YEAR OF ART
GET A GLIMPSE OF WHAT WILL BE A PHENOMENAL YEAR OF ART IN DUPAGE COUNTY.
Andy Warhol once said, “the idea is not to live forever; it is to create something that will.”

June 3-September 10, 2023
Cleve Carney Museum of Art, McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage
It is with this quote in mind that DuPage is excited for the exhibit coming to the Cleve Carney Museum of Art. It will include more than 200 original works and 150 original photographs by Warhol. Immersive elements include a Studio 54 Experience, a Kids Pop Art Print Factory, and a Central Park-inspired outdoor café. For additional details, see page 24.
Many DuPage businesses are offering Warhol experiences. Get in touch with your creative side and make yourself a Warhol-inspired itinerary. Find out more at www.discoverdupage.com/warhol.
OF THE EARTH
May 2023-Spring 2025
The Morton Arboretum
Five large-scale sculptures by Polish American artist Olga Ziemska will be created exclusively for a new exhibition at The Morton Arboretum, Of the Earth. In Polish, Ziemska means “of the earth.” Her work will be created from reclaimed tree branches and other natural materials gathered from the Arboretum’s 1,700 acres — where she found inspiration among the tree-filled landscapes reminiscent of her native Poland. Ziemska said her aim is to remind people, “Everything in life is derived from the same basic elements that form everything in nature, including ourselves. There is no separation.”
PICASSO: FIFTY YEARS LATER
September 9, 2023-January 7, 2024
Elmhurst Art Museum
Visitors to the Elmhurst Art Museum will be immersed in the work of Pablo Picasso as part of the worldwide exhibitions marking the 50th anniversary of the famed artist's death. With multiple galleries of his work, the show will provide context for his lasting influence and legacy. The three-part exhibition will include an introduction with works by Picasso and his peers, a gallery focused on the artistic process of Picasso’s late printmaking work, and a response by contemporary figurative artists today.

CANTIGNY PARK
Brimming with history, beauty, and serenity, the 500-acre former estate of Chicago Tribune editor and publisher Colonel Robert R. McCormick offers something for all ages. McCormick named the estate after a small village in France, site of the Battle of Cantigny during World War I, where he commanded an artillery unit for the U.S. Army’s First Division. Cantigny’s renowned First Division Museum traces the history of the “Big Red One” and pays tribute to all military veterans. Cantigny’s other main attraction is the vibrant display gardens and scenic grounds, which include a vast picnic area and the Red Oaks Farm playground. The park is easily navigated on wide, accessible pathways. Throughout the year, Cantigny offers a wide range of programming, including concerts, lectures, and festivals.

BROOKFIELD ZOO
Member of the Chicago Zoological Society
As one of the world’s most dedicated zoological institutions, Brookfield Zoo stays true to its mission of “inspiring conservation leadership by connecting people with wildlife and nature.” Not only do they offer a wide variety of education opportunities and animal encounters for the public, but they are also at the forefront of animal research and conservation.
COSLEY ZOO
If you’re looking for a zoo on a smaller scale, this animal oasis is the perfect place! This zoo exclusively features native animals in domestic environments. From small birds and critters, to horses, goats, and cows, Cosley Zoo aims to create connections and empathy with animals all around us while teaching the community about animal conservation.
DANADA EQUESTRIAN CENTER
White picket fences, a charming mansion, and a legend in horse history beckon you to explore these graceful grounds. The name is a combination of the original owners Dan and Ada Rice, who established the farm in 1928. In 1980, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County purchased the land to restore and transform Danada into what it is today. The Ada L. Rice stables are still in regular use today and frequently visited and enjoyed by riders and horse lovers from near and far.
FERMILAB NATURAL AREAS
As part of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, this is one of the largest restored prairies in the Midwest – home to roaming bison. It was the vision of Fermilab’s founder, Robert Wilson, to be at the “frontier of science while also bringing back the original frontier.” The first herd of bison were brought to the lab in 1969 and continue to be a visitor draw, especially when the calves are born each spring. The grounds are open to the public daily from dawn to dusk.
WILLOWBROOK WILDLIFE CENTER*
This native wildlife rehabilitation facility provides care and medical treatment to thousands of injured and orphaned animals across Illinois each year. Native wildlife with permanent disabilities are provided homes along the center’s outdoor exhibit trail, allowing visitors the opportunity to learn about and observe the animals found in their own backyards.
*Under construction and set to reopen in 2024/2025.

HELPFUL TIPS UPON ARRIVAL
• Domestic and international arrivals, please contact one of the preferred transportation partners. They will direct you to the appropriate door and pick-up location.
• Suburban cabs are operated as pre-arranged rides, or dispatched rides. Due to security procedures, your assigned cab cannot wait for you at the curb so be sure to have your bags before you call. If you get into a Chicago city cab (located in the first lane) you will be charged time-and-a-half. See “SAVE TIME & MONEY!” under preferred transportation partners.
Directly contact your hotel for details about shuttle services or discounted flat rates to and from Chicago Airports.
