Welcome to Your November Issue. It’s getting closer by the day, and I’m talking turkey, (along with trees, tinsel and trimming-up!) as the whole wonderful Christmas season gathers momentum once more. This month’s issue features many local restaurants and hostelries offering all manner of attractions for the festive weeks ahead, so remember to book early for your special events. As we head towards the end of another year, I’d just like to express my thanks to all of the team here at Discovering Magazines on yet another bumper year. It has been made possible through a lot of hard work, alongside the continued wonderful features reaching us, month after month, from our contributors, and of course, you, the readers, who keep telling us that we’re getting it right – many thanks to you all.

It would appear that the whole Brexit bandwagon is rumbling towards some sort of a conclusion with the October 31st deadline. I wonder what will take its place on our newspaper front pages in the months to come, maybe the arrival of a new buzz-word … BRETURN !!! Just think, three more years and even more millions being spent on financing GB’s return to the welcoming arms of the E.U. and the word “backstop” being allowed to return to its original usage – that fielding position in cricket immediately behind the wicket-keeper for when the ball goes through his legs! Whatever the politicians throw at us, though, we’re used to it by now, and with this month’s issue of your favourite magazine in your hands, you can turn your attention to matters, much more interesting – I hear Christmas is less than ten weeks away. And finally: Latest football results: Real Madrid 3 Surreal Madrid Banana. A man just assaulted me with milk, cream and butter. How dairy! Enjoy the read … and for all you moustache cultivators, have a magnificent “Mo-vember”!

Bonfire Night - Advice and Ideas

onfire night is a fascinating occasion for children to experience. They get fixated by the awe inspiring fire surrounded by people and families, they watch in amazement as fireworks fly through the night sky creating imaginative patterns as they explode by the stars .This inspiring night can truly be utilised for all the family . Glow stick treasure hunt ● Have you ever had a treasure hunt in the dark? It adds an extra element of fun to a scavenger hunt. ● Hide glow sticks all over the

garden. Make some of them trickier to find by hiding them high up in bushes or trees and behind plant pots.

● Ask your party guests to set them off and see how many they can find. Make a Guy Making a Guy for the bonfire is a fun activity for the whole family. Gather some old clothes for your Guy to wear, a balloon, some newspaper or straw, some pens and string. Tie string around the ankles and sleeve cuffs of your clothes. Stuff the body with scrunched up newspaper or straw

to make a life-like figure. For the head, blow up a balloon and decorate with the pens. Attach a piece of string to the knot of the balloon and tie it to the body. Once the bonfire is lit, throw the Guy on to it. Firework painting To create some fun firework drawings, you’ll need black paper, paints and straws. Place a few blobs of paint onto the paper and let your children blow the paint with the straw in all different directions making them look like fireworks. For extra sparkle, add some glue and glitter to the finished painting!

n a bright sunny autumn day, goldcrests flitted through the trees and great crested grebes drifted down the river, whilst vast numbers of fallow deer roamed the grounds of Holkham Hall in Norfolk. Both young and old stags were either grazing on their own or with their own harem, allowing me to get some photographs of them, wandering through the woods

that lined the estate. As I have mentioned before, it’s important to keep a fair distance from wildlife to avoid too much disturbance, or putting yourself or the animal in danger. I stood still amongst the trees as the stag and does moved around me, keeping low and using my 100-400mm lens to capture the animals without moving into their space. The gaps between the trees allowed some of the bright sunlight to reach the floor, which then highlighted the deer amongst the dark leaves and tree trunks. It looked like a scene from a fairy tale story! As I continued to explore around the estate, the unmistakable sound of antlers clanking echoed across the open meadows. Sure enough, a pair of stags were

battling it out in front of a huge harem. Unknown to me, while they were locked into each other’s antlers, they were steadily moving towards where I was positioned. As soon as they broke free, the winner was chasing the loser away… directly towards me! I stood my ground and, thankfully, they both veered to my left and over the hill behind me. It was an intense but exciting moment to see this yearly spectacle happen so close by, showcasing the power that these animals have, to defend their harem and to pass down their genes to the next generation.

Peregrine Lands in Dyke – New Lease of Life for Mill Lincolnshire’s sole surviving smock mill, which stands next door to the Wishing Well Inn in Dyke, has received a new, and very welcome, lease of life. Richard Winkworth has incorporated the fabulous old structure into “Peregrine”, his picture-framing business, established recently in the village. Over three hundred years old and originally located in Deeping Fen, the former corn mill was re-located to Dyke in 1845 and was fully operational until being dismantled in 1926. The structure has since been through some good times and bad but, with Peregrine having ‘landed’, its future is assured and Richard’s business is set to ‘take off’! Over thirty years in the picture-framing industry has enabled Richard to collect a vast knowledge of innovative ways of framing. He has framed many different products and sold art works of the exotic and unusual. The last seven years have been spent at Waterside Garden Centre, but now Richard has decided to re-locate the art and framing business to his Dyke workshop.

He uses the best in acid-free mountboards as well as “forestcertified” moulding for the frames. The mill houses, on two floors, all the specialised machinery used in today’s modern framing techniques. The almost limitless list of articles, around which Richard can attach a frame, includes watercolours, oils, tapestries, cross-stitch, embroideries, photographs, medals, football shirts, moulds of children’s feet and poppies from The Tower of London!

There is a new sales office where customers can see a vast range of over seventy frames and over fifty mountboard colours, which surround and enhance people’s art works.

campfire stew (syn-free!) This delicious Slimming World recipe is hearty, satisfying and best of all, syn-free so you can tuck in, guilt-free! Perfect if you’re watching your weight in anticipation of all those festive parties...

Slow Cooker Method • Soak the gammon joint overnight in cold water if necessary. • Reserve half of the sliced peppers and add the rest of the ingredients to the slow cooker, then stir well and switch on. • Set slow cooker to high setting and cook for 6-8 hours on high (you can leave it on longer if you like). • 30 minutes before the end of cooking, stir in the reserved peppers. • After 6 hours, check consistency of sauce and tenderness of meat. The meat should be starting to fall apart and sauce thickening. You can remove the lid and cook on high to finish the meat and thicken the sauce if necessary. • The meat should have broken up but if not, shred it in the slow cooker with two forks and mix well before serving.

Deepings Swimming Club Takes Fourth Place at Junior Fenland League Deepings Swimming Club produced a strong team performance with several outstanding individual races to finish fourth in the final round of the Junior Fenland League. The result means they qualified for the ‘C’ final in October. Three swimmers won their events at the team competition in Thetford. Ella Gerrard stepped up an age group to win the 13/U 100m individual medley and completed a brace of victories with first place in the 12/U 50m backstroke. Grace Edwards also achieved a pair of first place finishes after excellent swims in the 11/U 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle. Kieran NG completed the winning performances with victory in the 9yrs 50m breaststroke. Lynn Chapman, Deepings Swimming Club Head Coach, praised the resilience and resolve of the junior team.

No Bills, Only a Fat Cheque, as Deepings Lions’ Duck Race is a Quacking Success! The Deepings Lions would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who supported their annual Duck Race which was held on Sunday September 1st. The fun event was run to help support St Barnabas Hospice, and a cheque for £3,000 was presented by Lion Dave Coombs to their representatives; from left to right - Ann Lymburn, Pat Burrall and Paisley Paddison.

POPPY APPEAL NEWS! November sees the annual out-pouring of generosity from many sections of our society, as the British Legion Poppy Appeal is with us once again. The following fabulous news reached us recently from the area’s Poppy Appeal organisers, and we are proud to share it with our readers: “We are delighted to announce that the final figure raised in the Langtoft, The Deepings and District Appeal for 2018 to 2019 is the princely sum of £20,833.45! This is a record for our local area and is an increase of £5,000 on 2017’s total. Nationally, the Appeal has topped £50,000,000 for the first time ever: a kingly sum! The response to the final year of the World War 1 commemorations has been magnificent, so thank you to everyone who helped, supported and donated throughout the Appeal year. We can promise you that every penny is spent on running the Appeal with the bulk going to our ‘Service people’, our veterans and their families to help them in many, many ways, nationally and around here. We couldn’t do this without you so to everyone in our District … Thank you so much. We are proud of you!”

Glinton Show Bigger and Better than Ever Glinton Horticultural Society held another magnificent show on Saturday September 21st. Entries were up and so were visitor numbers. As normal, Saturday morning was frantic with exhibitors making their final staging before their entries were judged – the amount of attention to detail by the chrysanthemum and dahlia exhibitors was amazing. Judging in all classes is taken very seriously and Horticultural Society members acted as stewards. The judges had a very welcome meal prepared by members after the, sometimes difficult, task of choosing winners. At 2 o’clock, the show opened to the public, whose numbers were up on last year, on a wonderful sunny day. The whole atmosphere of the show was very friendly and convivial, with public and exhibitors having a wonderful afternoon – the tea and cakes were especially appreciated. The cups and prizes were distributed and then came the business of dismantling and putting everything away for next year! There were a number of visitors who sought out members of the Society just to tell them how much they had enjoyed themselves. This show is now one of the biggest in East Anglia and, as this is an “open show”, we have had entries from Royston, Attleborough and many places in between! National Podiums for Young Local Ski Racer In a busy weekend of ski racing at Stoke Ski Centre last month, local ski racer Jasper Blackwell from West Deeping took third in the Under12 boys’ slalom race at the Ski Bartlett English Open. Jasper went one better the next day at the British Dry Slope Championships, taking second in the Under12 boys’ category.

The Ignored National Obesity Solution : EXERCISE! On the radio today I heard something that frankly I find ridiculous, indeed in my opinion mildly offensive, pathetic and a symptom of the shallow and uninspiring approach to the obesity crisis in young people from those who have positions of high influence. The idea, as part of a suite of ideas from the outgoing Professor Dame Sally Davies, was to put forward a plan to ban food on public transport to stop young people or indeed any people snacking unhealthily! Yes, it was to ban people from eating! Children and adults. What freedoms will we soon have left? What encouragement and motivation for taking personal and family responsibility for our health? The Chief Medical Officer proposed that the ban would “Prohibit eating and drinking on urban public transport, except fresh water, breastfeeding and for medical conditions.” Now before I go any further, let me tell you this… I would rather be arrested and locked up than allow anyone to tell me not to feed my baby boy some blueberries on a bus or train if he is hungry. I dare anyone to try and stop me. The full list of headline points in the plan from the outgoing CMO are as follows; • Phasing out all marketing, advertising and sponsorship of unhealthy food and drink. •

Banning food and drink on local transport with exceptions for water, breast-feeding and medical conditions.

Health adopt water and milk-only policies. The first thing that comes to mind as a parent is a young person’s diet is wholly and completely the responsibility of the parent(s). I repeat, wholly and completely! In my opinion, no blame should be given to wider society, to schools, to advertising channels and packaging, to social media or anywhere or anything else. It is deflecting from the core issue. If people cook and eat together at home and talk about the values and joys of different types of food, these values should live with a person throughout their daily lives. Education starts and lives at home. I do accept that for those who don’t have a stable family foundation, such outside influences may infiltrate and influence young minds and that this is where some of these ideas may have a small effect and where visible figures of authority in all parts of society need to be role models. I also acknowledge the steep price of healthy ‘real’ food. It is more expensive to eat well. These two points are large political and societal points of debate. Too large to carry forward in the detail required in this passage. But very important, nonetheless. The striking thing about every news report I see or hear on the wider subject of obesity in the UK, is that the conversation never begins with exercise. It often never enters the conversation at all. How can this be when food and its effect is directly and inextricably linked to the amount a given person moves? Very simply put, they are analysing the fuel without considering the use or performance of the vehicle. Someone who consumes 3,000

calories a day and doesn’t move, versus someone who consumes 3,000 calories a day and does, is infinitely more likely to become part of the obesity statistic. Yet …. We are to ban food as the headline message?!

Treating ourselves with respect in order to maintain the long-term wellbeing of our own ‘worlds’ is paramount. Without our personal health, we cannot fight for the health of our planet. Each of them is equally urgent!

Is there a single bullet point on this list from the Chief Medical Officer about movement and exercise? NO!

The two components influencing obesity, whether in children or adults, are movement, (exercise!) and food. If someone has no concept of, or interest in the importance of exercise, food has no true and comprehensive context to them. This isn’t a criticism necessarily. Education is the foundation of everything, and some people still need to be educated.

Is there any innovation or anything that encourages innovation specifically looking at how people move and exercise?… NO! How can exercise not be included in just one of the TEN bullet points given by the Chief Medical Officer? There are, however, plenty of increases in VAT. (No reductions in VAT either, a point which I will get to later.) Yes there is reference to ‘regular’ car free weekends, but the vagueness and non-comital nature of this idea makes it no more than a token and empty gesture. Exercise cannot simply be given lip service like this any more. Even the way the sentence is written feels ‘throwaway’. It’s not acceptable. We need to start putting exercise at the front of the argument. We need to make a compelling and passionate case in extolling its virtues and I feel it’s time for a massive lobbying effort to that effect, although the political landscape is somewhat distorted at the moment and day-to-day ‘real’ issues have been pushed to one side. Our physical wellbeing should be on a pedestal alongside arguments about environment, plastics and global warming. Maintaining a healthy environment in our bodies and minds follows so many of the same principles.

Speaking personally, I exercise for four main reasons. 1 I value and love life and want to be healthy and stay alive for me and my family. 2 I want to be proud of the way I look for me and my family. 3 I want to be able to enjoy my food with my family. 4 It makes me feel mentally alive and happy and improves my mood, giving me a more positive outlook on life. My body type is such that, without the exercise component, I would need to remove almost all of the foods I love. I am a ‘mesomorph’, which means I will tend to gain fat if I take no care and lead a sedentary lifestyle, and I will tend to lose fat if I do the work, exercise and eat well and healthily. I know this, not through textbooks, but because I’ve been there. I’ve carried fat, and now I don’t carry so much. The difference is inextricably and undeniably locked-in to my choices around exercise and food. Such experiences, choices and

Health intuitive understanding will be communicated to my son. He will not be told not to eat! He will have a rounded understanding of how he can experience and eat lots of varied, tasty, healthy foods, and indeed, sometimes, less healthy foods as a treat as part of an active and full life.

Incentive’ and the industry could be encouraged to look at new ways to use their insight and expertise to directly and indirectly affect the obesity problem in younger people. Helping businesses to be brave enough to diversify and giving them more financial freedom to think laterally.

And this is where the exercise industry must be included! To influence adults is challenging enough, but to influence young people who are too young to be safely in a gym environment on their own is therefore even more so. So, the experience of adults in exercise must be so good that it translates to family culture and conversation. So good that parents love exercise so much that they naturally become role models for their children. Empire Gym is thinking about how it can try to be more involved in the wellbeing of young people and we are quietly always looking, studying and wanting to innovate in a way that will do so.

And when people are sitting in front of their GP, and the doctor begins the conversation about obesity, weight loss and lifestyle, whether in adults or children, what advice is the doctor giving? Where are they saying they can go locally to talk about how their lives can be changed positively by exercise?

So, going back to the ‘list’. Did you know that VAT is charged on gym memberships? Yes, 20% of any of our membership fees go directly to the VAT man. Wouldn’t it be nice if that 20% was given back to an industry which, by definition, is part of the obesity solution? To me, it seems to be a direct trade off - adding VAT to foods that don’t help, and taking it away from exercise activities that do! It could be called an ‘Exercise Innovation

There are such things as ‘GP referrals’, a mechanism where a GP can decide to refer a patient to a fitness facility. But in the Deepings and indeed across the country, they are not allowed to refer people to

a private facility. All referrals in the Deepings will go to the council-run, leisure centre. At Empire, we pride ourselves on our passion for what we do. We invested in it, we live it, it is our livelihood, and we believe in it. Furthermore, we are really good at it. Deepings Business of the Year 2019/20 no less. I believe we can now finally mention the “C” word. I don’t know about you but every year I feel it gets earlier and earlier. Christmas before Hallowe’en and Guy Fawkes just isn’t right. So, what can we do in November to start a relaxed and organised Christmas?

• Plan your food and write a list for everything you need. Remember though … it is only for one day, the world is not coming to an end and Sainsburys (or any other supermarket) will have provisions on Boxing Day!

Always remember that nothing is perfect. WE all, me included, watch these amazing Christmas shows and promise ourselves epic table decorations, fancy candles and a vertical tree hanging from the ceiling. Let’s be realistic and also practical. Take the pressure off yourself; take a step back and plan some time in, so it’s achievable, or just be minimal. Christmas can look great with just a sprinkle of glitter.

Christmas is about being together and supporting one another. Let the family feud go, invite everyone round but get them to bring snacks and drinks with them. Set your boundaries with other people. Be honest but also be kind. Go back to basics. Enjoy company, laughter, singing, walks, board games, help each other and share the load, so stress can be minimised and happiness can be shared.

• Look at your ‘to-do list’ and think about the things you really enjoy doing. For the things that you find a bind, ask another family member to do for you, or do them first and leave the enjoyment till last.

Christmas isn’t a joyful time for everyone. Remember those who may be struggling or who are alone. Share a gift, send them some food, invite them around. Send a note that you are here if they need you.

The “D” Word – What To Do When Someone Dies by Nick Ash, Managing Director

Following on from our recent article encouraging families to talk about death and dying, this month we turn our attention to what you should do when a family member dies. If you find yourself in this situation then, first and foremost, don’t panic. There is a temptation to think that everything must be done at once – it doesn’t. In the days following the death, there is a small number of things that you should do –

Register the Death. You will receive a medical certificate of death from the hospital or the doctor. This needs to be taken to the registrar and the death needs to be formally registered within seven days. • Appointments can be booked online or by telephone.

• The registrar will ask you to provide lots of information about the deceased; take as much as you can. • The registrar will ask you if you want to use the government’s “Tell us Once” scheme. It is an excellent scheme and your answer should be, “Yes”. • The registrar will offer you the opportunity to get extra copies of the death certificate; we always recommend you get half a dozen, as you will need them.

Arrange the Funeral. Hopefully, the person who has died will have discussed this with you; if not, the will might give a clue as to their wishes. Either way, the executor has a duty to arrange the funeral. So, a funeral director is your next port of call. Remember, which funeral

November Gardening Tips Brrr! The cold days of November are upon us and, if the weather prediction is correct, we are in for a harsh winter, so best to get the allotment or vegetable patch prepared for winter as soon as possible! Firstly, make sure that you dig up the weeds to prevent them taking hold in the spring, and clear the plot of summer crops; don’t leave them to rot, as this can increase the risk of disease and harbour unwanted pests. Dig the plot over but not if the ground is waterlogged or frozen, and add any manure or compost, to replace lost nutrients - no need to dig the manure in, as nature will take its course and the worms will help it ﬁnd its way into the soil. Then, if you cover the soil with weed suppressant material or plastic, it will keep the soil warmer and prevent the growth of weeds in the early spring. Autumn always brings a plethora of leaves. Leaf mould makes good mulch and if you have plenty of leaves you can easily make a cage to contain the leaves using four stakes and stapling chicken wire around them. Just throw the leaves in and leave them for a year to rot down. November is the month for pruning fruit trees and bushes, except for cherries and plums, before the weather gets really cold. Also, bare-rooted fruit trees, bushes and canes should be planted now whilst they are dormant. When they are planted, spread a mulch of well-rotted manure around the base. Other tasks for this month include: • Propagate rhubarb crowns by lifting and dividing into smaller pieces, planting at the same depth in their new position, spread well-rotted manure around the plant, but don’t cover the crown. • Secure covers over compost heaps/bins; although the material needs to be damp, winter rain and snow will saturate it and slow the rotting process down. • Plan the crop rotation for next year. Planting one group of vegetables in the same ground, year after year, increases the risk of a build-up of disease. There are websites that provide planners; one such example is http://gardenplanner.suttons.co.uk. • Dismantle bean canes, if you haven’t already, as leaving them in the ground will cause the bases to rot. • Start to harvest winter cabbage, Brussels sprouts, leeks and parsnips; wait until after a frost for the parsnips, as the frost encourages the sugars which give parsnips their sweetness. Pick sprouts from the bottom up as this allows the top ones a chance to swell and, while you’re picking, remove any yellowing leaves to ensure good circulation. • Plant garlic cloves; if you have heavy soil that tends to hold water, then put either gravel or sharp sand in the base of the hole before planting. • Plant early “overwintering” broad beans, (either in the ground or in pots), peas, shallots and onions.

Home Rights Can I protect my right to live in the family home if I do not own it? This is a question that we are regularly asked and, if you are a married couple, the answer is yes. The Family Law Act 1996 protects the right of a husband, wife or civil partner to occupy the family home if it is owned by their spouse or civil partner, by giving the non-owner occupier home rights. This may not, however, apply if the property is owned jointly with a third party. This means that the non-owning spouse has a right to occupy the home and to not be evicted from the home without a court order, or, if they are not already in occupation, they have a right to seek the courtâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s permission to occupy the home. You can only protect your right to stay in one property.

at any time; you do not need to wait until you are worried that your marriage or civil partnership may be breaking down. The notice on the register means that the owner cannot sell or mortgage the property without the written consent of the spouse who has the benefit of the home rights notice.

The right must be registered at the Land Registry as a charge against the property, in order to afford the nonowning spouse proper protection. You can register a home rights notice

If there is a mortgage on the property, the payments must still be made, as the home rights notice does not prevent a mortgage lender from issuing possession proceedings.

Note that the home rights notice only protects your right to live in the property until the divorce has been finalised and a court settlement agreed. Staff and Volunteers in Citizens Advice Get Away to Recharge their Batteries and Consider the Future In September, the staff and volunteers in South Lincolnshire, which includes both Bourne and Market Deeping, met in Grantham for an “awayday” to consider how the organisation could best equip itself to maximise its service, going forward, in view of the continuing demand. Topics discussed included a traditional S.W.O.T. analysis, (Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats), and a wide-ranging debate about new ways to consider fundraising. An external speaker was able to give everyone tips to help them deal with the day-to-day stresses of the job. Combining this brainstorming session with a celebration of the eightieth anniversary gave all participants an opportunity to meet and share ideas with colleagues from other parts of the area. September 4th 2019 saw the eightieth anniversary of the launch of Citizens Advice, which was originally created to offer free advice to all people, worried about the effects of the outbreak of war. Eighty years later, the organisation still maintains its reputation for unparalleled quality, impartiality and accessibility – and it is still free at the point of contact. Catherine Sanders at John Clare Cottage, Helpston. Jane’s paintings involve a love of landscape and capture a moment in time with the seasons or light. Most are in oil paints with some acrylic. Flora and fauna are then taken to another level using the creations of nature, leaves and tree bark as a background to paint animals and birds. Her painting has then extended to the medium of ceramic to create fine painted bead jewellery.

History

The Deepings - A Brief Historical Introduction (by our local correspondent)

he name is thought to be derived from the Saxon for ‘low places’, and at thirty-two feet above sea level, Market Deeping is one of the lowest inland towns in England, Deeping St. James and Deeping St. Nicholas probably being even lower. They are mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.

Although the area was so low and frequently flooded, evidence has been found of human habitation from the Stone Age and the Bronze Age, with dwellings perhaps raised, as were found recently at Must Farm at Whittlesey. Drainage was introduced by the Romans with the construction of the Car Dyke, and hence the establishment of West Deeping on a Roman road, “King Street”. Following the Norman invasion of 1066, the area known as Deeping Fen, (a peat wetland fed by ground water), was taken over by Richard de Rulos who had married into the local Wake family. He embarked on a programme of creating meadow land by banking the River Welland and enclosing land around the Saxon chapel of St Guthlac. Housing was established for people who were needed to work on the now productive land and eventually a settlement was established and was known as East Deeping or Deeping St Guthlacs. In the 1120s, St Guthlac’s church was built on the site of the chapel to serve the growing community. During the late thirteenth century, a Charter was issued for a market and fair, and the name was changed to reflect this new status. Meanwhile habitation had grown up around a Benedictine Priory further down river at what is now Deeping St. James. Rivers in those days of course were the main ways of getting about. This area was taken over by Baldwin Fitzgilbert, the son-in-law of de Rulos, who continued a policy of drainage and the development of agriculture. What is now the Priory Church was part of the Priory and was consecrated in 1139 but the priory was later closed by the Dissolution Act of 1536. Over time, the church has undergone many changes and additions, but inside signs of doorways into the priory can still be seen. In the 1700s, the river was cleared for better navigation, encouraging more trade and making Deeping St James and Market 58

Deeping more prosperous and important. Across the River Welland, houses were built that became known as Deeping Gate, (“gateway to the Deepings”, presumably), but no church or businesses were established there, so it continues to be associated with its neighbours, although in another county, Cambridgeshire. Between the North and South Drove drains towards Spalding, Deeping St. Nicholas became established to house farmworkers, the Church being built in 1846, and being served by the railway in 1848.
