Well, what an amazing spectacular the coronation of King Charles III turned out to be, and how fabulous to see our local communities making such an effort to become involved in all the various events that were taking place over the long weekend. Whenever a community tries hard to offer the opportunity for people to come together and celebrate, it is always so rewarding when it is a success.
Hopefully, the good folk of Bourne and the local area will make a big effort to support those hard-working volunteers in both the Bourne Round Table with their ‘Bourne Festival’ on the weekend of June 2nd to June 4th, and in the Bourne Events Team whose ‘Picnic in the Park’ and Classic Car Show will follow on Sunday June 18th. Huge thanks in advance to you all.
A reminder to you all that June 18th also happens to be Father’s Day, so love and best wishes go to my dad, Bill; father-in-law, Rich; and my husband, Chris.
A summer of sporting excitement lies ahead. Can the mighty Posh make it back into the Championship? The five match Ashes series begins at Edgbaston on June 16th. From July 20th, the FIFA Women’s World Cup will see England’s Lionesses hoping to become our “pride” and joy again. The men’s Rugby Union World Cup in France will then take us through September and October, (just in time to see the Posh racing ahead towards the Premiership!)
Nearer to home (and the real world!), Mrs S. successfully negotiated the London Marathon in 4 hours 47 minutes – next up … the small matter of a 47-mile run round Lake Windermere in September!
And finally:
• The problem with kleptomaniacs is that they always take things literally.
• The man who invented Velcro died recently. RIP Enjoy the read.

Hay Fever Sufferers…
Dry Your Eyes and Read This
For all those that suffer with the dreaded hay fever, we don’t need to tell you that the season has already well and truly begun, and it’s only set to get worse. With debilitating symptoms affecting the eyes, nose, throat, and even itchy skin, you can soon find yourself making repeated trips to the pharmacy to stock up with tablets, eye drops and nasal sprays. This can easily end up costing you a small fortune, as well as requiring you to administer different medications multiple times a day. Typically, a severe hay fever sufferer will require tablets once or more a day, eye drops four times a day and a nasal spray twice a day, at a combined cost of approximately £30 per month. Here at Deep-in Aesthetics, we have had many, many reports from our clients that their hay fever symptoms have completely resolved after the use of a single injection. Though unlicensed and unavailable on the NHS, the injection is highly effective for many. It has additional benefits which our clients have reported in reducing their symptoms of arthritis and psoriasis, at a competitive price of £70 per injection, with only one being needed for the entire season for most people.

Get Ready For Summer!
Usually, round about this time of year, gyms get busier with clients who want to ‘shape up’ in time for their holidays. If you’re wondering whether you can make an impact in such a short period of time, then the answer is, “YES
YOU CAN!”
Two or three fitness classes a week will certainly impact your shape and fitness in time for a late July / August holiday. But are you committed to sticking to a few fitness recommendations to help you achieve this? If you really want a ‘summer body’ this year, then you need to start moving more and eating better … FROM NOW!
Like I said, two or three (or more if you can) fitness classes a week, good healthy, ‘clean’ food, and a good attitude … sadly, you will need to cut out sugary treats and drinks, limit your caffeine intake, obviously no alcoholic drinks, but you will quickly see that these simple changes will make a huge difference.
Why not give it a go? Let us help you.

Anyone For “Seatercise”?
Seated Workout Classes are for Everyone!
Local lady, Yvonne Kohter, wants you to know the following:
Just because the exercise classes which she has been running for the past year in several local villages involve you being seated must mean that they are too easy – “Think again; many people comment on how they have found aching muscles they never knew they had!”
1
That could involve someone who has never taken much interest in exercise and keeping fit in the past, but has decided, perhaps on medical advice, to try for a healthier way forward, but at a steady pace.
2
They must be for old folks – “All ages are catered for, ranging from teenagers to the elderly. Everybody gets a full body workout as well as the opportunity to have a chat before, during (if not too much out of breath) and after the class!”
Alternatively, the person in the next chair could well be someone recovering from a stroke or from surgery who is seeking a means of strengthening their limbs and core muscles, using Yvonne’s resistance bands and small weights.
3
What meaningful exercise could be possible whilst sitting down? “You’d be surprised how much movement you can gain whilst seated. You’ve got to give it a try to really see what can be achieved!”
Well qualified in a wide range of exercise coaching situations, this mother of three youngsters is keen to get across the vital message that both physical and mental wellbeing is so important to us all. Her chair-based exercise classes provide an ideal way for anyone to make the move in seeking a healthier and happier lifestyle.
Besides these, Yvonne has found the classes provide an opportunity, (manageable to most at £5 per hour-long session and requiring very little in the way of “sports kit”) for many people to just get out of their home and meet up regularly with likeminded souls for a chat and a bit of company, but exercising at the same time.
“Seatercise”, by definition, is a “combination of weight loss, cardio and strength training moves that are easy on the joints for a high/medium intensity workout.” Yvonne stresses, however, that in her classes, everyone is free to go at their own pace. She currently runs classes in Market Deeping, Baston, Langtoft, Thurlby and Crowland, so why not give it a go?

TRAVEL VACCINATIONS AND HEALTH ADVICE SERVICE
HOW IT WORKS - YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED!
1 WHY MAY I NEED TO BE VACCINATED?
If you’re about to travel outside of the UK, you may need to be vaccinated before you set off for your trip. The childhood vaccination programme in the UK protects you from a number of diseases, but you may need extra vaccinations or antimalarials if you’re planning on visiting certain parts of the world.
2 HOW CAN WE HELP?
Getting vaccinated can help prevent you from getting ill if you’re exposed to diseases which we don’t normally have in the UK. We can help you understand how to keep your risks low while abroad and help you work out which vaccinations and antimalarials you may want to consider depending on things like:
• Which regions you’ll be visiting
• What activities you’ll be doing
• Your age and general health
Some travel vaccinations may be needed several weeks before departure. Ideally you should see us six to eight weeks before travelling, but we may still be able to help if you’re leaving sooner, even days before for travel.
3 WHAT VACCINATIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
● Cholera ● Hepatitis A ● Hepatitis B ● Japanese encephalitis
● Meningitis ACWY ● Rabies ● Tick-borne encephalitis
● Typhoid
● Yellow fever

Our EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) children are exploring the natural world around them, making observations, and drawing pictures of animals and plants, showing care and concern for living things in the environment and talking about endangered animals. They are also exploring religious beliefs such as the Christian creation story and the Islamic story, “Bilal and the Beautiful Butterfly”. Children in Key Stage 1 are investigating stretching, bending, twisting, and squashing to see how they change materials. In History they are learning about famous explorers, including Matthew Henson, Felicity Aston, and Neil Armstrong. In Year 3, children are studying equivalent fractions, adding, and subtracting fractions, finding fractions of amounts, measuring mass in grams and kilograms, and adding and subtracting mass. In Year 4, they are exploring equivalent fractions, finding fractions of amounts, tenths as decimals, dividing 1 and 2-digit numbers by 10 and 100, making a whole with tenths and hundredths, writing money using decimals and
Baston C of E Primary School
Over the course of two days in March, six children, along with their Headteacher, Mrs Forster, and the school’s EYFS teacher, Mr Hardstaff, took part in the filming of an episode of BBC television’s “Countryfile” to help launch their ‘Wild Britain’ scheme. They had a great time getting involved with setting up the new wildlife haven in Tongue End and exploring nature at Deeping Lakes with Hamza Yassin, who had recently starred on “Strictly Come Dancing”. The episode was aired on April 16th and is still available on BBC iPlayer.
converting between pounds and pence.
Year 5 are learning that dissolving, mixing and changes of state are reversible changes and that burning and heating some materials and mixing bicarbonate with acid are examples of irreversible changes. They will have recognised that different substances have different solubility rates. The children are also learning about the different climate zones of the world, their conditions and what life exists there.
In sports news, our Year 3/4 cricket team won all their games, against DSJ, Linchfield, Westfield A and Westfield 1 recently, which means that we qualify for the County Championship in Lincoln. Our lads showed great teamwork and listening skills, they were a credit to the school, and were very supportive of all the other schools competing.

Children and staff took part in a range of activities to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III on Friday May 5th. Each class learnt about a past monarch and produced some excellent pieces of artwork.Everyone got into the spirit of the occasion by dressing in red, white, and blue for the day.
Many of the children took part in a competition to design a crown for the coronation, and all who entered took part in a crown parade in the afternoon. Head of School, Matthew Baker said, “We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the coronation of King Charles III in school and I am sure it will be an occasion that will live long in the memory of all of our children. The crowns that the children produced were superb and they all looked exceptional in our parade.”

We Have a Winner or two
Meet Maxwell, (13) who is a joint winner of our Easter Egg Hunt competition in our April issue.
A pupil at Marshfields Secondary School in Peterborough, Maxwell teamed up with his close friend, Rohan, (11) who attends Havelock Junior School in Desborough, to scoop the fabulous prize of a “Chocolate Explosion”.
Maxwell and Rohan thoroughly enjoyed doing the Easter Egg Hunt and it was made even more special as it was their first time wandering around town by themselves and were proud for having used Google Maps to navigate to the shops they didn’t know! The very kind lads decided to share their prize with their other two siblings, Lily and Jake, and everyone wanted to say a massive thank you for the prize.

Halfleet’s Coronation Hall
(KINDLY SUPPLIED BY DEEPINGS HERITAGE)
Clues to this 147-year-old building’s origin as a chapel are the crosses set into its yellow and red striped brickwork, arched windows and six stone plaques where names of its founders have been chiselled out. It was later converted into a community hall which narrowly escaped destruction in the Second World War when a plane crashed nearby.
In 1869, Primitive Methodist believers in Towngate bought land and erected a building on it which they used for preaching and as a school. Seven years later, they had sufficient funds to build themselves a “neat and substantial chapel”, and its foundation stones were laid in June 1876. With many worshippers, the chapel flourished. Public teas and entertainments were held there to raise funds and provide outings for the Sunday School children. Services continued until 1932, but as attendance dwindled, they could no longer afford to repair the ageing building and the chapel stood empty for several years.
To mark the coronation of King George VI in 1937, people in Market Deeping wanted to create an amenity of lasting benefit. A memorial lamp was suggested for the Market Place, construction of a swimming pool in the river and a community hall. Only the scheme for a hall went ahead, and a committee of local tradesmen and farmers began fundraising to buy and renovate the old chapel. Their aim was to provide a non-sectarian and non-political centre for village activities. By August 1939, when a garden fete with a model steam railway was organised in aid of the Coronation Hall funds, work on re-fitting the building was well advanced. It officially opened on the evening of March 12th, 1940, with six hours of dancing, accompanied by Reg Walden’s band.
It was during the morning of Sunday, April 15th, 1945, that the hall came under threat. An Oxford training aircraft from Warwickshire was flying over Towngate when it collided with overhead power cables and crashed onto a house a few yards away. The house’s occupant was rescued unharmed, just before the plane’s fuel tanks exploded and set the property on fire. Tragically, two Royal Air Force men, Robert Dougal Fishbourne and Leslie Ward who were both in their twenties, lost their lives. The house was never re-built, and its site is now a public car park.
When a Coronation Queen
Dance was held in 1953, the hall attracted its biggest gathering, with almost four hundred people celebrating. Over the years, it has hosted Young Farmers’ dances, Deeping Drama Club, blood donor sessions, wedding receptions, auctions, and many more social events. Now, following another coronation, it continues to provide community facilities, just as originally planned.

Cuckoos Calling and Glow-worms Crawling!!
[ by David Denman ]
May was a riot of colour with bright yellow cowslips putting on their best show for decades.
any different groups of insects were present on this important early nectar source including bees, beetles, and butterflies such as the brimstone, which is also bright yellow and another spring specialist. As their bright yellow contribution faded, the taller cow parsley started to appear, their white flowers again providing a range of insects with food sources. Many carnivorous insects will use the high vantage points to swoop down on unsuspecting smaller insects.
We have many areas of diverse mixed habitats with wetland, scrub, and woodland edges and these have been characterised in recent weeks by the call of the cuckoo. From the Deepings to southern Peterborough, there seem to be a lot more cuckoos calling than last year; good news as the species is still on the UK “Red List”. Cuckoos, of course, have a somewhat devious way of ensuring their next generation survives, using another, smaller, bird species to incubate and then to feed the young cuckoo. Visits to local wetlands, especially around our larger
Mlakes, have provided the bubbling call of dabchicks, a small diving duck. Their calls and those of skylarks, singing on the wing high above fields, have been a musical backdrop to our spring countryside.
We are now in the time of year when young birds are seen to be making their presence known, especially the raucous call of young starlings ringing out. They are brown and not black and speckled like their parents but are soon independent and able to forage for themselves. The rule as ever with baby birds that seem to have been abandoned is to leave them where they are as the parents are nearly always nearby.
A very long time ago at this time of year, I would lead glow-worm walks at Barnack Hills and Holes National Nature Reserve. We were well pleased if we found more than three or four! However, these days the banks of the Maxey Cut and neighbouring lanes come alive after dark. I recorded a hundred glow-worms in one night in 2021! Their eerie green glow is easy to see at the tops of grass stems. As the bankside habitat is not dissimilar to neighbouring habitats, I wonder whether other grass banks and verges in our area may also have glow-worms. Verges with grasses rather than woody species seem to be preferred, as are dark verges rather than those that are illuminated. If you have sightings of glow-worms, please share the news, by emailing me on daviddenman04@aol.com.

Spring Cleaning for Your Home’s Electrical System
BY COLEEN EVERITT, ALTO ELECTRICAL LIMITED
Athorough spring cleaning can help improve the safety and efficiency of your electrical system, and even save you money on your energy bills. Start by inspecting all your electrical outlets and switches. Look for signs of wear and tear, such as cracks or discolouration, and replace any damaged components.
You should also test each outlet to ensure that it’s working properly. If you find an outlet that’s not functioning, it’s important to have it repaired or replaced as soon as possible.
Next, take a look at your light fixtures. Dust and debris can accumulate on light bulbs and shades, which can reduce the amount of light they emit. Clean your light fixtures thoroughly and consider switching to energy-efficient LED bulbs. These bulbs use less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and can last for years, which can help you save money on your energy bills.
Finally, consider having your electrical system inspected by a professional electrician. An electrician can identify any potential safety hazards, such as outdated wiring or damaged electrical fittings, and make necessary repairs or upgrades to ensure that your home is safe and compliant.
By taking the time to clean and inspect your electrical system this spring, you can improve the safety and efficiency of your home and save money on your energy bills.
If you have a ceiling fan, make sure to clean the blades and check the motor for any signs of wear and tear. A well-maintained ceiling fan can help circulate air throughout your home, which can reduce your reliance on your heating system and save you money on energy costs. 01778

Popular Local Firm Revolutionise and Rebrands as “W&P Legal”
For eighteen years, Will & Probate Services has been providing clients with vital legal services when they need it most. Those of you who have worked with us before know that we are not a traditional law firm. Our excellent service is built upon our core values: to be trusted; to communicate effectively in a timely manner; to present the right solutions; to keep charges reasonable and proportionate; and to lead the market.
Will writing and estate planning and administration has been at the heart of Will & Probate Services since 2005, but a visit to a recent trade show gave us the realisation that it was time to take our brand to the next level, so we can show the world what we are truly capable of. Will & Probate Services has been growing rapidly, with a team of over forty staff, each bringing new and exciting ideas to the firm and many, many new opportunities. We’ve come to realise that while Will & Probate Services has been at the forefront of our identity for so long, it no longer represents all that we have offer. Will & Probate Services had to evolve. So, W&P Legal was born.
W&P Legal has ‘peace of mind’ at its heart. We are still specialists in Wills, probate and estate planning, elder care, and Lasting Power of Attorney, but now
offer so much more. Freed from the constraints of just Will & Probate Services, we can really spread our wings and reach our potential. W&P Legal now encompasses several sub-brands that further define the services we offer, including Islamic Wills, ‘Loving Legacies’ and ‘Mamas Wills’.
Covering a much wider area of expertise, these services are designed to offer more personalised, specialist advice on more specific matters such as Islamic Law, planning for families with children who have additional and complex needs (“Loving Legacies”) and providing knowledge and advice to parents on the importance of having a Will (“Mamas Wills”). Alongside our rebrand, we’ve taken this opportunity to expand on our ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’. Although we’re already very active within the community, we’ve taken the exciting step to make Little Miracles our charity of the year and have become Gold Ambassadors. Three of our team are also completing a skydive this year in the hope of raising £1,500!
This is a very exciting time for us at W&P Legal, and we’d love for you to share this journey with us. From taking your Will instructions to complex trust advice, mitigating Inheritance Tax and everything in between, we’re here for you.
You can stay up to date with us on Instagram (@wp_Legal), Facebook and Linked In.

Step Up Your Online Security to Help Keep Scammers at Bay
By Eileen Le Voi at Safe Local Trades
Online fraud is on the rise, with the UK having the highest number of cybercrime victims per million internet users in 2022. This has resulted in enormous losses but, worryingly, an increasing number of online crimes involving the hacking of personal email and social media accounts. So, with many of us having at least one email address and potentially one, two or even more social media accounts, what can we do to protect ourselves?
Regularly changing your password and having a different, hard to crack password for each of your accounts is advisable. Introducing Two or Multi Factor Authentication (2FA) can provide an important extra layer of protection. The first "factor" is your usual password that is standard for any account. The second "factor" is a verification code retrieved from an app on a mobile device or computer. It asks for another way to prove your identity when you sign into a service. There are different ways to do this: you might have a PIN sent to your phone in an SMS, you can generate a code using an independent app, or some services might provide a list of ‘back-up codes’ when you first set up 2SV (two-step verification). Whichever way you receive it, you then enter the PIN or code to prove it's really you. Although it's a small extra effort to access your accounts, it means that, even if an attacker has your password, they still can't gain access to your account. Here are a few simple ways to try and better protect our personal details and finances:
• Go through all your accounts and check you don’t have multiple accounts with the same password. If you have lots of passwords to change – start with your top five most used apps/accounts and then work your way through.
• Advice from the National Cyber Security Centre is to use three random words added together to make a long enough and strong enough password.
• Use a password manager and/or think about saving your passwords in your browser. As long as it is on your own (and not a shared) device, this should be safe to do.
• Most apps will allow you to switch 2FA on. Do this as soon as you can to try and prevent a password breach.
• Delete any apps that you don’t use – every app is a potential way in for cyber criminals and cutting down their options will keep your accounts safer.
Help to set up 2FA can be found at https://bit.ly/NCSC-2FA

Deposit Without Saving
Whilst saving for a deposit is the traditional route to homeownership (as covered in last month’s issue), there are alternative options for those who may not have the luxury of time or the means to save a substantial amount of money upfront. Here are some strategies to consider if you need to raise a deposit for a mortgage without saving.
1Gifted deposit: If you have family members or close friends who are willing and able to help, you may consider asking them for a gifted deposit. Lenders may require a letter from the giftgiver stating that the money is a gift and not a loan that needs to be repaid. Gifts can be protected by a deed of trust, and this could reassure families reluctant to provide a gift to a young couple.
2Equity from another property: If you already own a property, you may be able to use the equity from that property as a deposit for your new home. Equity is the difference between the current value of your property and the amount you owe on your mortgage. You can either sell your current property and use the proceeds as a deposit for your new home or raise money against your old home, rent out the property, and use the funds raised as a deposit.
3Shared ownership: Shared ownership is a governmentbacked scheme that allows you to buy a percentage share of a property (typically between 25-75%) and pay rent on the remaining share. This can be a more affordable way to get on the property ladder with a lower deposit requirement. Over time, you can gradually buy more shares of the property until you eventually own it outright. Shared ownership schemes are usually offered through housing associations or local authorities.
40% options: There are some lenders that have 100% mortgage options. This requires either a strong rent track record, or involvement from family or friends to offer a guarantee to help secure the mortgage.
It’s important to note that these alternative options may come with their own set of pros and cons, and it is essential to thoroughly research and understand the implications before proceeding. Consulting with a mortgage broker can also provide valuable guidance and help you make informed decisions.
Whilst saving for a mortgage deposit is the most common approach, exploring alternative options may provide a feasible path to homeownership for those who are unable to save a substantial amount of money upfront.

Wills
Why do I need a will?
Wills are important to ensure that your assets pass to those you would like. If you are not married, your partner will not automatically inherit your estate.
If you have children, you can also use a will to nominate guardians to ensure they are looked after if the worst may happen.
Lasting Powers of Attorney
What are they?
Lasting Powers of Attorneys (LPAs) are documents that allow someone that you nominate as your attorney, to deal with your financial or health affairs on your behalf.
These are used when you lose mental capacity but must be created while you can still make decisions. If you do not create these in time, then unfortunately the solution is more costly and time consuming.
Probate
What is it?
When a person sadly passes away, some banks and institutes require a Grant of Probate to enable you to collect in their assets. If you are selling a house, a solicitor will require this to complete the sale.
We are licensed to assist with the probate application on your behalf, as well as distribute the estate, making everything simpler at this difficult time.

Market Deeping’s Coach Houses (…not flats!)
Briggs Residential are proud to have been given the opportunity to market these three-storey houses located close to the town centre and leading down to the River Welland.
There is a misconception that these beautiful properties are flats, but they are indeed houses, sympathetically restored by Paul Allen.
During the Covid restrictions, Paul and Gill from Norfolk decided to have a drive around to find a new project and they came across “The Old Coach House”, a former pub. Work on The Coach House began in 2021 and took six months just to strip out all the fixtures and fittings. At this time, Paul was living outside in a motorhome whilst partner Gill remained at home.
This stunning development is steeped in history. To this day, there is a plaque which commemorates the marriage of Joseph and Ann Mawby who were married in Market Deeping on 31st January 1793. Ann’s father, Thomas Beecraft, was a grocer and had a shop in Market Place, whilst Joseph’s father, John, was a wealthy farmer and property owner who lived in what is now 102 and 104 Church Street. The Old Coach House was originally a warehouse where Joseph traded
goods along the River Welland between Stamford and The Wash until the mid-19th century.
Joseph went on to build The Stage hotel (originally called The New Inn) in 1802 and later built several adjoining properties. Joseph Mawby died in 1834 and his wife Ann passed away in 1844.
Today, these Coach Houses offer versatile accommodation, individually designed and incorporating a modern twist whilst retaining character. Both have fitted kitchens with integrated appliances, three bedrooms with en-suite to the master, and an abundance of quality finishes including internal oak doors, feature glass panels to the staircasing and modern sanitaryware in the bathrooms.
Using the latest energy-efficient technology including air source heating and hot water, both have underfloor heating to the ground floors and are fully insulated. Did we mention both properties also have a garage and ample parking?
Please contact our experienced team on 01778 349300 who will be happy to show you around these very special and unique HOUSES!

Blood Donor Hits Impressive Milestone
APeterborough resident has recently donated his blood for an impressive 150th time. Rex Heaford, (84) has been donating his blood for fifty-seven years in the Peterborough area and hit the incredible milestone in early May. He was first attracted to the idea by the offer of refreshments, which he still likes to take advantage of to this day. “There were free biscuits and a glass of squash,” he said, “not to mention the chance to skive off work for an hour.” He added, “I have donated at ten different locations within the Peterborough postal area.”
Rex gained his Bronze badge in 1966 after ten donation sessions, Silver in 1973 after twenty-five, Gold in 1987 after fifty, and Diamond in 2006 after one hundred sessions. He and his partner, Pauline, were also treated to a meal after his seventy-fifth donation and presented with a cut glass decanter and a meal after his one hundredth. At an average of three donations a year, Rex is still donating and hopes to continue “as long as I am still fit and healthy”. Even Covid lockdowns did not deter him from donating.
Jacob Impresses at the Regional Swimming Championships
Club captain Jacob Briers was Deepings Swimming Club’s sole qualifier for the East Midlands Long Course Youth Championships held over the May Bank Holiday weekend. More than seven hundred swimmers, aged fifteen and over, from fifty-seven clubs competed at the Moorways Sports Village 50-metre pool in Derby to decide the best in the region.
Jacob qualified for eight events in the 15yrs age group and made the finals in two, the 200m breaststroke, (finishing eighth) and the 200m butterfly, (sixth). The latter was one of six long course personal bests Jacob set at the championships.
Rex has proudly kept all his certificates, which he loves to show to anyone who is interested, particularly at his local Nene and Welland Oddfellows friendship group, where he’s been a member for nearly twenty years.
Nene and Welland Oddfellows Branch
Secretary, Karen Earth, said, “Rex is well known within the branch, and given his generosity, I’m not surprised that he’s achieved this impressive milestone; our members are very happy to pass on their congratulations. He is the perfect example of the type of person that we have here at our Oddfellows friendship group – kind, welcoming, and fun-loving. We host a range of regular activities that our members love, and we’re always open to welcoming new faces.”
Interested in finding out about the Nene and Welland Oddfellows? Email Karen.Earth@oddfellows.co.uk or call 01778 342 006.
The Oddfellows is one of the oldest and largest friendly societies in the UK and provides support for members like Rex in a variety of ways.

Eight “PBs” for Deepings at East Midlands Regional Championships
Four swimmers represented Deepings Swimming Club at the first weekend of the East Midlands Regional Long Course Championships in Corby at the end of April. Oliver Clarke, James Cash, Oliver Shepherd, and Lottie Jenkinson posted some fast times and combined for eight personal bests in the 50-metre Olympic-size pool but fell just short of making the finals in the age group competition.
Sam Peeroo, Deepings
Swimming Club head coach, said, “The level of competition was very high, but our swimmers coped with the pressure and came away with some excellent long course personal bests.”
