Welcome to Your January Issue. And so, here we go headlong into 2019 at the same frantic pace that saw 2018 seem to flash by. I always try to take stock at this time of year of what has happened over the last twelve months, memorable events that have been highlights, other days when things haven’t worked out so well, one son ‘making a new life’ for himself whilst his brother will soon be considering his own post-A Level destination. Whatever happens on the international and the national stage in the months to come, let’s try to remember that the goodwill which we all share at this time of the year is still around, with plenty to spare, as we enter 2019. Our resolution is to continue to provide you with a lively, interesting, useful and entertaining magazine every month. Please keep the feedback coming our way, and all the very best for a happy, healthy and successful year.

Fifty years on since man first landed on the moon, Monty Python first appeared, and Woodstock showed us Bourne hippies how it should be done – (tie-dyed grandad vests and flowers in your hair on the Well Head? Well, really!) This month’s issue, as ever, will give you plenty of valuable advice from our wonderful contributors, whether it be in the sphere of health issues, legal matters, finance, travel, computer problems, consumer affairs and pets … the list goes on! Resolution #1 from me for 2019? A couple of one-liners each month, starting right here: Thanks for explaining the word “many” to me – it means a lot. he turn of the year marks a time for many of us to reflect on the time that has passed and make plans and set goals for the new year. Increasing activity and getting in shape is often high on the list so, if this is on your agenda, now is the time to consider finding an exercise programme that will fit in with your lifestyle and become something you look forward to, rather than see as a chore. Mind Body Exercise - If improving posture, reducing stress and overall wellbeing are top of your list, then classes such as ‘Yoga’ and ‘Pilates’ are ideal. These classes are suitable for all abilities, but often include complete beginner courses this time of the year. Dance – Dance-style fitness classes are not just great fun, but there is lots of research now that confirms this type of activity can have a positive effect on reducing the risk of dementia and improving mood. It is also a great way to forget your troubles and enjoy the music. Classes such as ‘Aerobics’, ‘BEATZ’, ‘Zumba’ and ‘Belly Dancing’ all fit into this category. Toning – Most classes will improve your overall muscle tone, but classes such as weighted workout and ‘Legs Bums and Tums’ will work specifically with weights to music, to encourage inch loss,

HEALTH IN THE NEWS - STOP PUTTING THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE by Matt Weston

Being a family that runs a gym means that, whenever the national news turns to talk about health, (whether it be trends, statistics or new discoveries), we now instinctively prick up an ear, stop and listen. Of course, health and exercise go hand-in-hand. Obvious, right? Yes, it’s obvious … or at least it should be! And it will be in the mind of millions as their new year’s resolutions, we hope, include a decision to be more healthy and to get to their local gym. So, why is there such prevalence of disease or ailment that could be aided, improved or even reversed with the right amount of exercise, allied with the right diet? Obesity and type 2 diabetes are two I regularly hear about on the news on TV, or on the radio. The three main reasons people might not exercise, in my personal opinion, are time, education and cost.

Typically, although people’s working hours are changing, the “9-5 life” is the most common, and it might seem the ideal scenario for having loads of time to train. Come in before work or come in on the way home. But I also recognise the challenges of full, congested roads or wanting to be together for family tea time at the end of the day.

My training time is at a premium. I need to make sure I find time and be deliberate about ‘diarising’ it. It is important! Without my health, how can I be the best dad I can be, the best partner I can be and the best business person I can be?

particular identifying demographic. It seems to sit with people who, through no fault of their own, haven’t found that fitness and exercise is their priority. They don’t look forward to it or, essentially, they have not yet experienced its multiple and sometimes quite immediate benefits. And I think this bias is perpetuated by lazy media. And I don’t think it’s the fault of ‘social media’! The News! Regardless of the channel. The news hardly ever takes the benefit of exercise and fitness as the lead component, in areas that should be shouting ‘EXERCISE’ from the London broadcasting rooftops! Most recently I have seen news (on the BBC) on the NHS pilot for an 800 calories-a-day, ‘liquid diet’ designed to reverse type 2 diabetes. “Thousands of people with type 2 diabetes in England are to be prescribed a very low-calorie diet in the hope of reversing their condition. Under the pilot, they will be restricted to 800 calories a day, in the form of soups and shakes, for three months. When the diet was trialled last year, almost half of those involved managed to put their diabetes into remission. NHS England has also announced it’s expanding a programme to prevent people developing type 2 diabetes. The health service currently spends around 10% of its budget on treating diabetes in England. So far, more than 250,000

people who were on the cusp of developing type 2 diabetes have been referred to classes which offer advice and support on food, diet and exercise But Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of NHS England, said industry needed to take action too. ‘The NHS pound will go further if the food industry also takes action to cut junk calories and added sugar and salt from processed food, TV suppers and fast-food takeaways’, Mr Stevens said. The announcements come ahead of what is known as the Forward Plan for the NHS in England, in which measures that prevent ill health in the first place are expected to be heavily emphasised.” (BBC News Website 03/12/18) I, of course, applaud this as positive news. But where is the reference to the obvious importance of exercise? Where is it? It’s effectively nowhere. Yet, if you take diet as 50% of the issue, and the potential for genetic predisposition as say 10% … that leaves exercise and fitness as 40% of the potential solution that is

currently taking up 10% of the entire NHS budget! But hey… what do we know? There is mention of people being referred to classes which offer advice and support on food, diet and exercise. Just a point of note… we have tried at Empire Gym to be allowed to take referrals from the local Health Centre and have been denied, as we are a privatelyowned business. And note the final paragraph of the quote… “measures that will prevent ill health in the first place are expected to be heavily emphasised.” Exercise then?! My clear frustration comes from the fact that there are thousands upon thousands of independent gyms, events and fitness professionals whose passion for their trade would go a long way to writing the ‘Forward Plan’ for him. Indeed, while it is perceived by many that the global fitness community is a step beyond the average person, or elitist, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Health that will prevent ill health”, engage with people whose passion, whose very life blood is exercise and fitness. Cost This seems a simple argument. Indeed, it is my mission to make sure people understand the difference between a £15 a month ‘chain gym’ and an independent one at £39.99. But there is more to understand. Before we opened Empire and stepped into fitness, our previous company was an engineering company. We were experts in a particular type of German manufactured, combination oven which was a leader in its field. We would install, service, maintain and offer expert advice on all aspects of this machinery. Our customers were businesses, (restaurants, supermarkets, pubs, universities, and football clubs’ catering departments). The point is it was a business-tobusiness operation. “Why is this relevant?” you ask. The answer is VAT – (Value Added Tax), which we paid then and which we pay now. The difference then, for our customers it was deductible as a business expense; for you, our gym customers now, it is not. But we must still pay it. So £8 of every £39.99 membership (20%, the current VAT rate) could arguably be removed if VAT were not chargeable on fitness-related enterprises. Or, in turn, if it were not deducted from the membership price, there would be more investment capital available for new equipment or for gyms to send

their staff to be educated to a higher level of expertise in things like …. pre-diabetes! There is a tax on alcohol and cigarettes and there is a tax on fitness. Remove the tax on fitness! So, for me, it is not the only solution to keep shouting about taxing sugars and penalising food manufacturers. Yes, food should be healthier, but ultimately people will make their own choices, dependent upon a myriad of personal circumstances and decisions. There will always be better or worse quality food. Like there will always be better or worse quality gyms. But we need to make the best quality gyms more accessible. We need to be allowed to accept GP referrals from the local doctors’ surgery. We need to have that 20% tax back to be able to attract more members and educate our staff and continue to

improve our product. And most of all, the public all need to be exposed to the inherent passion, knowledge and will of the people who make independent gyms work. These are the small businesses and people who step in at the root of the community and inspire and raise people up. The ones who talk, interact and listen. The ones who will truly influence people’s food decisions and dietary habits. The fitness industry and independent gyms need to be recognised, not only by their local communities, but by governments and news organisations. We are the key, and the foundation, for so much potential. Potential to prevent ill health. Potential to alleviate a burden on the NHS. Potential to save the country money. Stop putting the cart before the horse!

Happy New Year... What’s the Resolution? School News William Hildyard CE Primary and Nursery School education on a variety of national and local policing priorities with our Years 5 and 6 children. There will also be individual sessions with our Mini Police Officers.

This year at William Hildyard CE Primary and Nursery School, children have been given the opportunity to be involved with “The Mini Police Scheme”. The scheme is an interactive, volunteering opportunity for 9 -11 year olds, which follows a three-step approach: Education, Community and Reward. The objective is to introduce children to a positive experience of policing and to get them involved in the local community. The project is being promoted by the National Volunteer Police Cadets team, encouraging all police forces in the UK to take part.

As a Mini Police Officer, children receive their very own uniform and will help others at school. They will also be involved with community activities to enhance community confidence and pride, such as litter picking, road safety and inter-generational opportunities.

PCSO Rowena Everitt has been in school, encouraging children to put themselves forward to become Mini Police Officers. Children were asked to write a short speech about themselves and why they wanted to be a Mini Police Officer and present it in front of ninety children. Elections were held and six children have taken on this role. Over the course of the year, PCSO Rowena Everitt will be delivering

Baston C.E. Primary School Over the last few weeks we have heard that our PTA have managed to obtain a double-decker bus for us to use as a library. We are all extremely excited, as the PTA are now in the process of transforming it, and we can’t wait to use it! We held two Remembrance services on November 9th, EYFS Year3 in school and Years 4 - 6 in church. We took the opportunity to remember all who have fought to enable us to the have the freedom in our country and also to remember our much loved caretaker, David Swift, who was sadly taken from us last year. Mr Swift used to take an active role in all of our Remembrance services as he was a member of the Royal Navy who had fought in

the Falklands War. Our Year 5 children enjoyed a sports session with a PE coach from Inspire Plus, following their day out at the MiniOlympics in June when they came third in a banner competition. Year 6 visited Stamford New College to participate in a range of ‘hands on’ practical activities. A great day was had by all, and they learnt a huge range of new skills including: tiling, surveying, plumbing, bricklaying … to name but a few! Our Key Stage 1 pupils have been enjoying music lessons with our specialist teacher, Sarah Young. They have been using boom whackers to enhance their learning.

tallington lodge care home SET TO open phase two of redevelopment

The second phase of the redevelopment of Tallington Lodge Care Home will be opening to new residents in February 2019. The care home will accommodate sixty-one residents and will offer the highest standards of residential and dementia care. Tallington Lodge will feature a themed pub area, courtyard café, and a private dining room which residents and their families can use for special occasions and celebrations. The scheme has involved the partial demolition of the old care home to make way for a new, sympathetically designed, two-storey front extension, in keeping with the original Regency period rectory. The project will see an additional thirty-one bedrooms added to the new wing of the care home that was opened by the Mayor of Stamford, Councillor Tony Story, in August 2017. Phase two of the project will bring an additional thirty permanent full-time jobs and a number of part-time jobs to Tallington, as the home expands its care, activities and catering teams. “We are delighted that our project at Tallington Lodge is nearing completion,” said Country Court Care Managing Director, Alykhan Kachra. He added, “We are very proud to have created a beautiful building that our residents can call home and where we will provide a dedicated team of professionals who will deliver outstanding levels of care.” 14

Tallington Lodge is built from traditional stone, whilst incorporating state-of-the-art design and functionality, enabling staff to deliver the highest standards of personalised care. JANUARY Gardening Tips January is a good time to relax, as the weather does not allow for days of work at the allotment or vegetable plot, although as you will see there are a number of jobs that can still be done. Sit back with a good book on gardening and a seed catalogue and make a plan! Reflect on what grew well, what went wrong and if it can be improved on this year. How about trying to grow something a little unusual for a change, away from your usual standard fruit and veg? If there are any areas of your plot that still need a winter digging, then make sure that the soil is not frozen or waterlogged - (if the soil sticks to your boots keep off it, as this will only compact the soil). Well-rotted manure, or organic material, can be added to the soil surface and it will become incorporated naturally. Also a good idea when you are digging is to apply lime to the surface at 100g per square metre (3oz per square yard), especially if you grew brassicas the year before. Getting the soil prepared now will save time feeding later in the year and will often enhance crop growth and yield. Towards the end of the month, seed potatoes should be available and you can start chitting them ready for planting: put them rose side uppermost and use old egg boxes or seed trays. Weather permitting, there are a few jobs that can be tackled: • Prune apple and pear trees but not stone fruits such as cherry and damson; they should be summer pruned. • Plant bare-rooted trees and bushes. • At this time of year rhubarb can be forced, using pots or an upturned bucket, or even a pile of straw, making sure any holes are covered to completely cut out the light. • Protect plants from cold and check stakes and ties. • Start a bean trench by digging down about 60cm and then start filling it with your organic kitchen waste. Each time you add a batch of waste, cover with a layer of soil: continue until the trench is full and leave it to rot down. • It’s a good time of year for a spot of cleaning: seed trays and plant pots can be cleaned with a mild bleach solution to kill diseases that may have carried over to the new seedlings. • Draw the soil up around the stalks of cabbages and winter cauliflowers to just under the first set of leaves. Check over Brussels sprouts and sprouting broccoli and support them with a strong stake to prevent them from being blown over in high winds. • In non-freezing weather, shallots can be planted. Shallots take longer to grow than onions, but if planted now, should be ready earlier in the summer. Here’s to a year of fruitful gardening!

Margo’s design philosophy is focused on pushing the boundaries of weaving to create contemporary stylish fabrics for a range of interior textile applications, uniting the very best weavers and highest quality fibres to produce beautifully crafted products. Margo’s expertise in weaving is central to all of the product development. The design process begins with hand-woven textile concepts, which are then developed with specialist mills and artisan weavers, to create unique textile products that include furnishing fabric, carpets, rugs and accessories.

Chelsea College of Art and Design and then followed this with a postgraduate degree at The Royal College of Art, graduating in 2001. Upon graduating, Margo initially worked as a woven textile designer for industrial mills. If, like many people, you choose to hit the High Street straight after Christmas for your seasonal spend up – then don’t let the pickpockets spoil your festive bargainhunting fun. While you may be armed with a postChristmas shopping wish-list, you can guarantee that the pickpockets and purse dippers will be out in force to cause heartache and misery. According to last year’s police statistics across a number of UK cities, December 27th is when shoppers are traditionally out in force after Boxing Day and is the most popular day for thieves to strike. In Birmingham alone, £20,000 worth of valuables were taken by pickpockets during the festive season, whilst in Cardiff that figure was £27,000. As you would suspect, phones – in particular expensive ones – were top of the list, credit and debit cards were next, followed by purses, wallets, handbags and jewellery. It’s so easy when we are busy and in a rush not to zip up bags or put phones away properly, but it is so very important to be extra vigilant and careful at this time of year, especially in crowded shops and whilst in queues. Remember, pickpockets are very skilled at what they do. They know all the tricks and are extremely light-fingered, with most of their thefts only taking a second or two. Dos and Don’ts to Keep Yourself Safe Do keep purses and bags closed and secure at all times. Do conceal your wallet in a buttoned or zipped pocket where it doesn’t bulge. Do carry bags in front of you or diagonally across your chest. Do return cards to your purse or wallet quickly and zip it up or button it. Do use a money belt if you’re carrying a significant quantity of cash. Do keep your valuables out of sight.

MEN UNITED IN SONG 2019: SUPPORTING PROSTATE CANCER UK New Year, new you? Looking for a fresh challenge, new skills and a great social scene to boot? Then look no further… Following its phenomenal success over the last few years, Men United in Song is back for 2019, once again raising money for Prostate Cancer UK. Launching in March, the project will sign up 40 local men with a range of previous singing experience (including none) to rehearse over 10 weeks for a charity concert at the Cresset Theatre on Saturday 11th May. To date the project has engaged hundreds of local men, raising many thousands of pounds for the charity, as well as inspiring similar projects across the country – a fantastic result! John, from Moulton Chapel, says “I was looking for something new to do and Men United in Song seemed like a great way of meeting new people and supporting a good cause. I wasn’t sure what to expect and it was quite a steep learning curve! I didn’t realise before that not everyone in a choir sang all the same thing together, there are harmonies too, and when it all comes together it sounds absolutely amazing! The whole experience was fantastic and performing in the concert was the icing on the cake!” “Having seen Men United in Song advertised in previous years and been tempted to get involved, I finally got the impetus to go for it when my father was diagnosed” says Martin from Bourne. “Although the idea initially filled me with some trepidation, 32

the experience proved to be extremely enjoyable and fulfilling. It’s a very rewarding opportunity whilst raising vital awareness and funds for the continuing fight against prostate cancer.” “I wanted to improve my singing and Men United in Song seemed like a great opportunity!” says Adam from Thorney. “Turning up for the first rehearsal was daunting, but I immediately felt comfortable singing in such a relaxed environment. The highlight for me was knowing that we were creating something amazing for such a great cause. I’ve met all sorts of people, from farmers to accountants to new dads without this project we would never have had the chance to meet and discover how we can really sing. I would highly recommend the experience!” Men United In Song is not all about the singing or even about the fundraising, there’s a fantastic social scene too! Ultimately, it’s about a group of men getting together in a shared enterprise, which of course is the idea behind Prostate Cancer UK’s Men United campaign, and why the charity seemed such a good fit for the project. William Prideaux, director of Men United in Song, says “Year on year, we see men of all ages from all walks of life get stuck into this project, producing fantastic results over a relatively short period of time both in terms of the progress they make and the sound they produce in the final concert and in terms of raising money for this very important charity. I am trained in three procedures to remove wax from the ear : irrigation,(formerly known as “syringing”), instrumentation and microsuction, but my first choice would always be irrigation, providing there are no contraindications for a person. Advantages of Irrigation over the Other Procedures: Irrigation removes 100% of the wax, leaving behind no dry wax in the ear canal, so it lasts a lot longer. It is never painful, as the wax is soft and washed away, and not pulled away, from the canal. It is much quicker. There is no instrument being poked into the canal, so posing less risk of trauma to the ear drum. It is cheaper, as wax removal has now gone ‘privatised’.

Local Butcher Wins Top Sausage Awards Local business, Grasmere Farm is celebrating after winning two trophies and four awards at Melton Christmas Show on Tuesday December 4th. The pork farm, which is also celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year, has an enviable reputation for making superb sausages which has seen it win many awards previously. This year at the Melton Show, the Lincolnshire-based butcher’s “Lincolnshire Sausage” was outright winner of the Neil Smith Challenge Category for Best Pork Sausage. They also came first, second and third in the John Porter Challenge Category for Specialty Sausage for their “Pork & Stilton”, “Smoked Rutland” and “Pork & Cracked Black Pepper Sausages”

Discovering . . . Deeping mill

indmills were an essential part of the community in past centuries and most towns and villages had one, always available to turn grain into flour for use in making bread which was an essential part of the daily diet. There were many different types of mill powered variously by hand cranks, working animals, wind or water, although in later years many were converted to electricity. The tower mill which became the most popular, represented an improvement on traditional westernstyle windmills and was an important source of energy for Europe for nearly 600 years from 1300 to1900, contributing 25 per cent of the industrial power of all wind machines before the introduction of the steam engine and coal. Windmills in general had been at work for centuries and this part of Lincolnshire is best known for those which had been specially adapted for draining marshland by driving paddles to push water from the dykes into the drainage channels in time of heavy rainfall and by 1763, over fifty were at work in Deeping Fen alone to reclaim the large tracts of rich agricultural land we see today. The tower mill was a tall building made of brick or stone with a wooden cap that could rotate to bring the sails into the wind, a sturdy structure designed to stand much higher and bear larger sails, thus affording greater reach into the wind. There were normally four blades although over the years millwrights experimented with different methods and as a result twelve mills with eight sails, over fifty with six and fifty with five sails were built in England in the late 18th and 19th century, half of them in Lincolnshire. There were several such corn mills situated around the Deepings and the surrounding villages, all used mainly for grinding grain for the benefit of local farmers and villagers who paid a fee to the miller.

All have now gone, the last at Deeping St James, a four-sailed mill which stood close to todayâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s junction of Broadgate Lane and Hereward Way, but by the mid-20th century was in a parlous state, having been derelict for many years with no sails or fantail, and so it was demolished in 1960 to make way for the residential development we see today. Other windmills in Lincolnshire that have survived the years have been preserved to become tourist attractions as part of our national heritage and so we are able to see the way it was. School News Deeping St James Community Primary School I hope everyone had a great Christmas and the new year has started well. The autumn term, although a long one, was a productive one at DSJ. Our sports teams were very active, with our Year 5/6 girls winning the local swimming gala and our netball team coming third in our league. In addition, our Year 5/6 girls and boys football teams performed well in local competitions. Musically, it was also a successful term. Our school rock band was greatly appreciated when they performed at The Market Deeping Christmas Market and our vocal students sung carols at five different venues in our local community. By the time you read this, over fifty of our singers will also have performed at a mass choir event in Sheffield Motorpoint Arena as part of â&#x20AC;&#x153;Young Voicesâ&#x20AC;?!

In the new year, Deeping St James Community Primary School, Market Deeping Community Primary School and Baston CE Primary School are undertaking an exciting, joint reading project, where we are joining up with the local library to promote reading within our schools and in the local community. New Swimming Records Set at Scottish Nationals Tom Neal and Holly Leggott broke two club records apiece as Deepings Swimming Club travelled to compete in the Scottish National Short Course Championships last month. They were joined by Bethany Eagle-Brown and Lorna McGill at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh. The quartet raced in twenty-two events against some of the best swimmers in Britain over the three-day competition, achieving eleven ‘personal bests’ between them. In the 200m backstroke, Tom broke Alex Thurston’s record set sixteen years ago, whilst in the 100m backstroke, he dipped under 59 seconds for the first time to set a new club record. During an outstanding weekend of competition, Tom went on to achieve new personal bests in the 100IM, 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly. Holly Leggott lowered two of her own 16-years age group club records in the 50m and 100m backstroke, and also set a new personal best in the 100m freestyle. Bethany Eagle-Brown qualified for seven events and set a new personal best in the 50m backstroke. Completing the weekend’s racing was Lorna McGill who made her debut in the Edinburgh pool. Deepings Swimming Club head coach Lynn Chapman said: “Congratulations to all four swimmers who qualified for this high quality meet. New Year’s Resolutions We’ve just been through our traditional Christmas (or “eating fest”), and if it was a good one, like mine, the waistband is getting a little tight and some New Year’s resolutions are on the cards. Weight problems are increasing in our pets too, with some estimates stating that as many as half our pets are currently overweight, with a significant percentage considered clinically obese. As out pets are fed by us, then it is something that we must take control of. Most people think that dogs and cats need a bowl of food a day, but how much is in one bowl? Portion size and the number and type of snacks we feed our pets affect the number of calories eaten by them.

If you are concerned about your pet’s weight, talk to your veterinary nurse. They will calculate the required calorie intake and work out a feeding plan with you. Set out their total food for the day in advance, including snacks, and stick to it, then weigh your pet twice monthly to see if the diet is working or if you need to adjust it. Is your pet a secret eater, or are you the secret feeder? Only you can be the judge of that!

Fat cells are laid down in the body when our animals are young and growing, and the number of fat cells then never changes. The cells get fuller or thinner, depending on the calorie intake of your pet, but they never go away, so overweight puppies and kittens are predisposed to become obese adult animals. Another contribution to the development of pet obesity is their owner’s misconception of “healthy”. Recent research has shown that 56% of cat owners and a whopping 97% of dog owners believe that their overweight pet is a healthy size – clearly not true. Most people will admit to giving their pets a few extra treats, but don’t forget that the problem lies with the amount, and most of us don’t weigh out the bowl of food, or count the biscuits we let our pets have in one day. Exercise can make a difference to the number of calories your pet needs, but if you have an indoor cat or an older, less active, dog then you will need to be extra vigilant. Most dogs (and some cats) are designed to eat anything they can get; it’s a survival requirement in the wild, so they always look hungry and will eat anything given to them. Those pleading, brown eyes, as they beg for a biscuit or two, is only instinct and it takes self-discipline by us to resist.

After raising money and food parcels over WSO18 weekend, we finally got around to spending the donation at Market Deeping Tesco, on much-needed toiletries for Bourne and tinned meat for the Deepings. Local Dog Care Business ‘Barking up the Right Tree’! Local dog boarding company, Wagging Tails, recently celebrated the completion of its first year providing dog owners throughout the PE postcode area in Cambridgeshire with a home-based alternative to kennels. The business was launched in May 2017 by Shirley Lilley, who has put together a team of high quality ‘dog carers’ who welcome dogs into their own homes for a ‘doggy holiday’ while their owners are away. The service has seen a huge demand and the business is fully booked for much of the 2018 summer holidays and beyond. Shirley attributes the success of the business to the quality of her team of ‘dog carers’ and the focus she places on the welfare and individual needs of each dog, commenting, “I am lucky to have a wonderful team of carers who love welcoming guest dogs to stay. They treat all of their guests as though they are their own dogs, providing a wonderful standard of service and giving the dogs staying with them a true home-from-home holiday.
