s story. It’s going to be the most riveting one yet!

—JOHN PARKER

GENERAL SESSIONS GENERAL SESSION 1 WIRED FOR JOY: HOW TO FIND YOUR JOY SPOT Nine Ways to Enhance Wellbeing, Increase Sales & Boost Productivity AMANDA GORE, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, THE JOY PROJECT You were born with the capacity for joy! Science shows us that by the time you were seven, your pure ‘operating system’ of love and joy was infected with viruses, malware, apps and other people’s programs! Joy at work boosts sales by 37%, increases productivity 31%, reduces errors 18% and boosts chances of promotion 40%. Joy matters! Your brain can be rewired for joy. This session teaches you how. Oh yes – and how to stop stress killing you! And how to find your joy spot!! It’s aimed at helping you feel good about yourself – which is the essence of wellness and changes the way you interact with everyone else. It’s great for energizing the whole group, de-stressing and reframing the way individuals view change. This session will have you rolling around laughing while you learn about the importance of ‘the joy spot’ – the place where neuroscience, epigenetics, emotional intelligence and positive psychology intersect! Amanda will cover the latest new science of stress – which will not only show you how to reduce the impact of stress, but also how to change your reactions to it permanently!

GENERAL SESSIONS GENERAL SESSION 3 WHY THINGS CATCH ON JONAH BERGER, PROFESSOR OF MARKETING, THE WHARTON SCHOOL, UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA Word of mouth is 10 times as effective as traditional advertising, but why do people talk about and share certain things rather than others? Why do some products catch on, some ideas diffuse and some online content go viral? Many of us have wondered why certain stories get shared, brands get more word of mouth, or videos go viral. Wharton professor Jonah Berger has spent the last decade answering these questions. This talk will reveal the secret science behind word-of-mouth and social transmission. Discover how six basic principles drive all sorts of things to become contagious, from consumer products and policy initiatives to services and ideas within organizations. Berger will also detail how research from a variety of disciplines – business, psychology, and social science – can help you harness the influences that drive individual choice.
