SCHLOSS GOBELSBURG

Max Weiler, Hans Staudacher, Valentin Oman, Peter Krawagna, Reimo Wukounig, Meina Schellander, and Kiki Kogelnik were among the first artists to support what was at the time a bold initiative.

There were many fascinating projects to follow. In 1995, after a series of guest appearances at venues such as Schloss Reifnitz on Lake Worth and the Hollenburg Castle in Rosental valley, the picturesque Ebenau Castle with its ever-changing sculpture garden became a unique setting for art. This delightful location has set the stage for many artistic projects, and continues to do so today. Over the years, the space has also become an exciting experimental environment for artist Carolin Walker, who was involved in her mother’s creative activities from a very young age, and has since organized her own themed exhibitions in the space. Apart from the Renaissance castle in Ebenau, there is also the historic Alter Pfarrhof in Saak, arranged and maintained by Judith Walker (a few minutes’ walk from the Museum of the Nötsch Circle), as well as a temporary art space in Klagenfurt, locations in which art can unfold in diverse contexts, and where art and culture enthusiasts are welcome to visit by appointment. n

IT WAS THERE, WELL AWAY FROM ESTABLISHED ART VENUES, THAT ART ENTHUSIAST JUDITH WALKER TOGETHER WITH HUSBAND ERICH STAGED HER FIRST EXHIBITIONS, MORE OR LESS UNDER THE OPEN SKY. MAX WEILER, HANS STAUDACHER, VALENTIN OMAN, PETER KRAWAGNA, REIMO WUKOUNIG, MEINA SCHELLANDER, PAUL FLORA AND KIKI KOGELNIK – A BRIEF SELECTION - WERE AMONG THE FIRST ARTISTS TO SUPPORT WHAT WAS AT THE TIME A BOLD INITIATIVE.
