NIGERIA .......................
THIS IS AKIM. Akim was first introduced to WDA in 2018, when WDA's Director of International Ministries, Nate Harkness, led several trainings with ECWA (Evangelical Church Winning All, previously Evangelical Church of West Africa) in Nigeria. Akim was chosen by ECWA to become a trainer of trainers. In January 2019, Akim attended a WDA Leadership Conference with 160 other Nigerian pastors focused on becoming a disciple-building leader and making disciples who disciple. 6,000 copies of Disciple Building: A Biblical Framework and Cornerstone discipleship materials were printed for use throughout the country. Akim joined the first-ever long-distance cohort group using WDA's online Leadership Institute platform, including 9 other students from 5 countries. After 9 months, Akim graduated from the "Developing New Leaders" course and created a Nigerian leadership school utilizing the Leadership Institute resources. Akim is now developing mature disciple-building leaders throughout Nigeria and officially joined WDA staff in April 2020.

Today I am another step closer on a journey that began in January 2019. Al, my best friend and husband of 47 years, fell in July of 2018 and went home to his Savior thirteen days later. That day, my life changed forever. I have lived by faith for forty-five years, and I have learned when God closes one door He always opens another. I can say this because God started me on a new path that July. After years in ministry together, Al and I had seen God’s provision for our family’s every need; sometimes in miraculous ways. In January 2019, I joined a Restoring Your Heart group at my church in North Carolina. The group was facilitated by my dear friend, Jackie. You see, God provided me with a map and companions for this journey. My RYH group was another stop along the way. All of us that participated in that first group agree that it was life changing. As I worked my way through the grief from the death of my husband, I began to realize that there were other experiences from my childhood, teen years, and an adult that I had never “really” grieved and let go of. I was able to share things with the women in my RYH group that I had never told another living person. What liberation and peace that brought. As I continued on this journey, God began to speak with me about a new direction He had for my life. At 72, I wish the opportunity for RYH had found me thirty or forty years earlier! I live in the beautiful Appalachian mountains of western North Carolina. Although the setting demonstrates God’s creation at its best, there is a dark side to my community - alcohol and opioid addictions, and domestic violence continue to ravage Clay County. Even some of the children in the Christian school where I teach would rather stay at school than go home. Some of them are unsure what house they will be spending the night in. It breaks my heart, and I have come to realize my journey to these mountains was not a retirement plan, but rather an opportunity to help people dealing with pain and grief, to get a new beginning through Jesus Christ and Restoring Your Heart. .................................................................. To that end, I attended an RYH Ambassador Retreat last October with some of the most awesome women I have ever had the privilege to meet. Jackie and I are going to visit churches in our community to share with them that 80% of people are struggling because of unaddressed emotional issues. We’ll share what RYH has done in our lives and what it can do for them. And we are going to co-lead new groups in our community wherever God leads us. This week, I begin my RYH facilitator training and am excited about this next step along the road. I will be 73 this year and my journey is still in front of me, so I will continue on down the road. Thank you, Worldwide Discipleship Association, for being part of the road map to bringing healing to the nations. 10

A Million For A Million 1M DOLLARS 1M DISCIPLES WHO DISCIPLE WDA'S GLOBAL VISION IS TO MAKE 1 MILLION DISCIPLES WHO DISCIPLE BY 2024.
WDA's ministry has been FLOURISHING through exponential growth of disciple-building leaders and disciples made since we began tracking global impact data in 2015. As our discipleship impacts continued to rise, we realized that an infusion of funds to our operating and ministry budget was required to not only sustain, but grow the continued level of output through greater investment in technological advances and in-country personnel. So in November 2019, we launched the A MILLION for A MILLION initiative. This initiative will help to lower WDA's overall footprint and expenditures, over time, while increasing duplication of leaders and disciples who make disciples. Nov - Dec 2019
