Welcome to your June issue...
Well, what an amazing spectacular the coronation of King Charles III turned out to be, and how fabulous to see our local communities making such an effort to become involved in all the various events that were taking place over the long weekend. Whenever a community tries hard to offer the opportunity for people to come together and celebrate, it is always so rewarding when it is a success.
Hopefully, the good folk of Bourne and the local area will make a big effort to support those hard-working volunteers in both the Bourne Round Table with their ‘Bourne Festival’ on the weekend of June 2nd to June 4th, and in the Bourne Events Team whose ‘Picnic in the Park’ and Classic Car Show will follow on Sunday June 18th. Huge thanks in advance to you all.
A reminder to you all that June 18th also happens to be Father’s Day, so love and best wishes go to my dad, Bill; father-in-law, Rich; and my husband, Chris.
A summer of sporting excitement lies ahead. The five match Ashes series begins at Edgbaston on June 16th. From July 20th, the FIFA Women’s World Cup will see England’s Lionesses hoping to become our “pride” and joy again. The men’s Rugby Union World Cup in France will then take us through September and October, (just in time to see the Posh racing ahead towards promotion ... again!)
Nearer to home (and the real world!), Mrs S. successfully negotiated the London Marathon in 4 hours 47 minutes – next up … the small matter of a 47-mile run round Lake Windermere in September!
I’m always happy to endorse one of our regular advertisers. “Pete’s Ponds of Pointon” can add “professional, prompt, and passionate” to that catchy name, as our garden pond has now been totally transformed. And finally:
• The problem with kleptomaniacs is that they always take things literally.
• The man who invented Velcro died recently. RIP. Enjoy the read.

Words from the New Mayor
Hello again, Bourne! Who would have believed, sixteen years ago when I first joined the Council, I would get the opportunity to be Mayor not just once, but three times? I feel extremely lucky and honoured.
The first time I was Mayor was the Diamond Jubilee Year, 2012, and my ‘vision wish’ for Bourne that year was to achieve a skatepark for the town - eleven years later and my wish has been fulfilled! There has been a lot of hard work done by not a lot of people to make this happen. The amount raised eventually was over £300,000 and I would like to give a massive shout out for my fellow trustees on the committee, Nelly Jacobs, Jonathan Budd, and Phil Galpin who have all worked relentlessly to raise the funds.
Then Bourne Town Council came on board and received some “106 money” from SKDC, along with extra grants from the Len Pick Trust and Bourne United Charities to reach the final goal.
Little Owls Nursery
Bourne United Charities kindly provided the land to build the facility, which, hopefully, will be open for use very soon. Please keep off the bunding (soundproof barrier) until it is established.
A huge thank you to all my fellow Council members, both old and new. However, I will particularly miss my support and mentor, Judy Smith, who we sadly lost last year. I am honoured to have known her and worked with her and her husband, John. RIP to them both.
I think this could be an exciting year in many ways. First, we have some new Councillors on Bourne Town Council and have four seats to co-opt onto it. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact me or the office on 01778 426123. Bourne Town Council is not political and there are lots of opportunities to get more involved with the community we live in.
I look forward to serving you all and boosting the profile of our town to our neighbours in the wider Lincolnshire area.

Ghosts in the Hedgerow
BY TOM MOORHOUSEHedgehogs are disappearing. Their numbers are estimated to have halved in less than twenty years. Why? Who could possibly have it in for the hedgehog? Is it the car driver, the badger, the farmer, or the gardener?
Tom Moorhouse investigates the evidence. On a vital mission to save a species, he uncovers a story full of twists, turns and uncomfortable truths about the trade-offs that exist between humans and wildlife. And then thankfully he provides solutions. A final chapter equips the reader with the toolkit required to try and coax our beloved hedgehogs back.
The Premonitions Bureau
BY SAM KNIGHTWhat if you had a vision that something terrible was going to happen? What if you could share your vision, and prevent a disaster? In 1966, John Barker, a British psychiatrist working in an outdated British mental hospital, established the Premonitions Bureau to investigate this very idea. He would find a network of curious correspondents, and among them two highly gifted ‘percipients’. Together, they predicted calamities with uncanny accuracy. And then, they gave Barker their most disturbing warning … that he was about to die!

The Don’t Lose Hope Garden and Shed
By Stacy MacfarlaneWith summer around the corner, you might be wondering where to take your children that is local to Bourne, during the holidays. Or alternatively, you may be by yourself and looking to make new friends or simply chat to a friendly face. Then look no further than the Don’t Lose Hope Charity who have been running for a few years now, particularly aimed at helping those with mental health issues, also those who need a helping hand. They look out for the people of Bourne in general and have done wonders for members of the public. The Charity and its army of volunteers have changed the face of the town for the better.
One place to go where the Charity welcomes you with open arms is the Don’t Lose Hope Garden and Shed. Free to attend, although donations are welcome, I am a regular attendee and have made friends along the way. Emma Taylor is just one prime example. She is such a lovely lady and has really been there for me through the highs and lows. The founder and CEO of the Charity, Nicola Brister and her husband Dom, who runs the garden, have been a great listening ear as well to me and I cannot thank them enough. There have been many times where I have sat out in the Don’t Lose Hope Garden or over a cup a tea in the Shed, and Emma and I have had some really great conversations.
The Garden and Shed are not just there for a tea and chat; it also a hive of activity with the radio playing in the background. For example, they have groups on where they build wooden birdboxes, chairs and benches. There is also a memorial bench in the Garden where people who have sadly passed away can be remembered in a beautiful setting.
I lost a dear friend of mine in January this year who was connected to the Charity and when I found the bench with her name on there, I instantly felt reconnected with her. She would be proud of the volunteers at the Don’t Lose Hope Garden and how far it has come along, particularly in the summertime.
The Don’t Lose Hope Shed next to the Garden doesn’t just provide workshops, but there are also board games to play for free and books to read there. The Garden and Shed are there in all weathers, for people to visit and chat to like-minded people, all within a safe space.
So, next time you walk through the Wellhead Park in Bourne, past the Garden and see it open, just take one step inside and see where it takes you. You won’t be disappointed. It is a magical garden, ready to be explored. Your adventure starts today!
Nocturnal birds in sibilant causerie
Forest creatures in distant revelry
While nature’s blanket dims their rivalry
And stills the air to peaceful reverie

The ‘Plastic Brain’
europlasticity (the ‘plastic brain’) is the ability of our brain to change its connections or rewire itself. Our amazing brain is continually moulding and modifying itself to our environment, events in our lives, words, feelings, and the people around us. Without this ability, any brain, not just the human brain, would be unable to develop from infancy through to adulthood or recover from brain injury.
Our brain is so exceptional and what makes the brain exceptional is that, unlike a computer, it processes sensory and motor signals in parallel. It has many neural pathways that can replicate another’s function so that small errors in development or temporary loss of function through damage can be easily corrected by rerouting signals along a different pathway. Different pathways form and fall dormant, are created and castoff, according to our personal experiences. So, this vibrant process allows us to learn, develop and adapt to our ever-changing experiences.
It’s adaptable and extraordinary
Every time we learn something new, we create new connections between the neurons, and this is happening to all of us, all the time. This process
can be encouraged and stimulated, allowing us to learn, relearn and direct our lives, thoughts and behaviours, creating exciting possibilities.
This process can be so useful to us enabling us to reinvent ourselves, move away from our current state of things, or to overcome past traumatic events which create anxiety/stress or depression and fears which may lead to avoidance behaviours which then hold us back from living life to our fullest. By learning how to adjust our thought patterns and behaviours, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps you to create the changes you want in your extraordinary brain. If a person believes he or she can get smarter, better or more skilled at something through sustained effort, this is how neuroplasticity works, enabling us to purposefully rewire the brain, achieving what we really want. Learning a new language or a musical instrument works in this way too, no matter what the age.
The degree to which we apply the brain’s nearmagical abilities is also dependent on how committed we are in encouraging neuroplasticity and how we approach life in general.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you rewire your brain to make the best version of you.
If you would like to book an appointment or find out more about hypnotherapy, contact Christine on: 0780 9690 964 or contact@beardwoodhypnotherapy.co.uk

Rewilding around Bourne?
by Brynley HeavenLet’s begin with a symbolic moment. The Repeal of the Corn Laws in 1846 was an ‘in-principle’ decision to feed an urban population as cheaply as possible. Our guide is Joan Thirsk, with her book, ‘Alternative Agriculture from the Black Death to the Present Day’. She is alive to the long pulses of Lincolnshire history. Victorian high farming, heavily invested in corn and meat, was brought down by the refinement of the steamship and the advent of refrigeration.
Food flooded in from the ‘New World’. Our countryside went into a quieter gear, with a wider range of produce and some semi-abandoned
heathland and meadow - nothing new about rewilding then! The wheel of history turned again with the U-boats and the “War Ag Committees” ordering that everything should be ploughed, and we’ve been stuck in that mode, underwritten by subsidy, ever since. In truth, we don’t really know what we want. We love nature reserves and value what Bourne United Charities have done with a boardwalk at the Wellhead. But the mentality of ‘high farming’ is still with us. Our confusion is summed up by hedgerows. By 1957, we were subsidising their removal, but now we pay to lay them. A fenland corridor of revived wetlands is said to be under construction. The Observer hailed Bourne North Fen – very much a work in progress –as “a small triumph in the battle to rewild Britain’s landscape” (23/05/21) adding, “this is just the start”. We made two excursions to see what the future might hold. The first was to Wicken Fen in Cambridgeshire, a magical place. We pushed on into the remoter parts and began to feel like explorers. It soon transpired that all this delightful wetness, fauna and captured carbon was achieved by heroic amounts of electric pumping. The predictable wet fen we enjoyed is no more natural, although a good deal more biodiverse, than intensive cropping.
Our second excursion was along the River Glen. We started at ‘Spalding Tropical Forest’, now demoted to a Garden Centre, and walked to Surfleet for the pub. For much of the way, we were accompanied by our old friend, “algal bloom”, the price we pay for filling our rivers with fertiliser run-off, pesticides and goodness knows what else.
Rewilders are now targeting non-fen arable farms near us. The people from Knepp estate in Sussex have bought Boothby Lodge estate between Bourne and Grantham in order to put it out of action. According to Savills, the previous owners “invested in the installation of new land drains”, which are to be removed. Their company Nattergal’s website boasts “rewilding provides a range of new income streams; natural capital markets can produce attractive longterm financial returns” to provide tradeable carbon credits and biodiversity offsets for corporate clients. Food production foregone is presumably made good by imports, while budding smallholders get nothing. Joan Thirsk might say we’ve been here before!

Being In Control – Is it a Virtue?
WORDS FROM RICHARD WOODIn modern times, we all like to be in control of our lives. It is not always possible, but we try to achieve it. We would not, for instance, want our friends to choose our meal at a restaurant (not often anyway). However, if a person does not make a will, they are allowing the state to take control in respect of what happens to their property when they die. Sometimes, that still works well, but in other instances it does not.
Unmarried couples need to take particular care because there can be unintended consequences where the parties do not protect one another, especially as to who is entitled to the home (unless the title states that they hold it as “Joint Tenants”).
Otherwise, there could be difficulties between family members which could mean that a vulnerable, bereaved person is potentially made homeless.
Anyone who is unsure of their rights should take legal advice and, if a couple is unmarried, wills should generally be prepared. Where some family members are to receive more than others, a careful note as to the reasons must be kept by the solicitor. If a will was to be challenged by a disappointed beneficiary, the evidence should be provided to the solicitor by the testator (the person who makes the will) at the time the will was drawn up, to defend their wishes.
We all spend a lot of time on our social interests. However, we should ensure that those we love and care for are protected. Anyone unsure about their property rights or what would happen on their death to their property should take our advice.
So “being in control” is certainly a virtue but also necessary for us all.

The Power of Mindset: How Your Mental Health Affects Your Fitness Goals
When it comes to achieving your fitness and physique goals, most people tend to focus solely on their physical health and overlook the importance of their mental health. However, having a healthy mindset is just as crucial as proper nutrition and exercise when it comes to reaching your desired body composition.
A positive and motivated mindset can help you stay consistent and committed to your goals, while a negative and self-defeating mindset can hold you back or even cause you to give up. One of the most significant ways that mindset affects your fitness journey is through motivation. Motivation is what drives us to take action and work towards our goals, but it can be challenging to maintain that drive consistently.
On the other hand, negative self-talk and a defeated mindset can lead to self-sabotage and feelings of inadequacy. When you start to doubt yourself and your abilities, you are more likely to give up and not push yourself to your full potential.
Mental health also plays a role in your physical health. The stress and anxiety that come with negative self-talk and a poor mindset can take a toll on your body and even affect your hormones, making it harder to lose weight and gain muscle.
So, what can you do to improve your mindset and mental health on your fitness journey?
1Practise gratitude and positive affirmations daily. Start your day by thinking of things you are grateful for and affirming positive statements about yourself and your goals.
2
Surround yourself with positive and supportive people. Having a strong support system can help you stay motivated and uplifted on your journey. 3
Practise mindfulness and stress-reducing techniques, such as meditation or yoga. These practices can help you manage stress and anxiety, which can positively impact your physical health. 4
Celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may seem. Recognise and acknowledge the progress you have made and use that as motivation to keep pushing forward.
If you are struggling with your mindset or feel like you need additional guidance and support, I can help. I have a limited number of coaching spaces available to help you achieve your goals and transform your body and mind.
To help as many people as possible, I’m offering a FREE service for 2023. If you’re struggling to know where to start with your fitness and physique goals, get in touch with me, and I’ll conduct a FREE lifestyle audit and provide you with FREE ADVICE on the positive changes you should implement to finally start working towards your goals. The ‘Wright Care’ Mighty Hikers Walk • May
20th, 2023
Starting their route along the North Norfolk Coast from Cromer and finishing at Holkham Hall, a team of ten intrepid ladies will be striding out over 26.2 miles, as part of the ‘Macmillan Mighty Hike’ organised event!
Director and owner of Wright Care, Samantha Davis-Wright, outlines here their forthcoming challenge and seeks your support for such a valuable cause.
“As a company, it’s always been important to work closely with other multi-disciplinary teams, including the many charities that support the lives and goals of our community and the individuals for whom we provide a care service. By doing so, we build links and can then use these to better support our customers and help them to maintain a high quality of life and not be limited by any conditions they may have.
It also enables us to provide compassionate care to those we support and better emotionally support those around them, especially when supporting customers with terminal conditions that may result in a need for palliative or ‘end-of-life care’.
Over the past seven years, we have supported over three hundred customers in the community of Bourne
and Stamford, thus becoming an extended part to so many families. We wanted to take part in an event that not only would challenge us all and be a team-building exercise, but also one that we could work really hard on, to raise vital monies for a valuable charity which is close to our heart and those we have supported. Macmillan carers often work alongside us at the end stages of a person’s journey, and they do an incredible job. A sum of £264 raised could provide an individual with two days of care from a Macmillan support worker!
As a team of ten taking part in the hike, we set ourselves a target of £2,500. We have already held many fundraisers to achieve this and have worked tirelessly, alongside training for the hike, to meet this. From a live gig, organised by Fiona; a beauty night by Sammy; and a King’s Coronation Bake Sale by Sarah Palmer, we have now raised over £2,700! We would love to raise awareness for Macmillan and share our journey along the way! We have many sore legs from the training, but we are excited for the big day now.
To donate or support us, please visit our ‘just giving’ page: www.justgiving.com/ fundraising/thewrightcaremightyhikers.
Hay Fever Sufferers…
Dry Your Eyes and Read This
For all those that suffer with the dreaded hay fever, we don’t need to tell you that the season has already well and truly begun, and it’s only set to get worse. With debilitating symptoms affecting the eyes, nose, throat, and even itchy skin, you can soon find yourself making repeated trips to the pharmacy to stock up with tablets, eye drops and nasal sprays. This can easily end up costing you a small fortune, as well as requiring you to administer different medications multiple times a day. Typically, a severe hay fever sufferer will require tablets once or more a day, eye drops four times a day and a nasal spray twice a day, at a combined cost of approximately £30 per month. Here at Deep-in Aesthetics, we have had many, many reports from our clients that their hay fever symptoms have completely resolved after the use of a single injection. Though unlicensed and unavailable on the NHS, the injection is highly effective for many. It has additional benefits which our clients have reported in reducing their symptoms of arthritis and psoriasis, at a competitive price of £70 per injection, with only one being needed for the entire season for most people.

Sisters Taking Giant Strides to Help Alzheimer’s Society
Local ladies, Joann Medlycott and Tracy Williams are currently doing amazing charity work for the Alzheimer’s Society. Their father is fighting this cruel disease and he amazes them with his bravery every day. They want to show their support to him by helping raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society who are doing everything they can to find a cure.
On Saturday, June 3rd they are participating in the Alzheimer’s Society “Trek 26” which is a ‘marathondistance’ trek across London. They have a Just Giving page where people can donate: www.justgiving. com/fundraising/joann-medlycott and have been training for months already, so they are “Trek-ready”!
On April 29th, to raise awareness about ‘Trek 26’, they held a Coffee Morning at a packed West Deeping Village Hall. This featured a giant cake sale and a raffle with fantastic prizes donated by local businesses including: The Beauty Retreat, Dani’s Clothing, Buckles & Bows, L&H Hair, Woodland Creations and The Red Lion pub in West Deeping. The Coffee Morning was a tremendous success, raising a total of £781.37.
Also in June, these determined sisters are holding an online raffle with amazing prizes donated from local businesses around Bourne, such as Cafe 35, MY.Lab, Tasha’s Spray Tan, The Sweet Stop, The Jubilee Pub, Bourne Skip Hire, and Hotpoint/KitchenAid.
This will be drawn after they have completed the Trek 26 walk. The support they have had from local businesses around Bourne, and the surrounding areas is astounding and so heart-warming. Details can be found on Joann’s Facebook page, and both ladies deserve a huge pat on the back for all their hard work and dedication to the Alzheimer’s Society and for being so brave in supporting their father.

The sessions are welcoming, inclusive and open to anyone who is over 18 and has experienced a bereavement, whether you want to attend regularly to connect with others in similar situations or just drop in for a quick chat.
We have seven hospices and palliative care hubs across the UK and our aim is to introduce

Step Up Your Online Security to Help Keep Scammers at Bay
By Eileen Le Voi at Safe Local TradesOnline fraud is on the rise, with the UK having the highest number of cybercrime victims per million internet users in 2022. This has resulted in enormous losses but, worryingly, an increasing number of online crimes involving the hacking of personal email and social media accounts. So, with many of us having at least one email address and potentially one, two or even more social media accounts, what can we do to protect ourselves?
Solar Panel Bird Proofing
Regularly changing your password and having a different, hard to crack password for each of your accounts is advisable. Introducing Two or Multi Factor Authentication (2FA) can provide an important extra layer of protection. The first "factor" is your usual password that is standard for any account. The second "factor" is a verification code retrieved from an app on a mobile device or computer. It asks for another way to prove your identity when you sign into a service. There are different ways to do this: you might have a PIN sent to your phone in an SMS, you can generate a code using an independent app, or some services might provide a list of ‘back-up codes’ when you first set up 2SV (two-step verification). Whichever way you receive it, you then enter the PIN or code to prove it's really you. Although it's a small extra effort to access your accounts, it means that, even if an attacker has your password, they still can't gain access to your account. Here are a few simple ways to try and better protect our personal details and finances:
• Go through all your accounts and check you don’t have multiple accounts with the same password. If you have lots of passwords to change – start with your top five most used apps/accounts and then work your way through.
• Advice from the National Cyber Security Centre is to use three random words added together to make a long enough and strong enough password.
• Use a password manager and/or think about saving your passwords in your browser. As long as it is on your own (and not a shared) device, this should be safe to do.
• Most apps will allow you to switch 2FA on. Do this as soon as you can to try and prevent a password breach.
• Delete any apps that you don’t use – every app is a potential way in for cyber criminals and cutting down their options will keep your accounts safer.
Help to set up 2FA can be found at https://bit.ly/NCSC-2FA
Making the most of your Property
Adding value to your home is a key consideration for many homeowners.
• Of large-scale projects, research shows that a garage conversion or garden office may well provide the best return on your investment, especially with 44% of people now working from home (ONS).
• With the cost of living at the forefront of minds, upgrades to energy efficiency can provide a better return on investment than a kitchen or bathroom
Advice from Newton Fallowell
renovation that may or may not suit a buyer’s taste when you come to sell.
• Smaller investments, such as redecorating and adding an electric vehicle charge point, can also add value. These projects also help your property appeal to a wider variety of prospective buyers.

Spring Cleaning for Your Home’s Electrical System
BY COLEEN EVERITT, ALTO ELECTRICAL LIMITEDAthorough spring cleaning can help improve the safety and efficiency of your electrical system, and even save you money on your energy bills. Start by inspecting all your electrical outlets and switches. Look for signs of wear and tear, such as cracks or discolouration, and replace any damaged components.
You should also test each outlet to ensure that it’s working properly. If you find an outlet that’s not functioning, it’s important to have it repaired or replaced as soon as possible.
Next, take a look at your light fixtures. Dust and debris can accumulate on light bulbs and shades, which can reduce the amount of light they emit. Clean your light fixtures thoroughly and consider switching to energy-efficient LED bulbs. These bulbs use less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and can last for years, which can help you save money on your energy bills.
Finally, consider having your electrical system inspected by a professional electrician. An electrician can identify any potential safety hazards, such as outdated wiring or damaged electrical fittings, and make necessary repairs or upgrades to ensure that your home is safe and compliant.
By taking the time to clean and inspect your electrical system this spring, you can improve the safety and efficiency of your home and save money on your energy bills.
If you have a ceiling fan, make sure to clean the blades and check the motor for any signs of wear and tear. A well-maintained ceiling fan can help circulate air throughout your home, which can reduce your reliance on your heating system and save you money on energy costs. 01778

Spring is the perfect time to start fresh and get your home in order. While you’re busy cleaning out closets and scrubbing floors, don’t forget about your home’s electrical system.

Smalley Hot Tub Services Ltd: A Happy
finances, and civil partnerships
The
One warm evening during the Covid lockdown in March 2020, Chris
Justine Smalley were in their hot tub, wondering just how being furloughed from a seventeen-year career in the Royal Navy would affect Chris and his family.
As a graduate engineer, Chris had fixed everything from air defence systems to ships’ radar systems... and, yes, he had also repaired their own hot tub! This was their ‘light bulb moment’ and Smalley Hot Tub Services Ltd was born! Over the next two years, the business grew to a point where repairs on all makes and models of inflatable tub, and also acrylic tubs, were being made. In August, the family left the Royal Navy behind, moving to Pinchbeck, and to large premises, from where this flourishing business now operates, with aspirations to include a showroom before long.
Smalley Hot Tub Services offer a wide range of services, all underlain by a friendly, customercentred approach. These include hot tub and liner repairs, pump servicing and replacement, and diagnosing electrical faults, besides being a main dealer for several firms such as Catalina
They have a very strong online offering and can supply chemicals, swimming pools, barbecues and so much more for the great outdoors, from
Justine and Chris pride themselves on the highest standards, good workmanship, and honesty, putting customers first above everything else.
Popular Local Firm Revolutionise and Rebrands as “W&P Legal”
For eighteen years, Will & Probate Services has been providing clients with vital legal services when they need it most. Those of you who have worked with us before know that we are not a traditional law firm. Our excellent service is built upon our core values: to be trusted; to communicate effectively in a timely manner; to present the right solutions; to keep charges reasonable and proportionate; and to lead the market.
Will writing and estate planning and administration has been at the heart of Will & Probate Services since 2005, but a visit to a recent trade show gave us the realisation that it was time to take our brand to the next level, so we can show the world what we are truly capable of. Will & Probate Services has been growing rapidly, with a team of over forty staff, each bringing new and exciting ideas to the firm and many, many new opportunities. We’ve come to realise that while Will & Probate Services has been at the forefront of our identity for so long, it no longer represents all that we have offer. Will & Probate Services had to evolve. So, W&P Legal was born.
W&P Legal has ‘peace of mind’ at its heart. We are still specialists in Wills, probate and estate planning, elder care, and Lasting Power of Attorney, but now
offer so much more. Freed from the constraints of just Will & Probate Services, we can really spread our wings and reach our potential. W&P Legal now encompasses several sub-brands that further define the services we offer, including Islamic Wills, ‘Loving Legacies’ and ‘Mamas Wills’.
Covering a much wider area of expertise, these services are designed to offer more personalised, specialist advice on more specific matters such as Islamic Law, planning for families with children who have additional and complex needs (“Loving Legacies”) and providing knowledge and advice to parents on the importance of having a Will (“Mamas Wills”). Alongside our rebrand, we’ve taken this opportunity to expand on our ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’. Although we’re already very active within the community, we’ve taken the exciting step to make Little Miracles our charity of the year and have become Gold Ambassadors. Three of our team are also completing a skydive this year in the hope of raising £1,500!
This is a very exciting time for us at W&P Legal, and we’d love for you to share this journey with us. From taking your Will instructions to complex trust advice, mitigating Inheritance Tax and everything in between, we’re here for you.
You can stay up to date with us on Instagram (@wp_Legal), Facebook and Linked In.

Enjoy the work of local artists at the free Main Exhibition at the Old Town Hall, Bourne and visit the artists’ own homes or studios.
Entry to each venue is free and you will have the opportunity to buy the artists’ original work and they also often have cards and prints available. Opening times vary for each venue, leaflets showing these times will be available from the Old Town Hall during the open weekends or visit www.bournetownhall.org.uk for times and updates.
Access: As most venues are private homes, there may not be specialist access for disabled visitors. Please email us if you need any information.
Everyone is welcome, we simply ask you respect the artist’s property when you visit.
We look forward to seeing you -Look out for the BAOH signs and orange bunting at each venue!

Wills
Why do I need a will?
Wills are important to ensure that your assets pass to those you would like. If you are not married, your partner will not automatically inherit your estate.
If you have children, you can also use a will to nominate guardians to ensure they are looked after if the worst may happen.
Lasting Powers of Attorney
What are they?
Lasting Powers of Attorneys (LPAs) are documents that allow someone that you nominate as your attorney, to deal with your financial or health affairs on your behalf.
These are used when you lose mental capacity but must be created while you can still make decisions. If you do not create these in time, then unfortunately the solution is more costly and time consuming.
Probate
What is it?
When a person sadly passes away, some banks and institutes require a Grant of Probate to enable you to collect in their assets. If you are selling a house, a solicitor will require this to complete the sale.
We are licensed to assist with the probate application on your behalf, as well as distribute the estate, making everything simpler at this difficult time.
